"Lovely Riad right in the heart of Marrakech "
My wife and I recently stayed here for a couple of nights. It is an absolutely beautiful Riad, with nice staff and decent size bedrooms. Before we arrived we got them to organise a taxi, which is 150 Dirham (€15), but a must on the first visit, as you would never find it without someone to take you there. Most of the Riads are the same. The location is brilliant, just a couple of minutes walk to the main square. We generally ate out, but they do some nice food and had entertainment (nice local music) . Also you can have a drink their, when most restaurants in Marrakech do not serve alcohol.
"Outrageously Horrible Experience"
I will start this review by saying that Palais Sebban remedied a horrible situation of their own creation, which my family and I appreciated in the end. However I feel the need to share our experience to ensure that this doesn't happen to anyone else. I feel honored to be a member of Trip Advisor, part of a group of people who obviously care a lot about their hotel, dining and travel experiences. So when we began meticulously planning our first-ever trip to Morocco, Palais Sebban came highly recommended among 100s of possible riads in Marrakech. Several months ago I booked and received confirmation for two rooms through Booking.com. In the months leading up to our trip, I contacted the hotel directly to organize a transfer from the airport and reserved a table for our children for dinner the night we arrived. Throughout the entire process, I received direct, personal confirmation for everything and I reconfirmed our transfer and dinner reservation **the day before our arrival**. Even at one point a few weeks prior, I was in direct communication with the hotel regarding possible spa appointments. In all instances I received direct confirmation from the hotel confirming all transfers, dinner reservations and rooms. Everything was in order...or so I thought. Unfortunately, when we exited the airport, there was no one waiting for us. My husband, kids and I each took turns walking around and around through the swarm of other drivers waiting to pick up their guests but no one from Palais Sebban was there to meet us. After waiting 30 minutes and placing four calls to Palais Sebban, who continued to tell me that the non-existent driver was there, a driver finally ran up to us from the parking lot and said he was never given our arrival information. Needless to say, this is not how we expected our arrival in Marrakech would be. Once we finally arrived at the hotel, we were greeted with mint tea, and looked forward to settling into our rooms. As we were waiting however, someone came over to share the really bad news...they regretted to inform us that the entire hotel was sold out for a wedding and despite the confirmation I'd received, our two rooms weren't available because we weren't part of the wedding. They told us they would be moving us to a completely random riad a few alleys down. And the manager blamed the mix up on a member of her staff who had been communicating with me the whole time rather than accepting responsibility herself. My anger at this situation was two-fold...not only was our arrival and first evening spent wasting time and energy due to Palais Sebban's incompetence, had someone from the hotel just contacted me either independent of or during my ongoing contact with them to say they couldn't accommodate us I would have gladly booked another riad and avoided this whole situation! There are hundreds of other riads who I'm sure would gladly have welcomed us and unfortunately the riad we ended up staying in was not a place I would have ever intentionally booked for our family. As I mentioned, ultimately we do appreciate Palais Sebban rectifying the situation to our satisfaction. And from the reviews on this site, it seems that this isn't a regular occurrence so we must have just had bad luck. In any case, we hope that no one else encounters this situation!
"Oasis in city centre "
Wow, could not be any more authentically beautiful- what an oasis right in the middle of the medina! My husband and I stayed here 3 nights and enjoyed it tremendously. Rooms are spacious and breezy, the poolside is gorgeous, and meals for breakfast and dinner are delicious. The hotel staff are very accommodating and helpful- they arranged our airport transfers as well. Thank you!
"The Best in Marrakech"
You know that feeling when you know you checked into the best hotel in the area' Well I had that feeling from the moment I was greeted at Palais Sebban. Located in the heart of the medina, it was quite easy to find from Gate Lak Sour. Once in the hotel you find a calm and elegant riad, which is a welcome respite from the busy lanes of the medina. My room, the Atlas, was a spectacular surprise! It was decorated well, with a nice bathroom area and comfortable bed. It also featured a nice private terrace with fountain--of which I made good use. The restaurant is well-priced and serves up a delicious menu of Moroccan and French cuisine. Courses are served at a relaxed pace, but it gives you time to admire the amazing craftsmanship and detail in the architecture around the pool. I suggest the Pastilla--it's exceptionally good! I also appreciated the 24-hour security at the gate of the riad. It keeps the lane quiet and the hustlers to a minimum... something I didn't realize the value of until I stayed at another riad in Fes. Overall if you're questioning whether you should stay here, do not fret! It's the best place in the medina. Elegant, reasonably priced and quiet. The perfect place to start a Moroccan adventure--or just get some relaxation.
"Beautiful and with fabulous service!"
We have just returned from Palais Sebban this morning and it was a great experience! A calming oasis and a welcome escape from the busy souks, this riad was beautiful with true authentic Moroccan charm. We stayed in the Berbere suite which had its own private terrace which was amazing however there are also a number of public terraces with seating, loungers and days beds to relax on, all with incredible views over the rooftops and sunset. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the food and service superb - the staff even provided us with breakfast at 6am this morning before we left for our flight. I would recommend Palais Sebban to anyone!!
