"Beautiful room and hotel, but very expensive"
I stayed here for two nights with my boyfriend and our room was beautiful. It was decorated nicely and the bed is the most comfortable thing I've ever slept on. However, be aware that the doors are really heavy so they slam shut quite quickly and early in the morning all you can hear is everyone clashing their doors so it's a very noisy hotel. The only other downside was that for some reason you had to pay a €50 deposit in case you used the mini bar in the room (which was never explained to us before arrival) and the drinks inside were so expensive. We were also going to order breakfast for the two of us due to the good reviews but that was another €40!! The €50 deposit was given back to us on departure minus the city tax, but as she gave us the money back in euros even though we paid her in pounds we ended up losing money. Overall it was an excellent room and very comfortable stay, but the high prices and noise were a disadvantage.
After extensive research, we picked the NH based on it's location and it was spot on! We were greeted by friendly staff who was helpful in holding our bags until our room was ready. She also gave us two drink tickets to the bar, which we regrettably did not redeem since we were never at the hotel during "happy hour". We booked a Standard double room - which did not have the greatest view (overlooked an alley) but did not bother us since we did not spend most of the day in the room. If you're looking for a canal view you may need to upgrade. The shower/bathroom area was very clean, nice and modern. The room was also very clean as well. Our only quip was that our sheets were not changed during our 5 night stay. Tip: note what is in your mini-bar area when checking in and double-check your bill on check-out. When we checked in there was a candy bar missing that was later re-filled and added to our bill, even though we did not eat it. It was really nice to have the hotel face the canals and also be so close to the trams. We walked to Grand Centraal most days which was only about a 15 min walk. There were a ton of restaurants, shops, pubs near by. Overall - I would definitely stay here again!
"Great location and lovely service"
My other half and I had visited Amsterdam before but not together, so we wanted to be in the mix but not too close to the noise! This hotel was welcoming, clean, central and would therefore recommend! Sri, who looked after us at breakfast was lovely! Complimentary champagne was certainly a great start to our day! Great city with great people. See you soon Amsterdam!
"go for it!"
the location, staff, warm hospitality, support, always with smile, all was great! if you wish to have good time during your vacation, choosing the right hotel is most important and this was the case during our stay.
Well we flew from the US and we landed at 8am in the morning. No one told me we could not check in until 3pm. They redeemed themselves by giving us the room at 2.30pm. We booked a superior room and expected it to accommodate 3people. Well we had to wait for a third bed to be rolled in after being given the keys. The room was well appointed and everything was clean. I suggest you get a room on a higher floor as we were at street level and we heard everything, shoes clonking, conversations on the street etcetera. Their biggest plus was that the front desk was very hospitable and friendly and won us over with their smiles.
