"Mid week break"
We took a two day break here in Mid December. The hotel is about a 15 minute tram run out of the Centre but it is possible to walk into Cologne shopping and 30 minutes. Service on check in was efficient and fast. Rooms are fairly basic / much of a much easier but were clean and serviceable. We had an ongoing problem with the loo that was fixed each time it went wrong but clearly needed a permanent fix. Breakfast buffet was excellent and included in room rate. Service in th bar both in the mornings and late evenings was good. We felt location was great - Universittate Stop a 5 minute walk away and tickets available on the tram once you get on. Works like a dream. Overall a good trip and we would stay again without hesitation.
"A perfect stay for your business trip"
This has been the third time in the last couple of years I have been at the park inn by Radisson Cologne. A great atmosphere together with a great stuff plus perfect rooms, a very good and fresh breakfast and really good wellness and fitness possibilities make this hotel to a: I have to come back when I will be in Cologne the next time.
If you are looking for a hotel with soul and character, this is not it. Likewise if you want to be in the heart of the city. The hotel is a fairly soulless modern building that could be absolutely anywhere in the world and there is not much of interest in the vicinity. However, if you don't mind a 30 min walk or a tram ride into the centre of town, this hotel is excellent value for money. The location was perfect for me as it is a 5 minute walk to the University, where I was working. I got a superior room on the 5th floor which was extremely spacious and comfortable, and well-equipped with good quality toiletries, a coffee-maker and a mini-bar. Everything about the room and the fittings was well designed, spotlessly clean and thoughtfully planned, with a particularly comfortable mattress and pillows. The only slight issue was a bit of traffic noise as the double glazing did not seem to be very effective, but other than that the room was perfect. All the hotel staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful and everything about the place is very efficiently run. I ate dinner in the restaurant one evening and have to say it was pretty awful. The breakfast buffet on the other hand was excellent, with a huge variety of fresh and cooked dishes, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, and decent tea and coffee. There is not much in the way of cafes or shops in the immediate vicinity, but there are lots of nice cafes, restaurants and a supermarket on Durener Strasse, just a 10 minute walk away. I would definitely stay here again.
"Great customer service in the middle of the night"
- Do I still have a chance to get something to eat' - Kitchen closes at 10pm... bar at 11pm... it's 1am. I'm sorry... - Oh shoot. Is there any place open close-by' - The only thing, McDonald's, 10 minutes walk, I'm afraid. You better take a taxi to Rudolfplatz, there's a delicious Italian place open till 4am. - Too much hassle... Need to leave early in the morning... Do you have an apple or something' - Let me see what I can do. And BAM - she comes with the copious plate in the picture. Park Inn Cologne. They know how to make friends. Or, at least the dark-red-haired lady at the reception knows. And that hungry people are the easiest and most grateful friends to make.
Hotel is out of city centre but short taxi brings you there fairly quickly. Conference was within the hotel: meeting venue and facilities were standard fair for large multinational chain. Everything was crisp, clean and worked.
