This is an excellent hotel in excellent location, staff really friendly and helpful nothing is to much trouble, we went to see Charlie and the chocolate factory which is a two minute walk, I will definitely be returning to this property in the near future,
I am a frequent traveller and CEO of a listed company and the One Aldwych is my favorite hotel in London. I like the food, the service, the location, the quality ans space of the suite...quite unique in London.
"I would give it 3-4*"
It is not bad for a 3-4* hotel but I cannot entirely get over the price that they charged claiming they're a 5* hotel. I am a frequent traveller and have stayed at many 4* and 5* hotels in London that were much much better, so for the price that One Aldwych charges I expected a 5* property. Let me start with the positives: the neighborhood is great, our room had a little view which I did not expect and that was a plus, the floors in the bathroom were heated, a big plus. Now on to the negatives: the bed was pretty small, definitely not a king sized as advertised, perhaps a queen, the sheets feel like they're made out of paper and every time you twist and turn there's just so much noise. The water in the bathroom makes a great amount of noise when drained also, the shower cabin is the tiniest - you absolutely cannot take a nice long shower in that cabin! They had a bathtub, but I was dreaming of a long nice shower after a 15-hour flight, so that definitely ruined my first impression. Furthermore, our room had no Wi-Fi...the signal was coming on and off and the only way to catch a continuous signal as we've discovered was to stand in the middle of the room for the duration of use. And finally, they charged my credit card $130, I think it was a refundable deposit, which has not been refunded yet. I have never had a 5* hotel charge a deposit of any kind - they just usually keep your credit card on file in case of damages. Also, given the pound fluctuations you can easily lose some money when (and who knows when) they decide to refund you. All in all, a huge disappointment for the price.
We had stayed before at the Corinthia -- which is more expensive, farther from where we mostly wanted to be, and also much stuffier. We found One Aldwych to be much more preferable on all counts. Beautiful, well-appointed, fun, and staff with a perfect mix of professionalism and ease. Indigo restaurant was a hit, and not just because it hit the spot for our daughter with an allergy to gluten. We' would definitely make One Aldwych our first (and hopefully) only reservation when returning to London.
"Overnight Business trip"
Stayed here filling a late meeting in London. Service on arrival is always exceptional. I had an upgrade to an Executive room and which had the most amazing bed. Had a little tipple before dinner and had a stunning gin cocktail in the stylish bar. Again the service is exceptional and surroundings stylish. Will be back soon...
