We stayed at the Anwar movenpick before performing umrah. We were a family of 9 with young children. Our check in was a disaster! Our rooms were paid for by our travel agent, the hotel claimed that our booking was cancelled when it was not. The hotel had fiddled around with our booking and double booked our rooms to someone else, which left us stranded with no where to go with young children some with medical problems and disability we were put in a very difficult and stressful situation. We had children sleeping rough on sofas after 2 long exhausting flights, also children slept in they vomit because of travel sickness the hotels refuse to provide us with any wash facilities considering we were paying guest. After speaking to other hotel we were advised to speak to the manager at the Anwar movenpick, eventually after nearly six hours we were finally given our rooms. I would never book this hotel again neither recommend families with young children too! You would think in the blessed city of Madinah people would not betray your trust, but unfortunately Shaytan is everywhere.
Not really a 5* hotel though. I really want to know who designed this (approx) 80 cm by 130 cm shower space, if you are taller than 170 cm and heavier than 80 kg, it's not for you. Two pieces shower glass door is way way wider than it should, so it couldn't be closed properly, water gets through it and pooled on the entire bathroom floor. Closet flush didn't work. Toiletries were very basic. No slippers. Try other hotel next time you visit Madinah.
Very friendly people in the hotel. Next to Haram. Good choice of breakfast . You need to add your name and email address to get the free wifi. Only Imo works in KSA. Viber and WhatsApp doesn't work here .
"Not as expected "
After staying in an excellent hotel in Makkah the movenpick hotel did just not meet the standards. The rooms are dated and in need of a good clean and refurbishment. Staff are very slow and not as hospitable. We seem to have to request things a few times before they actually get done. I understand the hotel is busy but so was the hotel in Makkah but the service level didn't drop. The room is self is spacious but the bathroom are is very small. There seems to be an unpleasant smell near the elevators and in hallways etc. Location is great but after staying in other hotels nearby I would probably go back there.
"Best Hotel for stay near Masjid Nabawi"
We stayed here for 3 nights. This is by far the best hotel near gate 15 of Masjid. Within 5 minutes walk you are in the mosque. It has by far the best breakfast buffet, with a wide range of items to select from. All the staff is very courteous. Rooms are very clean, having iron with stand and they also provide tea bags with sugar and creamer. We had a reservation for 2 beds but they gave us 3 beds, which was very convenient with kids. Also it is very close to all the shopping places around. Infact the shopping mall is located right on the ground floor and even have access from the mall. Highly recommended. We will surely stay here again.
