Finished Rhine Cruise and allowed day of sightseeing. Paid 20 Euro to "upgrade" & ck in early for room that had a view but couldn't have been any noiser. Ear plugs were on the bedside tables, should have been a clue. Had to open windows to cool room which increased noise. Had to walk walk up 1/2 flight of stairs to lift-not fun at 70 & 72 with luggage (early departure-no bellman). Forget furnished breakfast if early plane departure. Room rather drab, bed comfortable. Early morning ck out friendlier than mid-morning ck in.
"Reasonably priced.... but you get what you pay for"
Old hotel with interesting charm. Location is excellent. Easy walk to old Amsterdam. However, not up to typical NH standards. Extremely small rooms. No air conditioning. Beds are very small and uncomfortable.
"Keeps Getting' Better!"
My Honey Bee and I stayed again at the Schiller; it is so fine. The staff is outstanding and really makes it feel like home. All of them are GREAT; Mr Abdel Alaami helped us each morning with a breakfast buffet that will blow your mind. The perfect start for a day of hiking and picnicking in Amsterdam. We will be back! Give it a try and get tickets for the RTL Late Nite show (The Tonight show of the Netherlands); Very Cool!! Hope to see you there, Enjoy!
"very loud, tiny rooms"
The hotel has a great location in the inner city of Amsterdam. However that come at the cost of really noisy rooms, where you constantly hear the party, trams, and heating in front of the house. There are ear plugs next to the bed as default... Single rooms are tiny, not even enough space to open your bag. Breakfast is expensive but at least good. Overall an overrated hotel.
"Good breakfast, but that's about it ..."
Tiny rooms, front side very loud especially on the weekend. Getting a new room to the back worked on the 4th day of my stay. Way too expensive for the price. Breakfast costly but good. Don't expect any other extras. There are none!
