This is a great place to stay while visiting Amsterdam. Just a short walk through the beautiful Vondelpark to the city. Very helpful staff and rooms very comfortable and clean. Bar area very inviting. Good value.
"Very pleasant and quiet location"
The hotel's location is quite convenient and relatively close to town centre (for those who don't mind a brisk walk). Also very close to Vondelpark, which is absolutely stunning. The hotel provides just about all of the services and amenities a visitor may need -- although unfortunately the kitchen closes a bit early -- at a very reasonable price. Most of all I loved the studio I stayed in at the top floor, which was quite modern in design but also allowed me to feel more at home than conventional hotel layouts.
"Can't really fault it - a solid stay!"
I first think it's worth a mention that it is important, if you are staying at this hotel, to give the cab driver the exact address of the hotel as our driver dropped us off to a similarly named hotel around 3 hours walk (without Google Maps at hand and shoddy directions!) from the actual location we wanted to go! Just something to bare in mind before you start your visit. Once we finally arrived, we were greeted at reception by a lovely lady who made it simple to check in. Whilst verifying our credit card, she pulled out a map and helpfully marked off every location we wished to visit and exactly how to get to and from them (i.e. tram numbers etc.). Travelling into town was a treat - as you exit the hotel, turn right and walk down and short while to the tram stop and you can get the tram straight into town. The location of this hotel is perfect, having travelled with ease to the Heineken Experience, the Amsterdam Zoo, and the Anne Frank House, as well as the centre very easily from this spot. In terms of decor at the front desk - it's simple, and smart. If you turn your back to the desk, the rest of the foyer looks very casual, and welcoming. We didn't make use of this space, though, as we were busy most of the visit so can't add too many comments about the main hotel. Once we checked in, to our surprise the lady told us we had been upgraded free of charge which was superb! She walked us out of the hotel, and down a pathway to reach a second building - which I found quite interesting having never seen something like this before. She kindly led us up to our upgraded room and let us settle in. In all honesty, the room we received - although very nice, was not what I would have expected of an executive suite. I would have probably expected it of the superior suite which I had booked in the first place. However saying that, the bed was the most comfortable and large hotel bed I have ever stayed in, and the bathroom looks very sleek and stylish, being the most interesting en suite I have ever seen before! Although not a large space, the room was very cosy and we enjoyed sleeping here. I would definitely say that the room is very plain in terms of decor and could do with one or two pictures/art pieces on the walls to make it feel more welcoming and not as sterile, though. And some ceiling lights wouldn't go a miss as the only light sources were from lamps around the room which caused it to be quite dingy and headache inducing. One more thing to add is that the room service is lacking in choice, while the Thai Green Curry was delicious, I would have preferred more variety to choose from! In order to travel on the trams, you will need a travel card which you can buy from the front desk at 7.50E each. You're able to get a 24 hour one or an hourly one I believe. You are also able to buy these on the trams but were often sold out, so I would recommend getting them from the hotel if you don't want to faff around. The hotel is equipped with a gym, which, although we didn't use would probably benefit people using this hotel for a quiet getaway or a business trip. It also has free wifi which works a treat, and the televisions are all geared up with lots of English channels which came in handy at night! I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone speculating whether to visit or not. We really enjoyed staying here, the staff are very friendly and always willing to help, the location is just perfect - while out of the way, the connections are amazing, and it was very comfortable and quiet. If we return to Amsterdam, I wouldn't hesitate booking Park Plaza again, because I can't really fault it. Maybe next time we will ask for a room away from the lifts, though! Thanks a million for a brilliant stay!
This hotel was conveniently located on a tram route making access to everything in Amsterdam easy. The room was clean, comfortable and everything functioned as required. Staff were friendly and helpful.
"Best Hotel in Amsterdam"
You cannot do better than this small, friendly and perfectly located hotel. It is on a nice quite street and walking distance from the museums and social areas. From arrival to departure my stay was everything it should be. The room was ample, clean and very modern. The staff cheerful, friendly and helpful. This hotel will be my basecamp from now whenever i come to Amsterdam. I thoughly recommend thte ParkPLaza Vondel Park Hotel.
