"Awful Spa...full of rules and not for relaxing! "
The spa is a big disappointment. The staff are abrupt and seem to enjoying keeping guests waiting. To use the pool you are forced to wear a plastic hat!...Fear not if you want to indulge in the humiliation and don't have your own silly hat you can buy one from them! They have a slight obsession with electric turn-styles as well. I would not stay at the hotel again only due to the spa, this is not a place for relaxation!
"Great view of the St. Peter's Basilica and the Borghese Park."
Nice and very beautiful hotel. Gorgeous cosmetics (soap, shampoo). Great mattresses in the rooms. Not really like a SPA pool with low ceilings and smell of chlorine. Breakfast would have liked more hot food (pancakes, porridge). Overall a very very pleasant hotel. Thank you for your stay. Recommended to all. Great view of the St. Peter's Basilica and the Borghese Park.
"The Worst "5 star " ever"
Stayed in Rome before ( de Russie and Rome Cavalieri ) and everything was flawless there. This year we chose this hotel for new year and I will tell you , that was a wrong choice of hotel for us ... Bad things first: 1. First impression : were walking into the hotel to check in and there is a concierge at the front desk YELLING at the client over the phone ( they could not find each other in airport or smth ) . Imagine, yelling to a guest! 2. First night we had a dinner downstairs in their restaurant and the choice of food was poor , portions were small and some waiters were laughing at smth behind our back'! The waiter that served us was very welcoming and flexible though. The decor and interior in the restaurant feels soooo old and dated without class and style! 3. The third day of our stay electricity went off as well as water for one hour! Another hour before the water was clean again without rust and dirt. Never seen it before in a good 5-star hotel. 4. We booked a superior suite and they gave us a suite at the far end of the corridor in the corner. It was quite dark, also there was a leak from the bathtub. We decided to change room and asked the front-desk if they had other suites available but he answered that there was not, or maybe 1 other. But when we checked the website and also called reservation-office we found out there were 4 other available suites! NOT good 5-star service.... 5. Light control next to beds are not working. Same with thermostat, impossible to adjust temperature. 6. Music in the lobby is very low class, sorry, but poor piano-playing with this old style rhytm-box and not very good signing. Felt like a bulgarian piano-bar from the 70's... 7. We really like these old-style "palace-hotels", they can be very stylish and even modern and cool when the style and atmosphere is good, and service is good with positive and smiling staff. This hotel has some ok interior but feels mostly just very old, old and quite dated. The guests are also mainly older people, at least now in winter. Maybe different in the summer when you can use the outdoor pool. But if you want a beautiful classy old-style hotel with fresh atmosphere, this is not the hotel for you! Then you should pick hotels like Hassler or De Russie(little more expensive) or Rome Cavalieri which is in the same price-range and have exactly the same facilities as Parco dei Principi. Even if the spa and pool are a little more dated in Rome Cavalieri than Parco Dei Principi, Rome Cavalieri feels more fresh witht better atmosphere, better service and fresher staff and clientel. 8. There is a quite new and big spa-center with pool and big gym connected to Parco dei Principi. This center is not a part of the hotel I think but you have access as a hotel-guest. This spa-center is very good, nice and beautiful pool with several warm massage-pools on the side of the bigger pool. Very good! But 1 thing... They won't let you in unless you wear a cap on your head. I have been to many 5-star spa-centers before but never experienced this before. But it is ok, and probably good for hygiene. BUT...when they force you to wear this swim-cap, don't charge the guest 5 euros for that! If they force you to use it, let it be included! 9. Staff in housekeeping and at the breakfast-buffet speak almost no english! 10. The breakfast is quite average, not bad but not memorable either. Positive things: 1. Cleaning is quite ok. 2. Good location, just behind Villa Borghese and 20 min nice walk through the park to Piazza del Poppolo or Piazza Spagna. 3. Quiet place. Summary : urgently change your service and attitude at the front-desk, especially for some of the men there. Should be much more positive, smiling and welcoming!! More professional! Hire a better and more professional piano-player! Send your staff to english-lessons! Update your breakfast with more choices and refresh your restaurant, it feels very old, boring and dated...!
"Beautiful and relaxing place"
This hotel is exceptional, the service, the rooms, the view on the cupola of Saint Peter, the spa, the pool. The weather was warm and we could have a drink outside in the sun during lunch time. An overall satinsfaction.
"One Of The Great Hotels Of The World"
Luxuary is the signiture here and always, always request a room with viila/garden view (it is the Villa Borghese after all). From the concierge to the front desk the staff is the best and the house staff are quiet and always on top of everything. The pool is awesome and I am not even a spa fan but here it is worth whatever you want to indulge. This is Rome at it's very, very best. Over the years I have stayed in other places but when I want to spoil myself this is where I come or if I want to be romantic with someone this is really where I come. Whatever beyone first class is this is the place I guess elegant is the right word. There are some great restaurants in the area so use the concierge to set up all your reservations around town.
