"Nice staff, too many buts however..."
So, we stayed here for four nights doing a history and food trip to the Eternal City. There is alot to say so lets just divide it up to sections shall we' STAFF The staffmembers we encountered where all very polite and kind, especially Cristina deserves to be mentioned. Checkin was smooth as well as check-out and all staffmembers we encountered spoke english well enough. One thing that we didnt like thou was that some of the staff seemed to be on the take from the restaurants next to the hotel. When asked what the best restaurants in the area were at two of the staff referred to the restaurant in the same building asking us to say that X sent us. This despite numerous restaurants close-by carrying a Michelin plate grade (one just 20 meters away). And yes, the restaurants in the building where exactly the tourist traps one could expect (we tried twice cause we were to tired to go elsewhere at those occations). ROOM We had a Rotunda room (304) with a window towards the square. The room itself was quite small, the majority of it filled up with the bed/jacuzzi. There where two small wall-attached bedside tables, a chair and a petite corner table in the alcove where the window was located and a closet with the minibar fridge inside it. The combo of a large fridge and limited wardrobe space made us just use the hangers for jackets and leave the rest in our suitcases. The bathroom had a toilet and a bidet, sink and the tiniest walk in shower which gave me a claustrophobic feeling. The bathroom amenities where quite odd, the conditioner more of a pasta than liquid and hard to get out of the bottle. Also it varied, one day we had two conditioners and no soap, the next day we had a soap and a shampoo etc. Overall the room was quite worn, which showed especially in the shower drain, the corners of the room etc. A thick slab of white paint on one of the panels didnt help. The room also had a wallmounted TV. However, after zapping through the channels (almost 100!) without finding one single non-italian language one, we gave up on the tv. It should also be noted that you could hear the jacuzzis in the other rooms very well... If one of your neighbours decided to turn it on at 3am you would wake up there and then. Also, having a room towards the square was nice when we looked out during the evenings. However, every morning the garbagetrucks woke us up when emptying all the glassfilled garbagebins around the square. This was definitly not pleasent. Now, to the meat of the room and in fact the whole hotel concept, the jacuzzi. The idea itself was acually quite cool. Place a bed atop of a jacuzzi and hoist it up in the ceiling when you want a bath. However, we were left with less positive feelings. Our intention was to walk around Rome during the days and then get a nice bath in the early evening before going out for dinner. The thing is, to acually get the jacuzzi started the water had to reach a certain level to reach the sensors. Our combined body mass is about 175kg (yes, I admit to a majority of those). It took 50 minutes to fill it up enough for the water to reach the sensors with us in it (we timed it). We had a mix of cold and warm water for the first 20 minutes and then warm water only for the other 30 minutes because, to be frank, the hot water wasn't that warm. Now, to wait for almost an hour in a room with one chair for the jacuzzi to fill up is pretty sad. Because of this we didnt use it for a second time until the last night of our stay. We turned it on and went out for icecream. Coming back we sank down and started it up. I was inside three minutes before what I thought was a big bubble hit me. Its just that it wasnt a bubble. It was a massive ball of hair. That was truly disgusting! It must have gotten stuck inside the system and then been pumped out after enough use. Needless to say we leaped up and cleansed ourself in the claustrophobic shower. Truly disgusting. And no, it wasnt our hair. The picture doesnt make it right but the ball was about 5cm/2inches wide. It was big. (And yes, I saw the cleaning ladies clean the jacuzzis every day so it cam from inside the pipes). CLEANING The cleaning was very up and down. When we arrived the room was cleaned but it was a sloppy clean. This showed especially in the bathroom which had lots of dried waterstains. Every day the cleaning lady left a note with her name so we knew who had cleaned the room. The first two days it was cleaned but not very well. Two glasses with old wine was left by the same lady for two days and the bathroom sink was stained as mentioned previously. On the third day however the room was spotless. No stains, glass taken care of and replaced (and this wasnt even standard glasses but wine glasses we asked for at the reception - apparently the mini bar wine was really supposed to be consumed from plastic glasses in the bathroom...). This was also the case on the forth day so it seems like cleaning is very dependant on whom does it, with no supervision from management on how its done. BREAKFAST Here I was supposed to rave about the marvellous breakfast. Small problem thou, there wasnt any. There wasnt even a restaurant at the hotel. Now I know that there were a ton of restaurants just around the square alone, but this is the first time I can recall that a somewhat expensive hotel dont provide me with breakfast (or even mention that they dont do so). We where referred to the restaurants close-by and I'm sorry but theyre tourist traps. Instead we had breakfast on the go in the mornings at local caffees we past on our way to wherever we where going any specific day. SHUTTLE SERVICE As a final adieu we tested the hotel provided shuttle. At first we were going to take a taxi to the airport. However there was a taxi strike and hence no taxis. The receptionist then suggested that we could take the hotel shuttle. It was a fixed rate at 55 euros, only 7 euros more than the regular taxi which was just fine. The ride itself was alright, the driver knew all the short-cuts getting us there in no-time (which is ca 40 minutes). However, when we where gonna pay he showed us his handwritten invoice for 60 euros. The price itself wasnt a problem for us, we had a 5 euros tip planned anyways, but the fact that he gave us another price than the hotel was quite annoying and left a bad last impression (and no tip obviously). IN CONCLUSION I really wish I could recommend this hotel. The staff is friendly and the location and concept (not yo mention the homepage!) is excellent. However, when looking at all the things listed above and add to that a not to cheap room rate, I can't honestly say that I don't think there are better or alot better deals to be had in the same area. Sadly I would therefore recommend you to spend your money elsewhere. PS. The hotel really need to replace the logo carpet by the entrance. Its a stumble accident waiting to happen, especially if you wear high heels. DS.
"Best location and a great price!"
This is honestly in a great location. It is centrally located to everything you want to see in Rome from obviously the Pantheon, Coliseum, Vatican, and Spanish Steps. The standard room in this hotel is quite small for 2 people. Though you might think, it's just a hotel room and your going to spend all your time outside of it, but going to Rome is all about walking and see sights. Your going to want to rest every now and again. Just upgrade to a larger room if you can. FYI, the hotel is located near restaurants that are little more expensive than others outside of it. If you want a quick breakfast do it, and have lunch at other places.
"Pantheon Royal Suite 3 Nights"
Amazing location, Clean room, Great price, service and location. Room was a little small but comfortable. Wifi a little slow and room could be a little stuffy. Built in fan not operable when I went but staff dropped off a floor fan which helped. Well worth the price. Thank you PRS!
"Heart of Rome"
Fantastic location for easy access to all main attractions. Very nice compact hotel, had everything you needed & comfortable stay. Upgrade was reasonable for a front room to view the pantheon. Staff were brilliant, very helpful & left surprise drinks for partners birthday 👍in our room, gave good information on best restaurants & wrote everything on our map. Loads of restaurants around the hotel which were fantastic on quality & price. Would definitely come back here again.
"Thank you very much! Bravissimi!!!!!! "
I truly loved this hotel! We have stayed for 3 nights and each and every time I thought-"Damn, the choice is perfect" The location is superb, it's been my third time in Rome and I believe Pantheon area is where you need to be. Service: perfection! the team is amazing , all the the employees I have met are so professional in every and each detail. Quite often service happens to be quite disappointing in popular European destinations , not this case! For a relevantly small sum of money , we have upgraded ourselves to the room with a Pantheon view and it was amazing! You can admire it morning/night/evening! Not noisy. I was astonished by a hairdryer and a hair straighter they provided...you don't need to carry your things, girls, those things are professional , not a typical 5 cm hairdryer which just destroys your hair..here is the real stuff! Nespresso machine, comfy bed, pillows selection,,bathrobes, perfect lighting for a mirror in the bathroom, a full size mirror, amazing body washes, safe box in lobby( once you have checked out but have some time and don't want to carry cash in Rome...what else' PERFECTION!!!!!!!!BRAVO!!!!!!Yes, breakfast is not provided...but food is not a problem in Rome, you know)
