"What a wonderful visit!"
This was my second time in the last year to stay at Movich Cartagena. In January 2016 and again in October 2016. I really enjoyed my experience! The customer service is unmatched, everyone seems to really enjoy their jobs and it shows in their smiles. The hotel was beautiful, organized and I intend to come back again soon. The amenities made it so we almost didn't need to leave! Our room was quiet, spacious and decorated well. The breakfast offered was very nice. Only 2 suggestions would be to mix up the music playing throughout the hotel. The euro-electronica lounge music (although very good) can get monotonous and I feel guests would enjoy some variety, especially if it was tropical latin music. 2nd suggestion would be to correct the spellings on your breakfast menu.
"Reservations for March 21-24 and can't get reply from customer service"
I have two separate reservations (ID # 118852315 and #7249853127778) for total of 4 people for March 21-24 totaling $1528. I have been trying to contact the hotel since March 2 and no reply back. I have called the hotel several times directly and due to language barrier - I've been disconnected. I then went thru 3rd party to contact the hotel and had the same experience. I've went to Movich website and sent two inquires and no response. Unfortunately, I have non-refundable rooms. I am extremely concerned that I receive this awful customer service and I haven't even stayed there!! I selected this hotel based on reviews on TripAdvisor but now I have huge regrets. I hope by writing this review, someone from the hotel will contact me. Regardless, I will follow up with another review after my non-refundable stay.
"Only thing decent about this hotel is the pool"
We booked our stay at this "5 star" hotel mainly due to the amazing view of the city from the pool. However, don't expect any service at the pool. There is a "service button" to press...however you will wait 45 minutes for one extremely overpriced drink, which has 10% gratuity included already.. when the staff truly did not deserve a tip after having forgotten about me for nearly an hour. There are VERY FEW chairs at the pool area, so don't expect to get a seat with a view unless you are planning on harassing others for when they will be finished at the pool. Our time at the pool was also quite disturbing, as there was a couple who were doing extremely inappropriate things in the pool, while we were still around. This was extremely inappropriate and extremely unacceptable for a 5 star hotel to tolerate. These guests should have been asked to leave the pool area, instead I felt so uncomfortable I LEFT the pool because i could no longer enjoy the view. The next morning I arrived early to the pool again, with optimism for a new day! NO staff was present. No one was on site to give towels or any service. I even went as far as checking behind the bar myself for towels, yet there was nothing. There were about 8 of us standing around all anxious, hot, and irritated waiting for staff that could not care less to be present. The rooms have a nice view, however the beds are nothing special. It is a small feeling room, kind of hostel-esc. Our air conditioner also did not work..our room temp was set to 26C.. The air con was leaking excessively and left a large puddle in our room. We were forced to use the fan on high speed the entire stay, making for an unpleasant and cold sleep. Upon arrival no one was there to help us with our bags, and upon checkout we called down to the front desk TWICE to have our bags brought down and no one showed up!! When confronting the front desk they blatantly lied and said but the staff member had been on his way up, however there is ONE elevator which we used to come down..and we did not see him in passing. ALSO the hotel and the taxi service they use are giving each other kick backs. They will OVERCHARGE you knowing that they will get a cut from your trip. We had privately arranged with one of the taxi drivers for a day trip, and when he told us how much it was we decided not to go. Then, extremely unprofessionally, the front desk called asking if we had planned to go on a tour and why we decided not to go' This was none of their business as they are not a tour arrangement agency. The only positives about this hotel was the beautiful fruit lady, the breakfast, and the pool view. Also be aware, the pool closes often and denies guests access due to private functions. Extremely disappointed with my stay here. Truly was a damper on my trip to Cartagena.
"Great stay at the Movich!"
The Movich is a lovely boutique hotel, with a lot of great amenities, including a restaurant and a rooftop pool and bar. Everything is very clean, and tastefully decorated. The best part of our stay was the Staff, especially, Wilson, our bellperson/concierge - he was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, caring and on point with all of our requests (and we had many: about currency exchange; organizing a tour outside of the Walled City; transportation to and from the airport; restaurants; etc.) The best demonstration of his care was when my husband left his fleece jacket in the van on the way to the airport, and Wilson went out of his way to locate the driver, and ensure that they returned the jacked to airport security before our plane took off - amazing customer service!
"A beutiful hotel in the heart of the Historic District."
The Movich is a first class hotel with beautiful rooms and excellent service. We had a spectacular room, 205, with a sitting area and a bathroom the size of most hotel rooms along with a lovely balcony.
