"Fantastic front desk staff"
Stayed 6 nights in a October. First night a life style room in the 4th floor without windows but super quiet. The remaining 5 nights in a life style room on the 3rd floor with windows and balcony, but was a bit of street noise and could hear music from nearby bars. Loved the design of the rooms, even so not everything is practical and functional. First room had as good as no wardrobe space while all drawers and shelves occupied by different amenities. 2nd room was much better. But OMG, how many room switches and lamps one room needs. Takes a lot of time to switch off all the lights! Bed super comfortable. Fantastic tea and coffee making facilities and having proper cream instead of cream powder was excellent. Loved the complimentary soft drinks, water, juices and cookies in the minibar. Complimentary smart phone use is a great service. Location very good. Near to underground, easy walk to Chinatown and to many bars and good restaurants. Breakfast not very exciting, one of the smallest assortments ever seen in all of Asia, but it was OK as it had the basic options I like for breakfast. Never many people breakfast, so no lining up and waiting times. Breakfast staff did was not attentive to refill juices - we had to point it out almost every morning. The hotel design is interesting and the atmosphere is very good. I loved it. The best part of the hotel is the very ambitious and very attentive front desk staff - by day and night. Customer service seems to be natural. Always friendly and helpful, answers and solutions for all our questions. But also the housekeeping staff was always greeting and smiling. The staff is actually the main reason I come back because the funky design can actually be topped with more functional and practical hotels. One word to the hotel management. How can you justify a lobby full of design chairs while the front desk staff has either no chair at all or they use a old, bad looking and simply uncomfortable camping type of chair sitting so low, allowing hardly to reach the key board of the computer. Attending to the needs of the staff and giving them proper working tools and conditions should be as much priority than impress hotel guests with expensive and funky decoration and furniture. Overall, this hotels gives a welcome and homey feel, mainly due to the wonderful front desk staff.
"Delicious food in a hidden corner of chinatown"
The food here is delicious, do not judge this quiet hotel sitting in a corner of Chinatown. The food served at the restaurant is out of the ordinary delicious, fresh and interesting! i would recommend to have a cozy banquet here for a celebration if you are looking for a place quiet yet in central area.
"Good location on outskirts of Chinatown; comfortable and original hotel"
Stayed for 2 nights as part of SPG free nights redemption. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Room was comfortable and interesting in it's design, and the little extras you get e.g. free soft drinks/oreo cookies in the mini bar were very welcome. As an international traveller the free use of a "Handy" mobile phone with unlimited mobile data and international calls was extremely useful. Gym and pool facilities are not extensive but are perfectly adequate and in line with what one would expect from a hotel of this size (i.e. 5-10m pool, treadmills, rower, multi-gym). Location is on the outskirts of Chinatown, but is ideal for exploring the rest of the city via the MRT as Outram Park station is just next door.
"Funky room, great service"
This hotel should be well known for their funky room designs as different rooms have different designs. I had a Lifestyle room, and I was originally put into a room that had no window (room 401), so I requested to change. So I was given another room, the layout was good just that the design was too funky as it was in shocking pink and dark blue (room 306) ... unfortunately, it was running a full house, so there was no third room to choose from unless I wanted to change my room two grades down. My room had the shower and bath combined, and I have to say, the step was a little high to climb into the bath. Water temperature was unstable. Good amenity as they use Kiehl's, though I find the shampoo is in fact not too effective in washing off hair products. Nice to have free mini bar though nothing real attractive. Perfect service as they were able to provide me a room (subject to availability) for shower after check out when I returned to pick up my luggage.
"Quirky hotel in a nice neighbourhood"
Hotel is a design hotel, so the rooms can be interesting. Ours has the toilet and shower basically in the bedroom which was a little more interesting than we aimed for. Otherwise the bed was comfortable and the soft drinks in the minibar were included, which was nice. The gym is small but functional and the pool is pretty good. Location wise it's in a nice older neighbourhood with lots of little restaurants and bars, so a lovely place to spend an evening. Only thing that was a bit of a let down was breakfast which wasn't too exciting.
