"Miss B "
Me and my boyfriend had an incredible time at the Riad Palais Sebban. I was looking for the authentic Moroccan experience and was very keen to find a Riad that wasn't too small or a large hotel, so the size was perfect for us. The decor was truly breathtaking. There was so many places around the Riad to chill, the swings and beds right at the top were our favourite spots. The food was incredible (especially the beef) and the breakfast provided was lovely. I was very impressed that they offered fresh omelettes and other eggs at breakfast time. The spa was incredible and so were all the friendly staff. The pictures online do no justice to how stunning the Riad actually is (I thought the pictures were impressive but seeing in person was 10 times better)I love Morocco and would love to come back one day and maybe upgrade to one of the large suites.
"A beautiful find"
My friend and I arrived at the Palais Sebban by taxi after landing at the airport. As this was my first visit to Marrakech, I was slightly taken aback to be taken through tiny alleyways to reach the Riad. However, I now find this is quite normal! The door opened up to a little oasis in the middle of Marrakech. The decor is typically Moroccan and looked very authentic. After noticing a sign outside the main entrance a couple of days later, we found that the Riad had been completely rebuilt in 2006 - the owners have done a marvelous renovation job! We were greeted with hot Moroccan mint tea poured from a great height and a sweet biscuit - apparently a custom to welcome visitors to Morocco. We were shown to our room which was on the ground floor - the staff had noticed my difficulty with walking with a crutch and put us in an appropriate room, not having to use the stairs. The room was comfortable with authentic looking decor and furniture (the ceiling was beautifully painted cedar wood panels). The only downside to the room is that there was a very skimpy curtain behind which was the open toilet and shower - you will get to know your travelling companion very well after staying in this particular room! There is a delightful plunge pool in the Riad which is very cold. However, it was truly welcome after walking around the exceptionally hot main square and souks! The main square is only about a 10 minute walk from the Riad so location wise, it is perfect. My friend and I ate a couple of nights at the Riad and found the food to be very enjoyable - we chose to eat typical Moroccan food which was, of course, cooked exceptionally well! There is a super little continental buffet breakfast each morning sitting around the pool area which is also where the main restaurant is. We explored the whole of the Riad on its many levels - each having a suitable selection of seating. We chose not to sit higher up as the heat would have cooked us! The staff were really helpful and friendly and arranged a guide for us to be taken around the souks so we didn't get lost - which can happen! All in all, I would not hesitate to return to this little haven!
"Amazing Riad best staff ever!"
We had the best time recently staying at Riad Palais Sebban in Marrakech. The Riad is a lovely relaxing oasis in the bustling city of Marrakech. Located in the old town close to Djeema El Fna and the Koutoubia Mosque. The food in the hotel was good quality and even the Moroccan wine was nice (we drank a lot of it...) and also a fair price. Breakfast was included and was good with coffee and a buffet including cereal, fruit, pastries etc The Riad itself was amazing, with so many areas to explore, different terraces, and a great bar. We loved to watch the sun go down on the top terrace and relax with a book during the day when not exploring the city. It was such a relaxing place and so nice to visit in November with the weather still warm. One tip would be definitely to arrange transfers to the Riad via taxi before you arrive as it is so difficult to locate the first time. The area felt safe and was near many restaurants and in walking distance to most sights. The only slight gripe we had is that the Riad could be quite noisy, particularly in the mornings with cleaning staff and other guests being noisy, however I think this may be true of all Riads with the noise echoing around etc. We were in the 'Koutoubia' room and it was very nice, we will try to book a terrace room if we return. One of the best things about our stay in the Riad was the way we were looked after by the staff in the hotel, in particular by Hicham, Monaim and 'Mr Bean' who were the nicest staff we have ever encountered in a hotel, they looked after us from the moment we arrived and we will remember them! Hicham especially was so amazing and had lots of recommendations for us and was so dedicated to us having a good time, we will really miss him!! We hope to one day return to Marrakech, and if we do we will definitely stay in Palais Sebban!! David and Liz xx
Out of this world amazing! It is well located in Medina, it looks and feels amazing! They have rooftop beds which is such a fantastic experience, swimming pool available, good spa and professional staff. If you want to treat yourself, this is definitely the place to stay while visiting Morocco.
This Riad has some beautiful features and is in a great location. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially when my daughter wanted to change rooms due to noisy people in the neighbouring rooms- arguing and slamming doors! My room was located in a quieter area - or so I thought. The housekeepers room and cupboard were located opposite and so when they started their morning chores they were not mindful of anyone staying in the rooms close by. My room was a deluxe room - bathroom lighting was dingy and the room smelt musty. We also had quite an unpleasant drain smell coming through the toilets. Breakfast is located in a beautiful courtyard - but again the little details like chipped cups left us feeling that this Riad needs a bit of tlc. Restaurant food was delicious but if you're in a hurry the service is very slow. We had wine on the rooftop terrace to watch the sun go down and listen to the call to prayer - next day we went up again and our glasses and wine bottle was still there from the day before. I thought it was expensive for the quality provided compared to other Riads I have stayed in.
