"Stopover prior to river cruise"
Excellent hotel, very comfortable large room and king bed, free Wi-Fi in room. Well located a 5-10 minutes walk from the train station, bus terminal and the Lake. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. No restaurant, but buffet style breakfast substantial. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable, booked a couple of trips through reception
This 4 star Novotel is centrally based and only 5 minutes from the train station. It is a large hotel with leisure facilities but alas no pool. There was a n initial problem with the details of our booking but the reception team resolved this when they saw our confirmation. Our room was quite small but sufficient for our needs. The room was clean. TV had BBC and itv. Bathroom clean but the towels were very thin. British 4 star hotels have nice thick towels. Maybe a cultural thing' The hotel is backed into the red light district but the girls are not intrusive. You get a free travel ticket on check in. Breakfast is very fresh. Cold buffet excellent. Hot food poor by British standards but I prefer cold breakie. I would agree that the hotel is over priced but most things are in Geneva. We enjoyed our stay in a great location.
"Can be better"
We stayed 2 nights in novotel Genève centre, which is quite expensive comparing with room space, commodity and 4* standard, the only positive point is the location, good wifi, and nice warm staff, enjoyed as well the breakfast. The room price need really to be reviewed especially during the week, novotel is yielding high, believe due to location!! Recommended to stay during weekend which is more interesting in terms of price!!!!!
"Great location! "
The hotel is centrally located and the staff are very helpful. But the entrance to the hotel is awkward, especially if you've got a large suitcase..you have to walk down a staircase, so it's not ideal if you've got a heavy bag. The hotel also backs on to the red light district, so it's something to bear in mind. Having said that it's a stones throw away from the lake, main station and bus stops. The room are well appointed and comfortable.
"Great Stay in the heart of Downtown Geneva"
Just returned from a stay in Geneva. Booked this hotel through Booking.com as the reviews and location seemed good. Stayed there for two nights. Arrived on Sunday at 12pm. Although official check in wasn't until 2pm i was allowed to check in early. They didn't have a concierge however i wouldn't have expected one in a Novotel. The check in staff was very helpful speaking English. On check in i was given a free bus and tram pass complimentary to get around Geneva. The room (room 119) was a very good size for the price i paid. it had a large bed and ensuite bathroom. It didn't have a separate shower however the sink was large. The room came with toiletries such as body wash and shampoo and soap. It also had a kettle and tea, cups, sugar and coffee. It had a minibar stocked with drink and also snacks in the form of Pringles. It didn't have an iron or ironing board, however there is a separate room down the corridor with 2 irons and ironing boards. The TV to my surprise had proper English channels such as BBC 1, BBC 2, Cbeebies, ITV1, ITV2 and ITV4!! There is a gym on the floor below reception with a separate room in which there is a steam room and a sauna. No pool i'm afraid. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel too which is very good. A great asset to the hotel is it's location. It is 5 mins walk from rue de mont blanc which has lots of shops and restaurants. There is a mexican restaurant nearby and some good indian restaurants too with Punjabi food (Gandhi Cafe)! It is 3 mins away from Cornavin which has a huge tram station and underground shopping centre. Also it is 5 mins walk from the River Rhone and across the bridge are the prestigious rue de rhone shops housing names such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermes, etc, etc. One word of caution if you are travelling with kids. This is in downtown Geneva. After about 9pm you will see prostitutes and their pimps on the street. They don't say anything and are harmless however it's just a word of warning. This is not the fault of the hotel. It's just the area it is located in. Overall a great experience and a great stay. Top quality hotel for the price you pay and very accessible.
