"Nice hotel with one caveat"
Stayed here for a night in transit. Lovely hotel. Great location as it is right off the Ramblas - while the rooms are still very quiet. Well designed with competent, helpful staff. The one caveat is that there is no motor/taxi access. So upon arrival the taxi dropped me off on Las Ramblas. It is only maybe a 30 meter walk to the hotel but if I had been with my kids and lots of luggage it would have been inconvenient - if not worse - being dropped off on the side of a busy road with luggage looking for my hotel is. But other than that a very good pace that I will visit again, sans kids and luggage.
"Great location but mislead on quality of room."
The hotel was in a great location and the room was clean and spacious, however, when we checked in, the guy at the reception told us he upgraded our room. We were so happy as the room was kind of expensive. When we got to our room we were pleased with how roomy and clean it was until I walked into the bathroom. It was a bathroom modified for the handicapped. I took a shower first thing and noticed the floor was flush with the shower stall so a wheelchair could wheel in. When I was done showering I opened the curtain and the entire bathroom floor was flooded. I frantically threw the hand towels and my own towels down. They were not enough. It took 4 more towels to soak all the water up. I was horrified and got really mad at being told we were upgraded! The room was also very noisy as we were woken up all night from bar-hoppers loudly making their way through the streets below. We would not stay here again.
"Barcelona in the Spring"
The Petit Palace Boqueria Gardens is in a great location within walking distance of Las Ramblas. The entrance is beautiful and the courtyard offers a secluded oasis in the middle of Barcelona. The rooms are small which is expected for Europe in general. The beds are comfortable to sleep in after a day of exploring Barcelona. The cleanliness of the rooms are sub-par as our bathroom walls were mold filled and smelled of dried urine. I wanted to run to the bodega across the street and purchase a bottle of bleach to clean my room myself. The shower pan was slow to drain causing it to overflow. The shower panel itself had poor water pressure which made bathing difficult. I felt as if my skin was soapy despite rincing fully. No place to put soap down while showering. The wall paper in the bunk-bed area was also mold filled at the seams. The electrical switches in the bunk-bed area were non-functional. Our furniture needed refreshing as it was already showing signs of excessive wear. Our room faces an apartment/hostel which you can see into their living quarters if you keep your drapes open. Our drapes were out of their carriages which made them difficult to slide and keep closed. I cannot rate the breakfast buffet since I did not purchase the option (although it was offered to me for 15 Euro per person per day-we were a family of 4). There are many excellent dining options within walking distance of hotel. The only reason I offer the rating is due to the courtesy of the reception staff and the location of hotel.
"Right in the city center"
Our family of four stayed at the suite, which we found quite nice and spacious. This little hotel is very charming. It is located just steps off La Rambla, one of Barcelona's main streets. We arrived early and the staff was nice enough to offer free luggage storage while we were waiting for our room.
Booked this place less than 24hrs to arrival. Perfectly located amongst the buzz of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. It is just a few steps to La Rambla and Liceu Metro (green - L3), and a couple more to the Liceu Theatre and La Boqueria. Staff were quite nice and pleasant. I was able to check into my room early. Stayed in a room near the garden, with my very own patio overlooking the garden. Very tranquil and felt like worlds away from the noise of La Rambla and/or the bars. Room a bit small but clean, and with plenty of amenities. Breakfast was really yummy with plenty of choices - some spanish. Staff there were extra nice and the dining room is beautiful. Solo traveller and felt quite safe.
