Jan 22 Yesterday after Su's cooking class the whole scheduled collapsed. The MDL--CNX Bangkok Airways flight was delayed 5 H until 11:00 pm. The only bright spot was a quickly arranged tour of a village named regrettably Plague that was arranged by Nan, our wonderful tour guide in Mandalay. It was an experience being the only tourists in a weaver's village. At the airport we had a poor dinner at De Mandalar as compensation by the airline. We finally arrived in Chiang Mai at 1:00 am where our guide, Mr Noom, greeted us and rushed us off to Ping Nakara. Since his uncle owns the luxurious boutique hotel, he was able to check us in and hand us the room keys. This place is ultra duxe. The furnishings and finishes in room # 201 were uncompromising. The king bed is heavenly. The glittering bathroom had both a tub and shower. I didn't use the balcony. The breakfast was a la carte and probably our best breakfast yet. The dining area is on a covered terrace beside the pool. The ambiance was pure heaven. We all loved this hotel and wished we could stay longer than one day.
"What a lovely find! Luxury and charm!"
We had an outstanding stay. The location, was walking distance to the market and " town". The staff was excellent - they gave us great tips for dining and activities. Lastly, fun amenities like the antique car and a cute tiny bar for happy hour- just great! If you love luxury but with a " boutique" uniqueness you will love his hotel!
"SO SO DISAPPOINTING !!!"
This hotel did not by any stretch of the imagination live up to the website description or any of the previous reviews It was 3 star accommodation for 5 star prices ! The size of the room disappointing with very limited storage space, the garden view did not exist but overlooked a lane. The Nakara Jardin is not part of the hotel and closes early evening so limited available use. The staff were polite but inefficient and lacked training The one evening meal we had was the worst eaten ... cold poorly presented and overcooked. The only good service was in the spa As a separate point we had some serious safety issues with the tour company positioned in the hotel which was commented on. Despite all of the above being raised with the management of the hotel no response received. Thank goodness for the Mandarin Oriental !!!!!
"Nice little boutique hotel in Chiang Mai"
My husband and I were at Ping Nakara hotel for 3 nights early January and we throughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful small hotel, lobby is nice and the hotel grounds and pool are all perfect. Room, large with comfortable bed and nice LANNA interior and furnitures. Few things they can improve on, room was little dark and shower and toilet definitely needs updating. It is concrete painted on and very outdated, will be great if they tile them . We ate few times at the hotel and included breakfast were very tasty. Besides that it is great in a good location and great staffs
My wife and I stayed at the Ping for 3 days in January while on our Honeymoon. The Hotel location is excellent, walking distance to the old city but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. The property is beautiful, elelgant and clean. The pool area was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet had a nice selection of options. I loved the waffles. I always judge a hotel on the coffee and the Ping's americano was delicious. The room was beautifully decorated. I loved nice touches like the slippers, and delicious local snacks. We participated in Almsgiving at dawn. The staff was gracious in answering all our questions. The staff was excellent and very accommodating. I appreciated the attention to details and the all the efforts. We look forward to returning next year.
