"Ok, not 4 star service"
The hotel grounds are beautiful. The room that we had was fairly small, which is fine, but the shower was awful, when taking a shower the liner sticks to you the whole time, it was very small. In fact, im guessing because the door was swollen at the bottom, everyone is having the same issues. The balcony was nice. The bed was fine as well, no complaints. One would think if it is four star that maybe you would get more than one pillow. The thing that really bothered me was that we wanted to order room service, there was not a menu in the room, so my husband had to go to the front desk and ask about room service. Yes. They said they had room service but he was not allowed to bring me a menu because there was a menu in the room. Well, there was not a menu in the room or he wouldnt have walked to get one. It is very rude to make someone leave the room twice to place an order for room service. I do not usually complain too much about service because people do have "off" days. This was very inconvenient, and to dispute the fact we had a menu in the room already, ugh. We wouldnt stay here again simply because we would dread that shower. Im not too worried about the room service issue, the food wasnt memorable enough to reorder.
"Wonderful with just two complaints about Porto Hotel"
Friendly greeting, was served a refreshing sour cherry drink upon arrival. Porto Hotel is a nice hotel we had a great view of the sea, nice grounds walking distance to everything, friendly staff, but they had us sleeping on a box spring with a mattress topper, my back is still hurting, not a good feeling. We had some senior citizens with us as well and they also complained about their beds. At breakfast they have this cat hanging around in the room where we were eating, one gentleman said he did not mind the cat but most of us did and complained about it. One young lady in our group got up from her chair and the cat jumped in it and was immediately shoosed(sp) away by another guest. The cat kept coming to out table and walking under out chairs with his long tail hitting us on our legs. One of the waiters shoosed(sp) him away with the tray he serve the guest with. Other than those two things, I had a wonderful time in Mykonos. Mykonos was one of three Island that we visited on our vacation. The shops were preparing for the summer season and most shops were closed to the tourist, but it was just nice to walk through the quaint town and see the beauty of it. Also, go see the windmill behind the waterfront, and eat at Vergas Restaurant towards the end of waterfront. See Delos Island and hear the history of it. So much I can say, Just enjoy it. We will be back.
"Could do Better"
Friendly greeting on arrival and the delicious welcome drink was certainly that. What was not so welcome was the news that our room was not ready (Seriously' it was 1-ish in the arvo) and we were told it would not be available for at least 90 minutes. Given no option, we made the best of things by heading down to the Old Port (about a 3 minute walk) for a brief explore and a spot of lunch. We dutifully returned and were taken to our room, which was surprisingly spacious. Then realisation struck: the "room safe" key looked like it was straight out of Hogwarts; the water pressure was awful and the air-con seemed to make a noise but that's about it. We had a cute little balcony with an awesome view of a large car park. We were advised to close the wooden shutters when not in the room to deter thieves, which was great in theory except you virtually fractured a shoulder trying to re-open them. Then we discovered why our room wasn't ready when we arrived: they don't clean the rooms until about 3pm, hardly ideal for tourists who head out early to explore, return to hotel mid-arvo to rest and shower before venturing forth again for a meal and party. Great location. That's about it.
"Never Again "
Booked the windmill room 4 months in advance as it was unique... Came to check in after long trip from Australia to be told that they given my room to someone else.. Gave us a dodgy room, Toilet and phone didn't work. CRAP.. Never Again..
"We found another hotel"
We arrived late in Mykonos and arrived at the ‘new port’ the new port is for all the ferrys since the old port is not deep enough for them. Unfortunately for us everything was closed down. So we hiked up the highway in the general direction of our hotel according to google maps. I advise against doing this! It was dark we had to keep switching sides of the road because there were no places to walk and didn’t want to be on a blind spot for vehicles. Thankfully we safely made it. We entertained lots of locals telling them that we walked all the way from new port into the main part of town in the middle of the night. Anyhow, the hotel was very ‘hoity’. We paid lots of money for this hotel and we were disappointed. We learned that we liked ‘boutique’ hotels. They charged lots for everything… beer or water in the room. And then we were put in a corner room that seemed to be on the backside. Away from all the action (room wise and hotel wise). Our room wasn’t anything special either. It was big and spacious and that’s about it. Rock hard bed. The hotel and grounds themselves were gorgeous though, and breakfast buffet was super good as well. But it was an expensive night for what it was worth, we felt. We left the next morning to find a different hotel that was more ‘downtown’ and better walking distance to all of the action.
