"Friendly, efficient, some Minor issues."
Firstly most reviews I've read are accurate. Reception, Bee, Nat, Tanya and all other staff were great. Food at breakfast was good. Buffet or a small fresh alacarte menu, included. We did not eat at night as the dining room lacked any kind of atmosphere...we went next door for great fresh food on the beach and really cheap. Honestly the food next door was very very good. Our room was a hillside room, next to the road and some traffic noise, but I think for the Chapstick rooms in the hotel they were the best with great sea views. Rooms are standard, 3/4 star , clean but very dated, towels were well past there best and the shower was not very clean...but acceptable. I travel a lot and it was perfectly fine. This is not a 5 star luxury hotel, but it is a reasonable resort hotel. I guess it's what you pay. We paid on the internet less than £50 per night. Good value at that, but rooms were selling for in excess of £100, if I had paid that I would have been very unhappy compared to similar hotels. I liked the hotel, I liked the Manager who was really friendly and helpful to us. Now, there is a major issue at this hotel, it is a beach hotel, and no one is carding for the beach, the beds are broken, literally impossible to get. This leads to people booking beds from 6am, setting guest against each other in some bizarre competition. This leads to a general unfriendly guest atmospher. There is broken glass , cigarettes, dirt on the beach, the beach bar is derrilict, it is horrible... The beach is fantastic and the hotel should be making the most of it..Seriously, every review talks about the beach beds..The hotel needs to sort this out. Get a Grip. In summary we really got a great rate and value for money. We liked the place but only for £40 a night ,B B, no more. We thought all the staff were friendly, but this is Thailand famous for hospitality. Hope this helps
Privacy, peaceful and beautiful place. For the person whom need privacy, this is a good place... The room is very nice, clean and big, it's lager than you see in the pictures. I got a very good service from the staffs. This place is so impressive.
"Lovely hotel not being cared for"
Phuket The hotel has an open reception area and always staff in reception, you are greeted with a cold drink and cold flannel. The staff are fine but their English is not very good and one guy Tuk Tuk needs to listen to what the customers are saying before he mumbles away with no real response as to what you have ask him. When we arrived we were ask for our credit card, Tuk on reception ask for our credit cards for us and our friends, he then called us over to put our PIN number in, when we ask why he said to pay for the room, which we had paid for in full through Hotels.con, when I told him he said he need to check, I then took out my confirmation to prove it. He still said they needed a photo copy for if we run up a bill. The day we left I ask for this back they didn't offer it, and were a bit put off that I ask, they had in fact a copy of both sides! I then ask for our friend one to test them to see if he would say no that they would need to request it, which he didn't he gave me theirs too. The taxi firm that runs from the hotel is not cheap and the guy that stands on the front desk is very rude, one of his drivers dropped us off and agreed to bring us back, however didn't turn up, we got a lovely lady from the restaurant to call him and he said he had a better job and couldn't collect us, in the end the ladies Dad bought us back to the hotel. We ate in cape panwa most nights the place was very busy the food was very good and the young girl called Mild speaks very good English and is very helpful, her Dad drives a taxi and she will call him to take you back to the resort and in the end he picked us up and took us and then took us back home again everyday for 400 BAHT round trip, local cabs want 500-600, the restaurant was called Sawasdee 1 there is a Sawadee 2 they play music and it's a little bigger. Would recommend the sizzling prawns amazing! In fact we never had one meal we never liked. It will cost around 500-1000 BAHT for two depending on if you have more than a couple of drinks as these are the price of at home. The best Tailors is Barry's of London, you can get a suit made for £125 two piece or £150 for a three piece, my husband returns to him every 2-3 years and has shirts and suits made and they are made so well, he has had many comments back home about his suits and where he gets them. Barry's is up near the Panwa Cape 5* hotel. The rooms are very tied and in need of a deep clean, they are dark and the lighting is poor, the beds are hard as a board and even when you sit on them you hear all the wood creaking. The bed and pillows have no protection covers on them and I returned my back to reception and ask for new pillows as they were gross under the pillow cases. The toilet seat was all yellow and the shower was black and mouldy round the seals, and the towels have seen better days, I will add after we complained by email to the head office we were upgraded to a suite with an amazing view room 204. Another good room is 104 this room our friends had it has a lovely view over the bay and is bigger than the standard rooms with a double bed. The best rooms are 104 and 204, 204 is a suite with three separate areas and a view over the bay amazing, we had booked and confirmed two doubles but our friends were given a room with two singles, hence after I showed them a copy of the email they got room 104, and after they couldn't fix our broken bed we were upgraded to 204. Now the safety deposit box in the room, there is a story, so how safe is it I ask ' If you can lift it out put a rode through the hole in the back and push to the front button and Waller the door will open for you, found this out when ours came up with error. The restaurant the staff other than one lady that cooks the eggs and Apple and Mailily a young girl, walk around dragging their feet and look like stroppy teenagers who can't be bothered. The so called manager spends his time standing around in a world of his own I guess dreaming of some fantasy world beyond this, the food is aimed for the Chinese guests and that's mainly it, the music is loud and the same cd of a piano that drives you slowly crazy is like Chinese torture , we had one meal here and it was horrid trust me, luke warm and like slime, the toaster is as old as the people who work there only good thing is it's unlike them and works very well. (Oh no 7 days later the toaster decided to join the staff and work half as hard, so toasted one side very slowly) The teapots come with no lids and chipped, even after explaining why you shouldn't drink from things that are chipped we still got the same pot every day until our friend then told them to take it away, and put it in the bin, the manager said but we only have 5 pots none have lids, we told him to get the hotel to buy new ones, so after that we never got the teapot again, the cups are grubby, the tables have lets that all need the bolts tighten and again in general the whole area needs a good clean. One of the male staff had the sneezes and would sneeze all over his hands, then carry on serving food! We sent him away from our table each morning, when we complained to the manger she said she would have a staff meeting, this never took place or if it did nothing changed. The pool is kept very clean and is at a lovely temperature not to cold, there is a gym and a bar area with sports TV and a pool table that is empty 99% of the time. The drinks are the same price as in the U.K. So don't be fooled by thinking it's cheap in Thailand. We were here 5 years ago and it was cheap then but not now, even the little beach bars are expensive and the sanitation is not good and not sure where the water comes from. They are building all new hotels all along this little bay and when you walk beyond the hotel part of the beach, there are broken bottles on the beach and you find workmen sleeping in hammocks on in the trees and there are no toilets for them so where are they going' The area smells at the end of the bay near the beach bars smells of live sewage NOT good, so think about swimming as there are pipes running into the sea! The beach has the most amazing views over the bay looking on friendship island, little boats sit in the bay and you can hear all the birds singing, free canoe for hour, the beach is cleaned everyday in front of the hotel and plenty of shade. For anyone that would normally sunbath topless this is not seen here at all so you may want a room with a balcony on the second floor beach fronted they are a little extra. You will need to be up ready with your towels at silly a clock for a broken dirty sun bed, as there are very few 30 in fact on the beach and 8 round the pool, everyone is broken so it's the best of the ones you have, towels are free from next to the bar at the pool, we found people up at 5.30am saving beds! This hotel was owned by Marco Polo groups and was a wow hotel however it's changed hands twice more since then and is now owed by a Thai family who have two hotels, what it lacks is management and leadership here the hotel has no one over looking the standards so they are poor, the managers they have are not strong they just don't get the staff doing anything they walk around shoulders down dragging their heals, when my husband spoke to the restaurant manager he laughed and said yes they are tied at 9am! He told him it was not a good excuse and should send them home to sleep then. This hotel is located away from everything so great just to relax, it's a short cab ride in to Panwa Cape, but it's in need of some loving care and good management.
"A Serene Tropical Oasis........."
We had a relaxing 4 night stay at this lovely resort, tucked away on a quiet, lush spot on Phuket Island. The resort has open Thai style architecture and lush tropical landscaping, with a large pool area and a small, uncrowded beach area. They also have a hot tub, but it is the same temperature as the pool so it really doesn't qualify. It's a perfect getaway for travelers looking to stay at a tranquil part of the island, away from the crowds and chaos of Patong and neighboring beach areas. However when you choose a tranquil spot like this, you are embracing the isolation. There are no shops or convenient amenities within walking distance, save for a few Thai tiki bar restaurants & a massage salon near the hotel on the beach. These authentic establishments are a good choice for inexpensive dining in a rustic setting on the beach, The hotel also offers excellent Thai cuisine in it's Baan Thai restaurant, along with a very limited menu of western menu choices. The breakfast buffet is excellent, with a omelette and egg station offering plenty of Western & Asian choices. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you want more mobility, the brave person can opt to rent a motorbike from from the front desk at a fair price. Taxis are available but taxi prices on Phuket are exorbitant compared to other areas. We stayed in a deluxe sea view room with a balcony and it was worth the extra cost! We had a stunning view and gorgeous sunsets. The room was comfortable. Note that the TV channel card is not accurate, they do not offer Cinemax and HBO, and the channel choices are limited. Internet connection is fair, not strong enough for steaming. We always get a SIM card with data so we can tether our phones to stream Netflix on our computers for entertainment. Our only two complaints about this property is that the towels in the room are old, tattered and worn. They should be upgraded to plush, fluffy new thick towels. Especially if this property is striving for boutique hotel status. The second complaint is that there is a shortage of chaise lounges around the pool, especially for such a large area a high occupancy. I counted only 5 chaise lounges and they are taken up quickly in the morning! There is no place to sit around the pool! The chaise lounges on the beach are old, broken and falling apart! Since laying by the pool and beach is a prime attraction of this resort, it is important that management purchase additional chaise lounges and that they should be of higher quality! A good pressure cleaning on some of the areas in the garden would also help as mould is visible on the walls of some of the buildings. These simple improvements would greatly increase the ambiance and value of this property. I think the Panwa Beach Boutique Resort is a great value for a beachfront property on Phuket and would highly recommend staying here.
"Very nice hotel"
This hotel is very good located. The beach is very nice & the staff is very helpful and friendly. Nearby you can find places to have some food at the beach. I recommend to rent a motorbike to visit the surrounding.
