"Great location, just a few let downs"
Stayed in the O'Callaghan's on the green, great location for shopping, dining and sightseeing. Very friendly staff. Our room was on the top floor so we had a shared balcony which was nice. Over room was lovely, very spacious, sitting area too. Only bad points were: no fan in bathroom, 19 inch TV with about 4 channels which was disappointing, curtain too small for Window and some generator or vent going all night was terrible.I booked a room on offer which was great but if I paid full price I would have been so disappointed as it is 4 stars.
"Nice hotel but needs some work doing"
I've stayed in this hotel a few times with work now, and although the hotel itself is nice and the staff are friendly, it could do with some modernisation. Unfortunately I wasn't too well on this occasion and I needed to turn my room heating up, but it stayed on 17oC all night despite me turning it up to 24oC, this left me cold - not a nice feeling. Check out was fast and efficient and they ordered a taxi for me which is always helpful. I liked the fact that they also did me a breakfast to go bag too which they delivered to my room and had everything I wanted.
"Great location, good hotel"
First things first - the good points. The location of the hotel cannot be faulted - right in the centre of Dublin and right by historical St Stephens Green. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the bedrooms themselves were comfy, clean and really spacious, though a little dated. However, the bathrooms (while clean and functional) were very tired looking with black marks all over the bath. We also had problems with temperature of the water- it would have been great to have cold tap water, not lukewarm! The TV also was barely functional. Another issue was with the breakfast. While the food itself was good, the room it was served in was utterly freezing. Guests were wearing coats and scarves inside while they ate breakfast, which was ridiculous! Additionally, this meant the butter and other condiments were practically frozen solid. When going for breakfast outside of the summer months, I recommend getting a table as far to the back as possible and ordering some of the delicious hot food from the menu. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at the hotel. As a base for city exploring, it's perfect - but not if you're planning a luxurious hotel break.
"Would have been better staying at a cheaper budget chain chain hotel!"
Poor in room facilities and little response to feedback and requests for maintenance to be carried out during the stay regarding room faults reported- heating didn't work, room consumables (towels, toilet roll etc) wasn't adequate. Poor lighting in room (bulbs blown and not replaced). The huge double bed was two singles pushed together so you couldn't sleep in the middle of the bed due the lumps. Noisy rooms if you are over looking the road (traffic, manhole covers) On the plus side it is situated in a good location
In the centre but in a real quiet part you are on Grafton Street in 2 minutes walk. Massive rooms and good facilities. Would definitely recommend the area. Also offer bag drop if you have a late flight home.
