"These people really know how to care for a guest"
This hotel is well situated in the Old Town. Breakfast is served off a menu not a buffet. The front desk is very helpful and responsive. The wait staff in the restaurant or at the pool is likewise. The rooms may not be expansive, but they are modern and comfortable. We got a foot massage which was so pleasant after a day of walking.
"Awful service and management"
It's pretty incredible that a high end hotel can be managed so poorly. We booked for three days and chose it specifically for the rooftop pool. Since we arrived late night the first day, we only had two days to appreciate the sunset by the pool. Big mistake!! The hotel rents out the rooftop for private events and hotel guests are not allowed from 2pm onwards! When we asked the hotel staff for a solution, since sunset by the pool was the reason we chose the hotel, they were inflexible and could only say they would speak to the manager. The manager never showed up. No apologies from anyone. Some of the staff are friendly, but some act as they're doing a great favor. Food often arrived lukewarm or cold. The Greek salad with feta cheese had no cheese. When asked which dish would be the fastest, the waitress responded that we would have to pick a dish and then she would go ask in the kitchen the preparation time. The pasta that was supposed to take 15 minutes, took 30! The milk they serve at breakfast has already soured. Finally as a coronation, at the checkout, the clerk was reckless and was about to charge us 430 thousand pesos more of undue charges. Worse, he and his boss were both unable to use the credit card machine and spent more than 15 minutes trying the different cards with no success. Finally when I pressed them saying they would have to find an alternative method because I would otherwise lose my flight, they magically showed up with a different machine that worked at the first attempt. In summary, if you want a hassle-, worry-, stress-free experience, better look somewhere else.
"Be aware great view but rip off place"
Movich rooftop I grabbed drinks w friends and family at the Movich. The view was fab. Service terrible. They didn't have silverware or cushions on the benches. They excused it on the idea that they were being washed... we moved close to the bar, appetizers took forever to be served and price was as New York City. Tip was 10% included, a rip off if you ask me!
We and our friends just returned from a four night visit to Cartagena, Colombia. Our stay at the Movich de las Indias hotel was fantastic! The staff simply could not be more professional, courteous, or helpful. Our rooms were spotlessly clean with rainhead showers, flat screen television, and even some English language channels. The rooftop pool was an extra added attraction, as was the rooftop bar and restaurant. The views were 360, and it was never really crowded. Dilys, at the front desk staff, helped us to arrange great restaurants and a beach tour. She, Wilson, the breakfast serving staff, and everyone at this hotel are top notch. We would love to return to this wonderful city and would stay at the Movich every time!
"Great staff, nice boutique hotel!"
Our stay was not without quite the issue. When we arrived, we knew our room that was book was two double beds. When we checked in, we were taken to the second floor to a room with a king bed and all the windows faced a brick wall. It took a lot of digging our heels in and complaining along with our tour company to get us to a room with a view. We found out by some guests we met that that was their room. They had booked a room for four so needed two beds so they got our room! Although the room they gave us was an upgrade, we weren't going to look at brick walls for a view. The next day we were upgraded to an even nicer room that was terrific and included a balcony. I am so glad they did that because we would have moved to another hotel. They also left an apology letter with an appetizer. Thanks Movich. The only reason I give 4 stars was because of the problem with the room. It really took a lot of work to get it changed. Thanks to the hotel staff that are extremely nice while I had laryngitis. They made me special teas and were happy to do it. And to Ronald and Naireth in the dining room...you guys were great!
