"We found another hotel"
We arrived late in Mykonos and arrived at the ‘new port’ the new port is for all the ferrys since the old port is not deep enough for them. Unfortunately for us everything was closed down. So we hiked up the highway in the general direction of our hotel according to google maps. I advise against doing this! It was dark we had to keep switching sides of the road because there were no places to walk and didn’t want to be on a blind spot for vehicles. Thankfully we safely made it. We entertained lots of locals telling them that we walked all the way from new port into the main part of town in the middle of the night. Anyhow, the hotel was very ‘hoity’. We paid lots of money for this hotel and we were disappointed. We learned that we liked ‘boutique’ hotels. They charged lots for everything… beer or water in the room. And then we were put in a corner room that seemed to be on the backside. Away from all the action (room wise and hotel wise). Our room wasn’t anything special either. It was big and spacious and that’s about it. Rock hard bed. The hotel and grounds themselves were gorgeous though, and breakfast buffet was super good as well. But it was an expensive night for what it was worth, we felt. We left the next morning to find a different hotel that was more ‘downtown’ and better walking distance to all of the action.
"Perfect location, Poor service & beds"
We booked this hotel last minute due to a ferry cancellation. Let me start by saying that the hotel is wonderfully and conveniently located to Mykonos town and the port. However, the service here left something to be desired. The man working the front desk was very friendly (unfortunately, I do not have a name), but both women that we spoke with were curt and not welcoming. Our room may have been next to a storage room because for about 2 hours all we heard was chairs sliding across the floors. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable and the room was dark. However, I do want to say that outside of the hotel does look lovely and has a great view from breakfast. As a note, the breakfast is not fully included.
Hotel that is close to the old port and with amazing view. I requested for a room with sea view and the hotel gladly obliged. When we checked in the staff was courteous and informed us everything that was needed to know. Well connected to nearby locations and would recommend to go for rent a car/bike/atv which are easily available next to the hotel location. Only negative was a behaviour from a hotel staff in the restaurant during morning breakfast when there was a group of 50 odd people being serviced together. My wife could not locate cutlery and asked a staff there to help and he rudely asked her to look for it. Well may be he was under pressure seeing so many people at one go, but that's part of the job and needed to be handled efficiently. Otherwise, this hotel is a nice place to stay.
I go to Mykonos for my summer holidays for the last 8 years. I know that everything is overpriced but at least in most of the cases you pay for the best quality. The main reason we chose to stay at this hotel this year is the fact that is walking distance from city center and therefore there is no need to drive at night or worry if you have to much to drink. The second advantage this hotel has is the nice view of the port and the town of Mykonos. Other than these two I can't find any other reason why would anyone stay there. The breakfast was not that nice, it was poor. The swimming pool area small as well. The bathroom in our room was the smallest I've ever seen. No room to put anything and no way to have a shower without splashing water all over the room
Arrived at the hotel and were warmly greeted with a drink. Room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Note to non Europeans, don't expect a chain business style room, this is Greece. It is also built on quite a few levels so not so good for the infirm. Balcony was wonderful, sea views, ships and Mykonos town. Pool area was nicely landscaped and very relaxing. Staff all very pleasant and attentive. My only criticism would be that breakfast could be better, proper juice please and specialty coffees with no extra charge.
