This is a great hotel. It is blocks from Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall, Pariserplatz, Alexanderplatz, around the corner from Gendarmenmarkt... Great if you like walking to things, but not having to walk far. Underground parking available, U-Bahn and bus within a block or two.
"Good price, location and a clean place to rest up."
Price was reasonable and in a convenient location close to two subway lines. There are shops and cafes close by, and some of the major tourist sights can be reached by foot. The rooms are clean and decor modern, though some people who are used to larger spaces may find the room and bathroom small. Wireless internet works fine and reception is efficient (they had to receive a misplaced baggage delivery - no problems). I didn't have breakfast here as there are quite a few coffee shops in the vicinity. If you're looking for a no-frills place to rest up, this is a great choice.
"Excellent hotel in Berlin for two"
The place is in the center of the city, very near the Charlotte strasse metro station, Checkpoint Charlie museum. Very polite receptionist. The prices are acceptable - 50 euro for double room, which is clean and cozy. You can take room with view to the street or to the inner yard. I prefer the street. The room has air conditioning, cabel TV and WiFi. All in all - a perfect place to sleep after a day long walk in Berlin.
"Not a 4 star but OK"
I would not rate this hotel as a 4-star. Lobby is nothing to speak of. Staff was OK. There is only 1 elevator but that did not affect us. The hotel is stark. The room was very small. 2 of us had carry-on pieces of luggage and there was no where to unpack anything (or to even store our bags). Our room could have used a paint job. The bathroom was clean so that was good. We had to figure out how to use the lights, etc. We did figure out that there were outdoor covers over the windows which we could lower at night. This was extremely helpful because our room was on the main road (Leipzigerstrasse) which was VERY loud. The staff was fine. They did not really seem interested in answering questions but they were professional. Breakfast buffet was good - scrambled eggs, hardboiled eggs, bacon, sausage, breads, yogurts, deli meats. They had everything we would want. Breakfast is from 6:30 to 10:30 which is a great time span to work with. Staff at the buffet was great- friendly, personable, helpful. It was a good 20-30 minute walk to Alexanderplatz. Probably a 20 minute walk to Brandenburg Gate. 5 minute walk to Gendarmenmarkt. 2 minutes to major stores (Galeries Lafayette) The U-Bahn (Stadmitte) is around the corner which is great. The neighborhood was nothing to speak of. Everything shut down at night. We had a tough time finding places to eat or have a drink in the evening (other than hotel bars or the touristy cafes around Gendarmenmarkt). We ended up at Lowenbrau (1 block away) our first day and Paulaner (3 blocks away) on our last night. We would probably opt to stay closer to Rosenthaler Platz or Oranienburger which we found to be have more personality and a nicer vibe. There were also alot more restaurants, etc and a better night life with cafes, etc.
"Not worth your money, not a 4 star hotel worthy"
Disappointing experience no 4 star hotel ranking worthy. You spend more than you receive back. The entrance already has a lack of appeal and doesnt show that you are in a four star hotel. Only one elevator so you have to be patient when its busy. Staff is not very well in English language and that is already a challenge. Even in German you may find it challenging. The hallways are like an office with no attraction for the eye at all. Appeal of a four star hotel is not present. The room, hummmm small, simple and lack of taste and inspiration. I had even issues with the lights, windows etc, and that couldnt be fixed by technicians. But room change also not possible. Reduction on price also not possible. So i only had the lamp at the ceiling. While going to the bathroom during the night you had to feel your way to the light switch as there were none beside the bed. The light switch was almost next to the door of the entance of the room. Just like the wall outlets for charging your phone, also far from the bed. Meaning you need to get out of bed in the dark to turn of your alarm when you charge your phone or bring long long charger cables. No bed lamps at both sides of the bed either. Storage space is a bit minimalistic. If you stay here for a week or several days with two people you might have issues storing your stuff. No standard bathrobe and slippers. The bathroom is the small, with the most tiny and smallest shower of about 0.5 to 0.7 square meters. Im 1.86m tall, i had difficulties to move and fit under the shower. Bit forward and i was out of the shower, bit backwards and i either hit the water tap which didnt provide constant heated water. Ask for a room away from the Leipzigerstrasse if you choose to stay here. You are easily woken up by the traffic. Breakfast is ok with the basic standards and at least a bit more appeal. Looks like a picnic place with the table settings and benches. In my opinion the only plus during this stay. Sorry but this place is really disappointing and shouldnt have a four star rating. Not going to stay here again that for sure. Its not worth your money.
