"A hotel for pure relaxation."
Have just spent one week at the Panviman Resort and it was great. Upon arrival we were checked in promptly and taken to our room, I had booked a Deluxe Mountain View on an upper floor, the views were fantastic across the valleys. The only drawback was that the whole hotel is set on very steep terrain and the walk back from the restaurant (uphill) can prove to be a bit tiresome although saying this the hotel is always happy to drive you around the complex and to your room in a small tuk tuk without any problems. I was happy with the room but after three days the wi fi ceased working due to a fault beyond the hotels control, when I enquired about the progress of repairs I was offered a change of room, what a bonus !! I was moved to a larger room complete with a outside jacuzzi ( this room was listed at approx £45 more a day at the time of booking and we were given this without any extra charge for the remainder of the week and this room had good wi fi). This gives you an idea how this hotel really does strive to please, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. All the staff are a credit to the hotel and are so friendly and helpful. The lobby staff deserve a special mention for their endeavours to ensure you have a happy stay. The restaurant is pleasant and has wonderful views, the food is good but as other people have noted the menu is slightly limited in choice, but for 1 week it was fine with a choice of Thai and Western dishes. I found the restaurant staff very good in overall service. The breakfast is to a pretty good standard with Asian and Western choices and coffee is served by the staff, food choice is obviously buffet style. The hotel grounds are something else and you can stroll down small secluded pathways with some fantastic trees and plants to enjoy. You almost feel that you are in a world of your own. The grounds are well maintained which is quite an achievement taking into account the sheer size. There is a small range of amenities set in one area including table tennis, darts, pool table and a mini golf putting and driving range. There is an organic garden which is also very pleasant to visit. We had one massage session which was total relaxation and lovely but I did feel that the prices are very high for this particular service. It never seemed to be very busy and I feel if the prices were lower then they would have a lot higher customer turnover. The pool was spectacular complete with waterfalls and a spa pool, really recommended and very quiet too with ample sun beds available. This hotel is set in a very remote hillside location and any journey out, even to the local 7/11 shop requires a taxi although the hotel provides a free daily shuttle bus to Chiang Mai city which leaves twice daily in morning and late afternoon and will also bring you back at set pick up times which works well. Chaing Mai city has plenty of shopping markets and restaurants to visit and is a pleasant day out if you fancy a change from the hotel location. There are also a couple of elephant parks, snake farm , tiger sanctuary and other various attractions to visit, all within about 1 hours drive from the hotel. So to sum up,, if you wish for a peaceful, relaxing stay in superb surroundings with great staff this hotel is certainly worth a visit. It may not be to everyone's taste but I found it fantastic with no issues at all to mention. I have stayed in numerous hotels all over Thailand and would thoroughly recommend the Panviman without hesitation. A Big Thank you to all at the Panviman for a wonderful weeks stay,,, and yes, I will be returning in the future!! Richard.
"Great concept poor execution"
The design of this hotel is fantastic, the way it cascades down the hill is great architecture and a lovely walk. The position of the rooms, restaurant and swimming pool are spectacular. The problem is the management have just got it wrong. There is not enough staff in the restaurant and you end up waiting or shouting to get someone's attention. The menu is very limited and gets boring very quickly, for a luxury hotel ((apparently) they have about 10 bottles in their wine selection. There is no bar. You are miles from anything, which is a plus because it becomes like a retreat but also a negative because you are reliant on their service and selection, which isn't great. Also, the place needs more regular maintenance than its getting, broken tiles in both the freezing cold jacuzzi and the kids pool need sorting. Smashed floor tiles around the restaurant, doors and windows that don't close properly in the room. The decor in the rooms is also slipping, stains on the curtains and bed linen were not pleasant. The first night we arrived we were taken to our room at 11.30pm and the room was filled with insects, all the lights had been left on and due to the gaps in the old wooden windows loads of insects had got in. Just a watch out! A beautiful place that needs to think about its customers more!
"Lovely place with amazing breath-taking views"
This place is beautiful and me and my friend felt so relaxed staying here. Walking around and taking in the beautiful stunning hillside views, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The place was well kept and clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The spa session we booked was also fantastic. Felt so relaxed after the session. However, the only downside of staying here is that you cannot escape the sounds of cicadas early in the morning and during the evenings. And the wifi in the room is also not working at all. Had to go to the lobby for internet access even though there was supposed to be wifi access in the room. Special thanks to Eugene at the front desk who was very polite and helped us to arrange transportation to the places we wanted to visit. Our driver for two days is Mr Dew and he can be contacted at 083-766-6718. He spoke reasonably good English and took us to very interesting places to visit and to eat. Pricing was also reasonable. I will definitely be back in the future.
"Amazing Relaxing Beautiful hotel"
We checked out of our hotel in Khoa Lak earlier to go to Chiang Mai longer. We could not get availability at the hotel we booked, but thank God for that. We got to stay here for 2 nights first. In the mountains with stunning views. The Staff are friendly and the rooms beautiful. It is peaceful and bliss at its best. After checking out to go to our hotel we booked in advance, we got there only to see it is actually a Dump. After 10 minutes we called the Panviman again and asked if they could please accommodate us for another 3 nights and pick us up from the "Dump", They were very happy and humble to have us back and trust me so were we. The Restaurant on site was stunning and i had a tall order which they did with a smile and more delicious than i had before anywhere in the world. The chef specially prepared a Bolognaise Pizza for me with Garlic and Chilli just like i like it and better. thank you very much. We will indeed stay here again one our 3rd visit to Chiang Mai. Stunnign resort and Spa. The Spa is a must to do as well. Serene environment and the best therapists. thank you again for making our stay so special. คุณ ขอบคุณ
"Peaceful and Great Resort"
Felt so peaceful once you stepped into this resort. They have few real peacocks at the entrance as the attractions for visitors. Very nice restaurant with good and fine food facing the greens....not forgetting the wine room that you can choose a bottle or more that you might want to enjoy it with the great environment. Keep it up....will visit again soon.
