We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The food wasn't very good and the room might have been a bit bigger, but it was very clean and we were especially happy with the excellent service and the friendly staff. Our special thanks go out to Jerome, who makes the best cocktails, Anduel who was very kind, Royston who has a great sense of humour, Nina who was very helpful and Marcel who made our check in the best ever.Comment of V. "Weekend pre Christmas break"
Great hotel, very helpful staff, front desk, bar staff and waiters. Very close to the Tram to get you into the City Centre. Also close to the train station to get you to and from the airport. Breakfast is very good has a lot to choose from for every nationality staying at the hotel. The only minor query I did have is in the room there is no milk to make your tea or coffee and if you ask for reception they will charge you 5 euros to bring you some up, so we just asked the restaurant and took it up ourselves. The rooms are very clean and big enough as you are only sleeping in the. Overall very good hotel.
"Amazing room, disappointing breakfast"
When we arrived at the hotel we decided to upgrade to the deluxe king room with the larger bed. The room was spacious with a beautiful view, the bed was fantastic and very comfortable however the bathroom was a little disappointing. It was nice and big but the shower was very small and the water pressure left a lot to be desired. The staff were wonderful to deal with, very personable and professional and were very helpful in giving us instructions on how to catch public transport as well as which sights to see in the city. The breakfast was disappointing and underwhelming and very expensive for what was provided in comparison to other hotels that we have stayed at (24 euro each for full buffet breakfast). The location is a little out of the city but there is a tram stop a very short walk away, you can purchase a 1 or 2 day pass on the tram itself which makes travelling to the city centre very easy. Our overall experience was very good.
"Good Hotel for the Exhibition Centre"
Convenient location for the Convention Centre District where you can walk to Rai Station and the Exhibition centre. The hotel is contemporary in style, large and the rooms a decent size. Make sure you allow time to get out of the hotel as they have the world's slowest lifts(elevators)! From the 14th floor it took 5 mins! Breakfast offered a good choice. In terms of fun though, you'll need to get a taxi downtown as there's not much in the Convention Centre District. Transit to Schipol reasonable.
"Good Hotel, good conference installations and friendly staff"
Good hotel, standard novotel room... Wifi could be faster. Elevators are a little crazy, room keys failed several times... this was annoying... Breakfast and restaurant are also ok. Good option to go to city center is the blue line tram (station at walking distance)
"A Good Business Hotel"
Novotel properties are never particularly fancy but they typically provide the basics with a bit of style. The Amsterdam City property is no exception. What made the difference for me was the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. They could not have been nicer. The room was clean and adequate. The Wifi worked well. The television channel selection was limited (no CNN International). As a result of foul weather, I wound up eating several meals in the bar. The Irish steak was quite good as was the burger. The breakfast buffet was a bit irregular. The omelet station was always good though there were days when other items seemed to be in short supply. The location is good if you are going to be at the convention center--it's about a ten-minute walk away. About halfway along that walk is the tram into the center city which is truly handy. You can take transit to and from the airport quite easily (and inexpensively), too. It is only one stop away.
