The hotel is ideally located just a 2-minute walk from Les Planches along the coast and 200m from the Deauville Casino.

"Hotel "Derriere" Le Normandy is at the "bottom" of my list"
The second we walked into the hotel and saw our rooms we decided to leave!!! Underwhelming and outdated decor. The rooms are not only small but also dingy and dark and worst of all the entire hotel smelled like chlorine. The colors and furniture coupled with the lack of ambiance made me feel like I was in a Best Western hotel or Marriot chain hotel. There was nothing unique or intriguing despite the fact that they use very clever marketing tactics and good photography claiming that many Hollywood stars are patrons . Bottom line , this is not a 5 star hotel , especially for a frequent traveler who knows what 5 stars really signifies. Beware of the no cancellation policy in which we unfortunately did not get our money back despite the fact that we were unhappy and decided to leave even after we drove 2 hours from Paris. The fact that we had already paid for a 3 day stay and still ended up leaving sums it up about how we felt about the accommodations. If you do not mind seeing people walking the halls in their robes and slippers , smelling chlorine or getting run over in the halls by kids zipping by in scooters in the hotel then this is the place for you. Please don't get me wrong as I love children but I really do not want to feel like I am staying at a Disney resort. I do not feel that a hotel claiming to be 5 stars would allow this. The only thing that was 5 stars are the high rates.
"There is little reason to think of staying anywhere else in Deauville"
For me, there is no better escape from Paris than a stay at the Normandy Deauville Hotel. For decades now, for my family this is has been a staple of cool days in summer enjoying the channel breezes that the hotel has seemed an extension of home, sometimes with a home with a few things that needed upgrades, but still home and a grand home at that. It is never the grandest experience, but it is a grand experience just the same. From the turrets that take your breath away, to the timber large and imposing, to its commanding position on the seafront to the broad corridors to the Belle Epoque dining room and sitting areas on the Planches where my son Owen and I have stared at the world from Deauville, to the feeling of a transported, if grander, version of Hollywood's Chateau Marmont on the Channel, the hotel is impressive in every way and there is little reason to go thinking of staying anywhere else in Deauville. The new upgrades have given the rooms new hues and new life, retiring some of the tired reds for some more calming blues. Now it feels more like the home we always wished would have the new tones we wished it had. The service of late has been a bit more surly than usual, but if you forget that and take it all in -- the setting, the architecture, the style, the comfortable life it evokes -- you are in a modern bit of history that is just not that easily found in as pleasant a setting anywhere on Earth...
"NOT a five star in my book"
After staying at the Royal last year was looking forward to the 'upgrade' to what I had been told was a much better hotel in the Normandy What a disappointment Slow check in, with staff who were at best intellectually challenged and very slow. The rooms themselves are fine and quite comfortable, however the shower arrangements with a trickling 'rain' shower and an inadequately powered hand shower attachment were bad. Also not enough towels in the rooms Speant a fair bit of time in the bar and was extremely disatisfied with the service there . On the whole the staff just did not seem to give a toss, except for one waitress called Appolinare who was just superb,. In my view this hotel is not a five star hotel and had I been paying the rack rate for the room, I would have been extremely angry. Also there is not enough parking available for guests and other small thing rankled
"Late October break in Normandie"
Recently renovated, the Normandy resort kept his aim with the Toile de Jouy on the wall, new bathroom design with multi function bath. The excellent service is still there, execept the breakfast management team (specially one person on duty this monday October 31st) at the reception desk who could get his permit to work in a central jail, but for her excuse, the breakfast room is extremely noisy at peak hour! When you tasted at the Normandy it is difficult to change but it is worth!
"Bar service well below acceptable standards"
You come to the Normandy with high expectations and you are bitterly disappointed when visiting their bar. We arrived there and a waiter gave us a cocktail list. 30 minutes later our order had not been taken. When we went to the barman, he said he was busy. 10 more minutes and we went to him again, and he paid no attention whatsoever. After 45 minutes in total, we left without having been able to place our order. And the place was not even full! In the lift, we heard two regular clients comment the appalling service at the bar in the absence of the usual head barman. I'm afraid I share this opinion. The rest is fine : reception, bell service, etc. are up to expectations, but that bar is a real shame for an hotel of that category.
