This resort was spectacular! Very very beautiful. The lobby is amazing, wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and had a luxurious feel about it. The same can be said of our private villa. High ceilings, earthy natural decor, huge bed, spa, full outside deck, flat screen TV and a huge beautiful bathroom. The staff were always helpful, food was delicious ( we had breakfast and dinner a few times ) roaming peacocks!, beautiful well kept grounds with plants and trees of all sorts. Pool was sensational, quite a few pools to choose from, again with wonderful views. We were given snacks throughout the day which were lovely surprises, delivered to our room and free of charge. Free shuttle service into Chaing Mai town daily! I could go on forever. I just loved this place. I would absolutely go back! The only negative I have was that while we were there, there were a lot of deliberate bush fires that I believe are done by farmers and the smoke filled the it the whole time we were there which blocked views and made it hard to breath and get fresh air. This of course was no fault of the hotel, just a shame we couldn't see more of the mountain views because of the smoke.
"PERFECT IN EVERY WAY"
We LOVED it here! This might very well be the perfect hotel. Everything is beautiful: the views, the rooms, the pools. There is so much to do on site you'll never want to leave: golf, boxing, archery! But if you do want to leave there is an awesome complimentary shuttle. The staff were all SO lovely! and friendly. The food was incredible too.. I can't rave enough about this place, it was a true highlight of our 3 months SE Asia trip. You must stay here!!
"Got the upgraded!!!"
We stayed there for 1 night normally we booked the standard room but upon we arrived we have been upgrade to the villa with the jacuzzi as i thought that building was under construction. Anyway I entered the room it was huge and have terrace that facing to the mountain which was really nice. The hotel is huge and have many activities to do.
"Nicely located, but terribly maintained, unprofessional staffs, tired facilities."
The hotel itself was splendid. We were stunned by the view hotels offered, both from the lobby and the swimming pool. However, the service and the facilities in the hotel were big disappointments and needs huge improvements. We arrived the hotel a bit before 14h which is the standard check-in time, but were informed that the rooms were not ready despite the fact that we called them an hour before to confirm our check-in around 14h. We were waiting the opening lobby space without air-conditioning in the heat for half an hour until one of the staffs offered us some drinks as an apology for waiting but only non-alcoholic drinks could be ordered. He did not even offer us to wait in the restaurant area where it was air-conditioned. He then informed us that the maids were cleaning the rooms and would take about another half an hour to finish. Finally, we got one of the two rooms we booked around 15h and another one a bit later. Unfortunately, the air-conditioning in the room we booked for 3 people broke down. One of the technicians came in to check and informed us that we should switch the room. One of the front desk staffs offered us another room, which according to him was an upgrade. It is true that the new room was more spacious, but the balcony did not give the valley view as we expected upon booking and on the top of that, the room was right next to the hotel construction site! After few hours wasted with the room issues, we headed finally to the swimming pool. Again, no fresh towels available and staffs were absent. Used towels were thrown on the pool chairs. Food trays were left on the table everywhere, some of them were even on the floor! We were just surprised how the hotel in this categories can go down that far with the details like this. Finally, later that night around 23h, unfortunately the air-conditioning in our new room broke down again. One of the technicians came to inform us that he did want he could to repair the system and it should be ok. Actually it was a bit cooler since he fixed it, but the room was still warm and unpleasant to sleep. The next morning, we were also disturbed with the noise from cleaning ladies who were waiting to make up the room and somehow decided to stay right in front of the guest’s door to chat noisily. With all these issues, I have to say that this hotel was a huge disappointment for us during this trip to Chiang Mail. I find the hotel staffs unprofessional and could not deal with the problems efficiently. The check-out time was fixed at noon, and how come the rooms were started to be cleaned only at 14h30' Most of all, we called an hour earlier to confirm our arrival at 14h. The room “upgrade” was also a big disappointment and did not make us feel better after these problems, but worse. The pool area was dirty and no staff presence. Rooms were old and tired. They absolutely need a refreshment, especially the air-conditioning system. As I said earlier, the hotel itself was stunning but with overall service, it does not deserve the price. This hotel is absolutely not and elite hotel and does not deserve more than 3 stars in my opinion. I will not recommend this hotel and consider to rebook for the next trip to Chiang Mai.
"Amazing property, incredible staff."
I just came from staying two nights at the Panviman and I already want to go back! The property is located in the mountain above Chiang Mai and it's seriously gorgeous. The property is huge and spread out but they provide golf carts to take you wherever you want to. My room was bigger than my house and even had a private hot tub on the balcony. There were curtains on the balcony so you could make it private. I relaxed in the hot tub both nights. Maybe my favorite part of the hotel was the pool- it was huge and so relaxing. There's wifi all over the property, even at the pool. If you visit the Panviman do yourself a favor and book a spa treatment- I had a 90 minute massage and it was one of the best of my life. The spa area is gorgeous and the staff were all friendly and professional. I hope to stay at the Panviman next time I'm back in Chiang Mai!
