"Peace and quiet"
Beautiful resort in the mountains, crisp and clear air, deep blue sky and amazing views. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant were always excellent. Pool too cold to swim in and you need an extra jacket and long trousers at dinner as temperatures drop considerably at night. Lovely staff. Amazing grounds with lots of facilities. Very clean.
"1 hour from city center "
The hotel is undoubtedly beautiful - the grounds and views are amazing. It's a great place to relax and get away, but not recommended for travelers wanting to spend time in Chiang Mai - it's over an hour away from the center and costs about $30usd each way to get to the center and back. The shuttle the hotel provides is unreliable and only goes to the city twice a day.
"A peaceful recharge"
23 dec 14 Certainly feels like Christmas is round the corner. It's 14 degrees at 845am. There is but a glimpse of sun in the "living room". It's all quiet except for a distant dog barking, random birds chirping and the running water taps from above. We are in room 2101. Each night cost USD300 (booked a month earlier) including a buffet breakfast complete with a view from 800m elevation. At the first breakfast, the swallows were diving and darting about in brownian motion, unapologetically and dangerously avoiding a mid-air collision. They didn't show up at breakfast on subsequent colder mornings. The room has a tiled patio - we didn't venture out there as it was mostly in the shadows. Instead we preferred the beautifully coiffured and sprawling hotel grounds where the sun shone generously on. It has a bathtub. In the summer one can slide open the bathroom partitions to bathe in the middle of the room. We preferred the shower. For two nights, the bathtub's drip presented a natural metronome steadily paced at about 64 crochets a minute. But the room was rhythmless last night. The drip had been fixed. The hotel restaurant is worth mentioning. We found the Kao soi (noodles in curry) extremely delicious, and far better than the famous one at Wat Faham in Chiangmai. The sautéed local vegetables was also a favourite. At breakfast, the paad thai and egg noodles were yummy! The ride to Chiangmai town takes an hour. Two trips are provided daily at 11am and 4pm with a corresponding pick up. We were dropped off at Thapae gate where the Sunday walking street commenced. Dinner was in full swing: Thai favourites at 40B per serving. Later today we will visit the Queen Sirikit Botanic Gardens before heading home. It's a short ride down the highlands, and based on existing reviews, well worth a jaunt! In summary, although our March 14 Taiwanese experience on QingJing highlands was crispier and fresher, our 3 night stay at Panviman Mae Rim offered a peaceful recharge.
"Great place to relax"
Me and my girlfriend were spending 2 night stay at panviman just to get away from the crowded of Bangkok which is really great experience and exceed our expectation for the getaway trip. We purchased the packages for two includes airport transfer, one hour couple massage, one time dine in, which is worth it. Breakfast was great, a lot of option and really nice view either from lobby, restaurant and around the hotel. I recommend this hotel for your holiday trip. We have our friend drive us around during the day but you also can arrange your tour from the front desk which is also really convenient. We would definitely stay in this hotel again. Thanks for the great hospitality that makes our stay and holiday memorable.
"Nice scenery but room and services are so so"
the hotel is located in a very nice setting. on top of the small hill. However, the room itself is quite old. Upon entering a room, shampoos and amenities are unfilled. Bed is not what you would expect from a 4-5 star hotels. It was not comfortable. Blanket was somewhat cheap as well as pillows. We requested a baby crib for our kids, the guard rail came broken. The staff seemed not to care that it is a big deal!! since my baby would fall off from the crib. Staffs are polite but not well trained. Hotels are not that bad but there are many nicer hotels elsewhere in the same price range.
