"Perfect spot by the river for a relaxing trip to Florence"
We stayed here for 3 nights at the start of our Tuscany tour. The hotel is located about 15 minutes by taxi from the centre of Florence & positioned on the banks of the river, it's a beautiful area. On arrival we were offered an upgrade for a extra €30 per night which gave us a room with a river view, the hotel was fairly quite so it was a little surprising they didn't offer this for free but never mind, we enjoyed the view nonetheless. Good room & good bathroom with jacuzzi bath & shower. The bed was a little hard but each to their own, there were quite a lot of lights from room controls & some kind of night light thing came on in the middle of the night & woke us up one time but all minor things really. Lovely restaurant where you can sit inside or by the river, high quality food & wines with good service, especially from the older man who runs the bar area who was very friendly & looked after us. Good breakfast options. Very good local fish restaurant within walking distance. Fair sized swimming pool, not heated (most aren't in Italy) but all good. Spa is basic with sauna & a couple of massage tables but you can book it for exclusive use by the hour which is good. This is great base camp from which to explore Florence & then spend time relaxing afterwards. The hotel offers several free shuttle trips into the city in both morning & afternoon but inevitably we found that you will end up needing to catch a taxi in one direction or the other, approx €20. We flew into Pisa & then caught the train to Florence, then taxi to the hotel which worked well. Only on our last day did we then pick up the hire car from Florence & head south to Siena etc. There is plenty of secure parking at the hotel but the city centre is heavily restricted so it's best to leave your car at the hotel or do like we did & pick it up when you plan to leave Florence. Friendly staff & we really enjoyed our stay here, would happily go back again.
everything is just splendid about this hotel. The location offers a nice view on the river and is quietly situated just outside the city. All amenities are in perfect order. The staff is most friendly and highly service oriented. Wifi, shuttle and bicycles are for free.
"Wonderful Romantic Hotel"
Just returned from this amazing hotel. We booked a room with a garden and fantastic view of the river. Everything about this hotel was class from the fantastic rooms, amazing decor with superb paintaings and ornaments to the very chic restaurant. This hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway a few miles outside Florence and located next to the river makes it a very peaceful place to be. Regular free shuttle buses to Florence are always on time and drop you off right in the middle of the town. Florence is an amazingly cultured place and the Mulino Di Firence is a superb base but to be honest the starts of the show are the superbly friendly and efficient staff who cant do enough for you and the service is the best I have encountered anywhere. They even brought me a birthday cake on a silver platter to my room even though I did not tell them it was my birthday.
"Great place to stay away from the crowds."
I wanted to see Florence, but I wanted to stay somewhere quiet. This place's location fit the bill nicely. Transportation (if you can't make use of the hotel shuttle: Campo di Marte (the train station that isn't downtown): 20 euros each way Downtown (Duomo, for example): 15-20 euros The view from the room was astonishing. I stayed in Room 116 and the view of the river was worth the bit of extra money. Very comfortable bed and clean, average bathroom/shower. There's not much in the way of restaurants near this hotel, so I'd suggest doing your dining while you're in the main part of town. There is 1 restaurant that was decent nearby, but not very lively. Hotel staff was also very nice and helpful in figuring out where to eat and shop. The restaurant is pretty basic, but good if you just need a quick bite before hitting the road for some sightseeing.
"Beautiful, Relaxing Hotel Close to Florence"
My wife and I stayed at the Mulino de Firenze for 7 nights, using it as a base from which to explore Tuscany. The hotel itself is in a very pleasant location some 4-5 km away from the bustling centre of Florence. It is on old converted mill right next to the river Arno with an interesting history, which the staff are very keen to tell you about. We had planned on a Superior Room with a river view and, on arrival, were allocated Room 110. It had a nice view of the river but was relatively small and had limited storage space (drawers) for clothes. As we were there for an extended stay we paid a 30 Euro per night supplement for an additional upgrade to the Junior Suite (Room 106) which was very spacious, again with a lovely view across the river and towards the nearby hills. Without exception, the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfasts provided a good choice and the meals that we ate in the Restaurant and Bar were of a good quality; the hotel also did its best to cater for my wife's Gluten intolerance but the choice could have been greater. Being some distance away from the centre of Florence has its advantages if you want to get away from the crowds, and the recent addition of a new swimming pool and sunbed area certainly provides an area for relaxation; although the water was quite cold at the end of September it was tolerable. The free shuttle bus service that runs 3 return journeys in the morning and a further 3 in the late afternoon is a great benefit when you consider that a one-way taxi to the centre of Florence can cost between 20 and 30 Euros. We would certainly recommend the Mulino di Firenze to anyone wanting a tranquil atmosphere during their stay close to Florence; if we are visiting the area again we would certainly stay there.
