"Second visit "
As the first stay, second was good. Staff - polite and attentive. Room-cozy and clean. Only faucet was a little leaky (in the shower). Breakfast- diverse and delicious. You do the great job and it's pleasure to stay here.
"Amazing Service, Great Location, Fantastic City. What more does one want'"
My wife and I spent 5 memorable nights at the NH Doelen. We loved the location, walking distance to the town center, flower market, and the fabulous Amsterdam Museums. We prefer smallish boutique hotels, and this one fit our preference perfectly. It has the charm of the oldest hotel in Amsterdam, but offers modern amenities as it has been recently renovated. We chose to pay a higher price for an upper floor room with a canal view, and it was definitely worth it. The Hotel's restaurant offers an eclectic menu and wine list. We had a superbly delicious dinner there. We recommend it highly for its cuisine and service. Amsterdam has its share of fine dining, and this was certainly one of the better dining experiences in the city. It is probably a bit under rated as it is in a Hotel, but discerning guests will appreciate its cuisine. While the hotel location and facilities were excellent, the outstanding service by the friendly and helpful staff made our stay especially pleasant. The front desk staff made great suggestions for restaurants, booked tickets for us, and were genuinely interested in our experience of their wonderful city. It was a pleasure to share our day's excursions with them, giving our experiences a personal touch. We learned that the staff had participated in the extensive remodeling; perhaps that is why it was clear to us that everyone was proud of the hotel, and committed to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. A very special thank you to Deirdre in Guest Relations. My wife mentioned to her that some of our friends had told us that Stroopwafels are a delicious Dutch treat. When we returned to our room later that night, we found a box of Stroopwafels on our bed with a touchingly delightful note from Dierdre, which we have kept as a fond memory of our wonderful holiday at the NH Dolen. We recommend the NH Doelen without reservation for its location, amenities and, most of all, for its wonderful staff.
We spent two nights at the hotel and found it to be in an excellent location in old town. The staff were very friendly, pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was great with various options from the buffet or cooked to order by the chef. Beautiful room, only thing that we could criticize was that the hand basin was in the bedroom not in the shower room/toilet. It did not spoil our stay though and some people may find it helpful when getting ready.
Is this realy a five star hotel. The room was too small. No gym or spa. Breakfast was realy good. The whole style a bit outdated. Nothing wrong in hotel, but also nothing inspiring! Stayed here for Hotelnight!
"Good Service and Great Location"
The Doelen is at the heart of Amsterdam. We were told that this was the first hotel to operate in the city and though we could see its age in some of the woodwork this was not the case in much of the hotel. The bedrooms and bathrooms were completely modern, clean, and beautiful. The Swych Restaurant overlooks the canal and serves a fantastic breakfast. Pay the added upgrade fee to include breakfast in your stay. It's worth it. The Doelen is a beautiful hotel but where it shines brightest is the service of its staff. Nikola, Rudolph, and Lex are three shining stars at this hotel. There were others and I wish I'd remembered their names (especially the front-desk staff). It's because of them that we'd book our next stay in Amsterdam at the Doelen.
