"holidays in El Gouna"
We had a gorgrous time in this wonderful place. Every Thing was great, even the waether. Sunshine and blue sky. The stuff was very friendly and the facilities were fantastic. It was my second stay and I will defnetly come back next year.
"3 Star at Best!"
Let me start by saying the El Gouna resort is amazing with Downtown and the marina plus 2 golf courses and endless sandy beaches this self-contained resort is all you need for an excellent holiday and super secure. However please do not make the same mistake we did by paying for a 5 star hotel in the Movenpick El Gouna and then receiving at best a 3 star hotel and service. Don’t get me wrong I would be more than happy to stay in a 3 star hotel if that is what I paid for and expected on arrival but we didn’t. It is very clear that since the hotel has gone it alone from the Movenpick chain they have drastically reduced over heads by cutting back on costs which are impacting on the service received by their guests and the morale of the hotel staff. The room was good and always kept clean, although I had to request the mini-bar be topped up when they failed to do this several days. The location of the hotel was amazing with the endless warrens of inlets which circulate the resort. I would even give their two ‘a la carte’ restaurants the big thumbs up (you could book them every day if you wanted so this was a saving grace however you would quickly get bored due to the limited menu on offer). However the buffet restaurant was horrid which local families running a mock screaming and shouting, picking the food up from the counters with the hands tasting/smelling it and putting it back from where they picked it up for some other unfortunate sole to pick it up. We had breakfast on the first morning of our holiday and then never went back in there for the remainder of the holiday. We had to make do with buying some food from the local supermarket to make sandwiches for our breakfast and then ate out in the marina and downtown. The saving grace here was that it was reasonably price and good food although we had paid for all-inclusive at a 5 start hotel so we should not need to do this. We spent our days at the lagoon pool side which was right by our room so this was great however I had to pour my own drinks and find my own straws, only twice in the week we was there did someone come to our sun loungers to ask if we wanted a drink and there was an extremely rude waiter there who was angry, rude and to a degree aggressive in manner (Kareem you know who you are!!) When we complained to the hotel and the Thomas Cook rep we was told that this is a self-service 5 star hotel so you should not be complaining, not sure about you but I thought an absolute requirement of a 5 star hotel is 5 star service. If this is a self-service hotel does this mean I have paid for the privilege of serving myself and therefore I am in fact working for the Movenpick hotel for free or are they going to pay me for serving myself!!!!! Finally the evening entertainment is none existent, there was a stage in the centre of the hotel which most evenings 3 girls appeared on there and did a strange dance which consisted of hand waving and bum shaking for the length of the song then disappeared for the rest of the night. With only one evening bar in the whole of the hotel which was situated in the Italian restaurant that made you feel like you have step back in time every time you entered it (also moody staff) you felt short changed of an evening. Although the guest singers who appeared in the Restaurant / only bar were clearly miming as they slipped up several times during their performance was hilarious. There is a night club which you are entitled to free entry but after your first free drink you have to pay for everything thereafter, also no one goes in there too so you’ll be drinking on your own. So in short the all-inclusive drink options are very limited with all the good cocktails like mojito missing, the a la carte menu’s limited with the nice stuff costing you more, service none existent, local families running a mock with no regards for fellow guests, limited wifi in reception and bar only. Scores on the doors Room 4 out of 5 Service 1 out of 5 Location 4 out of 5 Food 3 out of 5 All Inc. Drinks options 2 out of 5 Entertainment 0 out of 5 Value for money 1 out of 5 Combined total scores 15 out of 35 This hotel will no doubt be reduced down to a 3 star when they are next reviewed so I would suggest that if you stay here please only have BB and not All-inclusive or better still find a cheaper hotel in El Gouna and make the most of this excellent vibrant resort as it is totally amazing.
"The best in Gouna"
My room had sea view, and the location is quite superb. I stayed at quite a few hotels and this was by far my favorite of them all. The food is great, and the staff are more than welcoming. Sometimes at night they have great entertainment shows. Also, there are play areas available for the kids.
