"Great experience 2017"
I spent a week at this hotel in January 2017 for a convention. This is probably the fifth time I have attended the convention at this site. It has always been adequate. This year was my best experience at the hotel. The hotel is huge and the quality of the rooms varies. This year I had by far the best experience with the staff. In particular, I was impressed by Jose (I did not get his last name) in the IT department who went way out of his way to ensure that I was satisfited with access to the Web. Because of my schedule I had to have two meals in a pub there called 'High Velocity.' The service was very attentive and friendly, and the food good. I look forward to staying at the hotel in the future.
Stayed there with the family last November. We were given a pool view room on the 14th. Floor! Good size room with all the usual amenities, very clean with comfy mattress. Kids enjoyed the large Heated Pool with huge screen TV! Multiple restaurants on site as well as an adjacent (next to convention center) parking garage. Will surely stay there again since the location is only few miles to Disney Parks!
"Underestimated and happily surprised by staff and facility"
I underestimated the property before we arrived. I thought, given its size and location that we would not enjoy our stay. I was wrong. It is a large hotel and it was extremely busy while we were there but the Marriott crew handled it and it never looked nor felt out of control. The lobby, pool, restaurants were always clean and there were plenty of staff offering to help. Yes, we did have to reserve a place at the pool early, but nothing compared to some venues (pool opens at 8am). The valet was busy at the peak and I would recommend at least 15 min to get your car. Line for Starbucks every morning was long, but there is another option on the lower level. Rooms were clean and bed/pillows were comfortable. We requested refrigerator in room, as we were there for sporting event and they obliged, was in room prior to check in. Restaurants were good, many options and good food/beverage options. All in all, I am impressed and will happily return. Marriott surprised me on this one, well done!
"THis place is huge....yet well run"
I was at the Marriott to speak at a conference. The hotel is huge. My guess is several thousand rooms. Getting everywhere in the hotel takes time and is a walk. I'm happy for this, because its good exercise when attending a conference. Staff is very nice. Everything works efficiently. A couple of comments. The entrance for cars coming and going at the hotel can be revised to be less chaotic. The gym needs more machines. The internet in the room, which is a pay internet, is too slow.
"No longer a special destination."
Having stayed here for more than 10 years; I have noticed some changes that are not all good. Room service should be called is Delivery Service of fast food that was being kept warm under lights downstairs. The paper bag service results in no eggs and bacon type of breakfast, but rather, a tortilla wrapped in tin foil, served with coffee in a paper cup. Food quality in all restaurants is terrible, because basically the same menu items everywhere. Suggest that you use local service to deliver more edible food. Valet ramp wanted me to initial something indicating damage on my car, before they have even inspected car. No bellman to assist with luggage. Room in North tower; Disney view nice, even if not the king that I reserved. Housekeeping works hard; even though rooms starting to show age.
