"29th Floor wonderful again for 6 nights."
Last year I stayed in a Sky High Apartment and just loved it and my plan this year was to stay again and being flexible with my dates I was able to book at a good price avoiding the dates when events are on and rooms are at a premium. I stayed in 2902 with huge wrap around balcony with views forever and it is so quiet with no noise from the other apartments and you are relaxed in your own world and it really does feel like your the only person staying on the 29th floor. The location is brilliant and I became quite an expert at going to Parliament Station glancing at the board to find the platform I needed for a quick trip to Melbourne Central if I was too lazy to walk to Bourke street to grab a free tram or walk down Lonsdale Street. A special shout out "Thank-You" for the lovely tall man with a beard on reception on the morning of the 9th October when I booked in, your a star.Sorry I was so excited to be back I did not read your name...woops. I cant imagine staying anywhere but the Oaks on Lonsdale, it is just perfect. And..I dont want to get all political but I did notice all over Melbourne the "homeless" are everywhere...because they can.Just down from The Oaks right outside the IGA was a woman with a dog ( they always have a dog with sad eyes ) and she is there all day , everyday and from my observation she was doing quite nicely and when she wasn't a man was subbed in to keep her place.I have family in Melbourne and I do know all that is available to them and they choose to sit for hours outside shops and us on holidays have a measure of guilt coming out of a shop with supplies but I am afraid I managed a poker face everyday.Do the maths, if 40 people go into the IGA an hour and 20 people on leaving throw just $1 into the hat, thats not a bad hourly rate...!!!! Just saying.
"Basic but comfortable "
This was the first time I have stayed in this hotel and although the room was comfortable, it was pretty basic. The studio I had for three nights had a kitchenette there was only a single chair and bed to sit on. There wasn't a restaurant or eatery in the building for breakfast or dinner but packs were available. If you are interested in clean and affordable then this is your place. Want more...then look elsewhere.
"Comfortable, clean, convenient, great location"
Always a good place to stay, reasonable rates, comfortable clean rooms, and nice kitchenette. Location is perfect. The one big con is the exorbitant internet wi fi rates - ridiculous in this day and age when free wifi is a given at 5 star hotels- makes me angry as it is a clear scam, especially if you are staying for 4 or 5 days like I was. Big pro is the great little creole kitchen with awesome coffee in the lobby/ entrance.
Arrived to be upgraded to a 1 bdrm apartment rather than a studio which was very roomy. Nice quiet stay on the 24th floor. Great gym guests can access across the road from the hotel. Close to trains and trams. Will be back.
"Girls trip to Melbourne"
Oaks on Lonsdale was so handy to all the places we needed to be. Just parked the car and walked every where or caught the free tram. Nails done in Lonsdale st. Melbourne aquarium, dinner at the Dragon Boat, then next day South Melbourne Market. Perfect night away. Will certainly be re booking Oaks on Lonsdale.
