"AAA Travel is terrible and a rip off"
I'm 43 and was planning a trip to Hawaii with my wife, two kids, my father and his girlfriend. My dad decided AAA travel would be best since we were last minute and I left it to him. AAA used a 3rd party travel company named Pleasant Holidays. Between the two of them they screwed us and even charged a $400 commission for it. Our prices out the door were approx $1750 per person for 5 nights, 6 days and 2 non-stop flights. Outrageous. Our flights were booked in a way that restricted us from being able to choose or change seats. It was extremely frustrating and we were forced to sit in the middle rows both ways. Our lame travel planners booked us a 2 bedroom condo with only 1 bathroom to share between 6 people. How dumb was that' We were also on a city side street with no view at all. The Regency on Beachwalk has NO amenities and doesn't even have room cleaning daily. They also charge a mandatory $250 room cleaning at the end of the trip. If you wan to use a pool or gym or see the beach you will need to walk down the street to the Outrigger Reef resort. The place was clean and the staff attentive but the fun ended there. We would have had the same amenities at a Motel 6. All in all, my recommendation is DO NOT use AAA travel. DO NOT use Pleasant Holidays travel. Lastly, DO NOT stay at the Regency on Beachwalk if you want amenities or to be on the beach.
"No Frills --- if that is what you are looking for."
The room was super clean when we arrived, and we were glad that we made the right choice. But there are a few things you need to know. If you shower daily, hang your towels up to dry. Because they dont have housekeeping daily. You have to either let them know to bring/pick up the towels, or call down. The end of our stay we didnt have washcloths because laundry service was behind. It was no big deal, but I want you to know what you are in for. Yes, its a low rise hotel, if you want a view, this isnt the best place to stay. Another thing is, there is no on site pool, you will be put on a list of neighboring hotels that you can get access to the Outrigger Reef's pool.... its a nice place to soak up some sun, but get there early as the sun starts to crest the spots fill up. Also, the water is warmed by the sun.... so with limited view of the pool, it is cold but you can adjust - after climbing Diamond head, it was a nice place to cool off. The staff is super nice, and helpful. Im giving it a Very Good because I am not that big into amenities. I didnt mind the short walk to the pool, and didnt mind having to ask for more towels or to have the trash picked up...the cleaning fee you will be charged is to clean for the next family/person to use. Also, there is a 30 dollar a day parking fee... i will tell you this, its the very first driveway/alleyway after the front door. It was not clear to us, but now you know. We were on the 6th floor, got a small view of the ocean between palm trees, the hilton fireworks and if you like to leave your sliding door open, the street noise starts at 3am with deliveries to surrounding hotels and ABC stores. This isnt a bad hotel, it just truly doesnt have the amenities like other locations. OH.... the wifi - worked really good, it is free, but as their highpoint, they said they dont charge for wifi, but if you have a car that is where your 30 dollars goes too.
"Enjoy my vacation!"
This is my favorite place to stay. All the amenities are great and my room is always clean. Room was large and comfortable. TV was awesome. Great location across from a shopping center with a variety of stores and restaurants. the breakfast be good.
"Never stay here, or if you do get a very high floor"
we just stayed here with my family of 4, and they put us on floor 2 room 26. floor 2 is the lowest floor for accommodation and as we were on the corner apartment we had major problems with noise from delivery trucks reversing from 4am every morning, there was not one morning that we got to sleep in. I thought that I would go outside on the balcony to read early one morning only to suffer a major asthmas attack because to workers from all the building surrounding us use the car park as a smokers haven...not nice for me who has asthma and doesn't smoke. As well as noise problems we had tiny little ants all over the whole apartment, not just in the kitchen but bedrooms as well. I did go down to ask a question once about the laundry whereabouts only to be made to feel stupid when the lady at reception spoke rudely about it being on my floor and she said it had a big sign saying where it was. So I went back up and finally found it (I don't know how)...there was no sign (it used to be there obviously but was long gone). now how am I suppose to know a laundry door from any other doors in the hallway''''. Apart from ants, the apartment was clean and tidy, it had everything you would need except an oven.
"Very satisfied with our stay at Regency on Beachwalk 86"
This is our first time staying at a vacation rental and this place is just perfect. The location is very convenient, close to the main shopping area as well as the beach. Plenty of good restaurants are nearby. The delicious Tonkatsu Ginza Bairn is just downstairs. We have a 5 month old traveling with us, and they were very kind to provide us with a complimentary crib. From the spacious balcony, we can also see the Friday night fireworks, which is a nice surprise.
