This is a huge hotel which runs from the road to the sea and even has a funicular for the old and disabled although I doubt if it operates any more. The grounds were beautifully maintained with lots of birdlife including sunbirds and bulbuls. There is an excellent lifeguard who helps you in and out of the water which is very tricky due to the waves and rocks. Strongly advise the wearing of booties and not slippers as these slip off when your feet rise to the surface. Keep the water out of your eyes as it stings badly. Good breakfast but our room needed refit. Staff excellent. Restaurants could open earlier but are good.
"A must see if you visit this region!"
The amenities are pretty good. Towels and hot shower are provided. Beach is covered with large salt crystals. Take flip flops or other shoes to protect your feet. You won't sink so jump in! We ate lunch there and the food was institutional.
"Great as usual"
It is not the fist time for me at the Dead Sea Movenpick. It is great as usual. Food is great with lots of options. Room clean and spacious. Wifi is good everywhere. Mini bar in the room is complimentary. I didn't swim but I know the water in the pool was cold. The spa is very expensive for me. It was really a very intense 3 business days. From previous occasions for me at Movinpick Dead Sea, I can say that the pool is splendid. A swim in the Dead Sea is a life time experience. As November is the start of winter season in Jordan, it was difficult to have cool air conditioning in the hotel's rooms - although it was hot at the Dead Sea (unlike Amman)
Very good overall. Experience was soured a bit on checkout after a great stay. No one took my name at breakfast. Caused wasted time when settling bill. Also took 150JOD deposit on arrival. On checkout I paid the bill and asked what happened to deposit. Then found it wasn't a pre authorisation. I was told "why didn't you tell me", they should know from their system what had Been charged without relying on customer. Should also apologise rather than blame customer as first response
"Back in old days"
I have been to over 90 cities in 25 countries in four continents, this is one of the best hotels: location, design, style, various types of swimming pools, beach, SPA and above all staff. The Bedouin stylish decoration, architecture, walk ways, trees and gardens, open air theatre and more make you feel so welcome. One of my best destinations this year if not the best of all. Don't worry if guy feel lost in the many village-style buildings and lanes. You will learn them by heart quickly. The creative architect deserve a thank you, he sent me back in time to my village. It is not very expensive though, but a little over budget. You need to be careful as there are lots of mosquitoes and flys because of the trees and water. Ask for help from housekeeping.
