A 3-minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal train station, this polished hotel in a 17th-century building is a 9-minute walk from Dam Square and 2.9 km from the Van Gogh Museum.
Perfect location and very friendly staff.Comment of H. Ian , United Kingdom the 2016-05-29
"Perfect location "
Right in the center of town. You wake up to an amazing view. 3 min walk to the train, and bus stations within minutes away. Modern interior and recently remodeled. Next time I visit, I will be sure to stay here again. Thanks for the awesome stay
"Not the Barbizon of old"
Barbizon was to be remodelled in 2016. After remodelling, the hotel lost many guest conveniences. Now the elevators dont work. The heating system does not work. The front office reservations give you no guarantees, even if you are a NH rewards platinum member. There are better hotels in Amsterdam!
"Great location, Great hotel, Great staff = Great stay"
From the moment I booked to the moment we checked out we had a lovely experience with this hotel. I booked for my boyfriends' birthday and arranged with the hotel for them to leave a card, balloons and 2 small bottles of cava (with glasses) in the room for our arrival. The staff (both in the hotel and in customer service departmetn) were very friendly and welcoming throughout our short 2 night stay. The hotel is located just a 3 minute walk from the main train station, and 1 minute from the red light district so is ideal for anyone looking for convenience and ease of getting around. Although in a busy area, we did not hear any noise from the street. The hotel, including the room is very clean, modern and spacious and it earns all of it's 5 stars in my eyes! In a rush to get up and go to the airport early in the morning we accidently left a wallet and keys behind in the room but the hotel staff were amazing and agreed to post it back to the UK for us to save us from missing our flight. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. It was a pleasure
Think we got a good deal with a package through ba website as this hotel was very much above average. Room was spacious and clean, the staff were excellent in every way and the continental breakfast was superb
"Nice hotel but services not 5 stars"
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. It was a nice hotel in a great location. The breakfast buffet was amazing too. When we checked into our room, the water in the toilet bowl was brownish. I flushed it and the water cleared. I was not sure if it was a plumbing problem or if the room had not been cleaned properly. So I highlighted this to the guest relations staff who promptly contacted housekeeping to check on it and to check the room too. The guest relations staff was responsive and you get a feeling that he cares for the guests. On the 2nd evening, I had some urgent work to do and called Front Desk for an adaptor (there was a signage in the room that said we could ask Front Desk for universal adaptors). My laptop was bought in Switzerland and this model has a 3 pin round plug. The plugs in the room were for 2 pin round plugs. When I first called Front Desk, the staff said she would send a staff up with the adaptor. Half an hour later, when nobody came by, I called again and she said the staff was on the way up. After another 15 minutes, I made another call and now she said they did not have a universal adaptor that could fit my Swiss plug. Reason being the hotel only stock adaptors for US and UK plugs! I thought that was a ridiculous reason especially since the hotel hosts so many international guests. I told the Front desk so and she replied that she would feedback to the hotel to stock up on more adaptors that cater to other countries. I do not think this is the true reason at all, so this lack of service tainted our good stay there.
