This hotel is right out of a movie. The staff is welcoming and helpful. We had a light that was burned out in our room, they immediately sent someone up to fix it. The shower is amazing, pure heaven!!
"Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme is Still My "Go To" Paris Hotel!"
I have stayed at Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme several times and love it for many reasons ... perfect location, FABULOUS bathrooms, great closets in some of the room layouts, and great service. I had dinner at Pur' and it was excellent. They said it was 8 courses but I think with the "freebies" before and after their stated menu, I probably had 12 or 13 things. Some of the 8 courses had more than one item so who knows how many different dishes I actually tasted. I loved every dish except one.
"It is tough to compete against the Ritz (and soon the Crillon)! Not a good value!!"
The Park Hyatt Paris is one of the more disconsonant hotels in Paris. It is two blocks from the Ritz, compared to which it suffers. It is on Rue de la Paix, which is not exactly like Madison Avenue. I guess the best you can say is that they are trying to do the best they can with what they have to work with. When you walk in, you have a somewhat confusing situation--the first thing you see is not reception--it is the concierge desk. You have to go down some stairs to get to reception proper. The check in was very smooth--efficient and not too obsequious personnel. The decor is a bit strange--it seems that they have compensated for having to re-model an ancient hotel by an abundance of mirrors and bizarre sculptures, in the Giacometti style for the most part. The elevators are efficient, and then you go down long, narrow hallways to get to your room. Along the way, you are walking down walls that are padded with fabric, not wallpaper, with strange little overhead spotlights. I had the feeling that I was in an underground bunker, even though it was daylight and I was above ground. There are no windows. The room door closed like a bank vault, leaving me in an even stranger room. The ceilings must have been 18 feet tall. The walls were nearly all mirrors, making me feel like I was in a fun house. The bed was quite nice and large, clean and comfortable, but the mustard-colored carpet showed clearly not only the signs of wear, but little dust bunnies along the edge near the floor moldings. The bathroom was actually quite nice, though again, a bit strange. For example, the shower (for which you needed to step up a step--highly unusual) was its own little area complete with a sink and heated mirror right there in the shower with you. It made shaving a breeze! The bathroom was quite large, but with two doors, far from private. The toilet was a hoot---it had one of those "tuchis-washer" seats, complete with water works! The plumbing all worked. Amenities were all there, though not terribly generous. Room service was quick and efficient, but hold on tight--I had a bagel with salmon--for a mere 49 Euros. Thats right, over 50 bucks for a bagel with lox. That was one of the less expensive items on the menu, but they didn't even get that right--they made it up as a sandwich instead of how it should be served. The salmon was very ordinary, and the bagel was not New York authentic in the slightest, but then these guys make baguettes for a living, eh' Internet was pretty slow--I reckon about 5MB upload and download, hardly the state-of-the-art 50MB a second that you ought to get at a place like this. All in all, for my 470 Euros a night, I have to say that this hotel is a poor value. There are hotels that are nearly as nice for less than half, and as well located. I think they think they are competing against the Ritz, but that is not the case, and while unsuspecting foreigners might get sucked into paying that amount, a little searching will yield a far better bargain.
"Lovely hotel in perfect location"
An understated, elegant hotel in the most perfect location right next to the iconic Place Vendome and a stone's throw from all of the incredible stores on Rue St Honore! I came here on a shopping trip with a friend back in November and we had a great time. Service was excellent and staff is very friendly. Would stay here again.
We stayed here for 2 days on a recent trip to Paris. It is a very grand hotel in a great location. We were greated the minute we arrived, our bags were taken and we were shown where to check in. Our check in was seamless, we were then taken up to our room. We were upgraded to a larger bed which we appreciated. Our room was very spacious and very clean. The hotel was very quiet which made for a great nights sleep. It is in walking distance to the Opera, the Louvre Museum, close to the metro and some great restaurants. We enjoyed our stay very much. We used our free nights with Hyatt and were treated like we were paying full price. A very comfortable hotel with a wonderful staff.
