"Not what I expected."
For the money and location across the convention center you expect a world class business hotel. This is NOT. The room is small and really uncomfortable. It was a corner room and that may be the reason. Not much in the room. Bare. No character. No drawers for clothes. They did not give me a key to the snake bar. The breakfast is ok but expensive. They have a nice seafood place. At night as my room faces the convention center, every few hours a train goes by and wake me up. I would not stay here again. The Hilton across the street is much better. I stayed there few years back. I hope it kept its charm.
"home away from home"
Hilton lost our reservations and they literally kicked us out, Omni took us in and made us feel like family. Hospitality at it's fines. My wife and I's 40th wedding anniversary and the staff made us feel that much more welcome if that was possible. Would recomend these guys to anyone staying in any city with an Omni hotel but expressly in San Diego! Bravo!
"Great place with great view"
Very nice hotel with great views of the bay. It is within walking distance of numerous restaurants and bars downtown. There is valet parking but you can also park you car for $15/night in the parking garage that is next door to the hotel. This is a wonderful hotel!
"Great hotel and service!"
We had a great stay at this hotel. Upon check-in the hotel gave my kids little backpack of stuff including stickers, coloring book, crayons and binoculars to entertain themselves and they also sent milk and cookies for the kids randomly. They provided complimentary rollaway bed, fridge, and microwave upon our request. The room was clean. Everyone at the hotel was kind, helpful, and happy. The elevator was fast even if you are on a high floor. There is a outdoor pool and spa, but we did not use any facilities. Breakfast was really good at McCormick's - kids meal is $5 which helps! We knew valet parking was expensive upfront ($40+) so we parked in the garage across the street - it is super close, well lit, clean. It's $15 per day but when we were there, Mon - Thur 6pm-3am was only $5, then it's $1 each hour; for most of the days we ended up spending less than $15 because of this. We did have to move once due to a maintenance issue but the hotel tried to make up for the inconvenience. Because of the move we experienced rooms facing different directions, and learned that the rooms facing the parking garage are quieter despite the lack of a view. The room facing the bay has great view, but the train goes by and can be a bit noisy at night. The location is right in the heart of the gaslamp district. If you are visiting San Diego and want to stay downtown, I'd highly recommend it.
"Expectations Not Met"
1. Rooms without drawers' Really' In a hotel which gets business visitors for conferences and seminars stretching from three days to seven days, unacceptable. 2. Mattress with music' Yes, springs sing, but not a song, random rattling & squeaking. 3 Mccormick & Schmick’s is a great restaurant, but having it doesn't suffice for not having an all day dining restaurant cum coffee shop.
