"BEAUTIFUL, PALATIAL, SPECIAL but Still a bit Flawed"
I loved this place so much. It's beyond gorgeous, in a very good location -- not too far into the medina yet enough so to be away from the craziness of the main part of the city. The restaurant is good (though it was't my favorite breakfast in Morocco), the bar is fun -- with music and a nice atmosphere at night, and the decor is so beautiful and elaborate. It's also nicely sized -- large enough to have amenities yet still has a small and intimate feel. I looked very forward to staying here -- the second of 3 different places that I stayed in in Marrakech (because I just couldn't decide!) -- and I was especially excited because after agonizing over which room to take, I'd finally decided and was sure I'd made the right decision. Here's where the flawed part comes in: I did not get the room I chose. I even went so far as to write to them a couple days before my arrival, stating the room I was supposed to have, and asking them to insure everything was ready for me (I'd been in Morocco for a while, and had various problems with rooms so I wanted to avoid all that this time). I arrived, excited to see my room, and climbed the 3-4 staircases to get there, and entered, and was so disappointed. It was NOT my chosen room, and it was not a nice room (in my estimation). I climbed down all those stairs, and stated it wasn't my room, etc. This happened several times. I'd go up the stairs to yet another room (only after insisting), and again would see another room I did not like. They thought I'd be happy to have any old "suite" -- but as a person who spent an entire year planning my trip and carefully choosing my rooms, that was not the case. In the end, they gave me a very large suite at the same price as my room would have been. Yes, I got a better deal but I still did not get the room that I wanted, and I never even got to see it! I still want to! But here's the worst part: Because of all that walking up and down the stairs that night, I ended up being injured and could not bend my knee for the rest of the trip. My room there was supposed to be on the ground floor. This changed EVERYTHING for me. My month-long trip was gravely effected by their mistake. I may actually stay there again, but would do a lot more to insure I got the room I wanted. One can't trust that ONE PERSON writing an email is going to do what they should. By the time I actually stayed there, that person was no longer working there. And in life, Sh_t happens, but this was very unfortunate indeed.
"Beautiful Riad with excellent service and central location"
We stayed at Riad Palais Sebban for 4 days and had an excellent experience. In the middle of the the Riad you can find a beautiful, large and very open courtyard with a restaurant and pool hangout area. The architecture throughout the Riad is remarkable and makes you feel like you are staying at a private palace. The roof terrace is also a very nice chill area with tables and daybeds where you can enjoy a view of the Marrakesh rooftops with the Atlas Mountains in the background. The only area of improvement would be a little more variety in the breakfast offering, however, the items they had were tasty and fresh, such as the fresh pressed orange juice. Thank you for a great stay!
"Newly renovated traditional gem "
My partner and I had such a lovely stay at Riad Palais Sebban over the Christmas period. We visited a few other riads around the area and thought this was the absolute best! We arrived at night time and were a little bit shaken once a man took our suitcase and lead us to the riad down a few side streets then forcefully requested money from us. I would recommend calling the Riad reception before arrival and have someone meet you to walk with you, or just say no to anyone who offers help and isn't wearing hotel attire! The Riad had a VERY comfortable, big bed, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food (especially the monkfish targine and chicken cous cous). The Christmas function they put on was such a lovely touch with traditional Berber music and dancers. The terrace and pool area are stunning and the location is perfect, just a 5 minute walk to Jemma el Fna square. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting Marrakech! An extra thanks to Heshim, Monun, Abdul and Mr Bean for their hospitality.
This riad is very well designed and quite charming. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The room was beautiful with a very traditional style and a great comfort. The bed was large and the bathroom was lovely. The food was also excellent. I will return to this lovely hotel very soon.
"A traditional Moroccan Riad"
All the rooms are very different, of both size and décor. A converted Judges mansion with a lovely inner courtyard with small pool and several eating areas. Bourganvilla on the walls make for a garden feeling, quite charming. All the staff are very attentive and most spoke excellent English. The food was good and this was a very satisfying and calm experience. Central to all the sites of Marrakech.
