"Ok but definitely not 4*"
I stayed here for a weekend with my partner for the Amsterdam Marathon. Our room was in the annex at the back of the hotel. It was small to say the least. Quite possibly the smallest double room I've ever stayed in. However, the room was clean and generally the hotel service was spot on. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. Do note though, you will get next to no privacy. The shower/toilet area is behind a glass screen which doesnt join the ceiling so it is very much open, so if you've not been with your partner very long, you may wish to avoid this hotel! Perfectly situated for the Amsterdam Marathon, the Olympic Stadium for the Marathon start and the Expo is only a 10-15 min walk away. Easy to access the city centre from trams 2 &16.
"value for money"
Small room but there is everything. Clean, friendly professional staff, only reproach breakfast too expensive. a nice bar is missing the restaurant the hotel is very quiet ideal for the night in general for all good
"Past it's best"
Quirky hotel, liked the idea of the retro styling but very shabby and in need of some renovation. Free wi fi but it did not work in my room, but the staff on my third trip back to reception did change my room. No mini bar which when you want a soft drink late at night is frustrating..you could buy drinks in the reception area but really did not want to traipse down 3 floors. Bed too lumpy and soft. Staff lovely, the saving grace. I would not go back .
"Not a four star hotel"
Got this hotel via Priceline bidding for a four stars. It is more like a two stars, with no help to carry my luggage up the steps in the front of the hotel or the steps to go to the annex building. My room was behind the elevator with thin walls. I could hear people in the next room. The hallway to the room was tiny with bad odor. No safety latch on the door. The room was small, the mattress was old and too soft, bathroom had no tub, and no counter space around the sink. Breakfast is adequate if you could get it at discount price. The wifi is complementary but I must log in again every time, even if I just stopped google for five minutes. The hotel is not very close to the museum area. Amsterdam has a good tram system so next time I would rather stay at a decent hotel and use trams to go to the museums.
"Gavin Chart review"
I stay in PP hotels in London quite regularly and have found the level of service to be exemplarly. However, I regret that I cannot say the same for the PP Vondelpark. The quality of the room was fine. A shame that the level of service was less so.
