"Wonderful and memorable holiday"
Absolutely love this resort, fully immersed in the natural scenery surrounded by friendly and helpful hotel staffs. On the arrival day, we left our backpack in the airport, while we were panicking, hotel staffs managed professionally and offered great help. Special thanks to Mr Charles and Mike! :) Although the resort is located 45 minutes from old town, the shuttle bus services are sufficient for our tour's traffic. It doesn't seem that long after all as you got a chance to interact with the other tourists and appreciate the beautiful scenery along the way. Spa and massage in the resort are also highly recommended. We did the stress-relax massage and felt the same way as the massage name~ We love this resort, it just adds on a lot to our trip in Chiang Mai and we highly recommend Panviman to you!
This was a little bit of a splurge for us, but it was truly worth it. The bathtub was exceptional with hot water, and also the patio in our room had a beautiful view. The food at the resturant for dinner and the complimentary breakfast were some of the best meals that we had on our trip! Wonderful experience!
The Resort lived up to its name and reputation. Mr. Charles the manager was intent on making sure everything was just right. Upon leaving he gave us a going away gift as a token of gratitude. Mr. Chai the restaurant manager gladly gave me copies of my favorite food dishes (try the coconut soup). The restaurant had spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the local musical group consisting of a father and his three boys gave it a fun vibe! The Spa treatments were very relaxing and peaceful. Well worth it! Normally I don't take pictures of bathrooms, but even the men's bathroom in the hotel lobby had a great view!
"Gorgeous Hotel on a Hillside. A True Winner."
I don't think I've ever been to a hotel surrounded by so much beauty. The Panviman is lying in the hills of Mae Rim an hour from Chiang Mai airport. It has ponds, small waterfalls, colorful birds, gorgeous butterflies, caves, and many secret places you can walk and sit. And the restaurant has beautiful views and a Green curry to die for. The hotel never seems crowded because the bungalows and buildings are so spread out. However, I wasn't particular impressed with our dark room since I'd requested one with a view and lots of natural light, but since I'd booked the cheapest, I probably shouldn't complain since everything else was so perfect. We were lucky enough to have dinner with the charming general manager, Mr. Charles and also enjoyed the fact that there weren't many American or European tourists around. The Panviman caters mostly to Thai and Chinese tourists which we liked, since we don't travel to meet people who think and look like us. The morning buffet was great, too, and we would love to return some day. The Panviman is one of the ten best hotels I ever stayed at.
"Nice but not for the elderly"
I stayed at Panviman with my parents who are both above 70. We were quite surprised when we first arrived to find that cars were not allowed into the hotel. You had to park outside and wait for a golf buggy to come pick you up - or walk a steep 8% incline lugging all your bags for about 200 metres to get to the reception. Following that, the rooms were another golf buggy trip (similar 8% inclines), only longer! But it was not all yet. From the golf buggy, we were given rooms on the second storey, and had to climb another series of staircases. The rooms were beautiful and clean, but my parents were pleading for a change. This is definitely not for your own folks or anyone who is not in normal fit condition. Overall the hotel is nice, a little old but well maintained. In terms of value for money, I would say it is too expensive for what you actually get.
