"Amazing view. Under average hotel"
This hotel has probably one of the most amazing views of Ipanema, Leblon and Lagoa I've ever seen. A 360o view of the most beautiful area in Rio de Janeiro. The roof top pool in fantastic and always packed. However, I did find this to be an below average hotel with the AC in the room not working properly, super small and claustrophobic bathroom and a tv the size of a computer monitor. The actual location is not a simple walk from the best restaurants and bars in the area, and I would say not a safe walk either. For the price, their are better options.
We had an excellent time. The hotel is perfect, the rooftop with the pool is the perfect place to watch the sunset. I wish we had stayed longer. The room is very comfortable. The service is very good and the people at very kind.
"Excellent place to stay"
Great location, views, and staff. The most amazing views from the rooftop pool, bar and restaurant. Staff were friendly. Great breakfast. Ticked all the boxes and was one the best places we stayed in Rio.
"Great location, good service and food"
The hotel is the last on Ipanema beach before Leblon beach, and so is quieter than those nearer to Copacabana. The room was spacious and clean, with a massive comfortable bed. Our balcony overlooked the sea, with a 180 degree view of Ipanema and Leblon beaches. The breakfast room looks out to the beach. Abundant fresh fruit and coffee, along with fried food and bread and pastries, the breakfast was good and unhurried. We didn't eat in the restaurant at night, but enjoyed caipirinhas at the rooftop bar. The infinity pool is nice, but relatively small, and there aren't so many sun loungers because of the space, but that is just the rooftop area... Ipanema beach is just across the road, and the hotel has a free towel, sunbed and parasol service on the beach, so there is no need to stay around the pool! The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with trips, taxis and any question and especially efficient when my credit card 'chip' broke. We had no issue with noise at night, and we slept soundly. The hotel is well placed to explore Ipanema town on foot, or to go around the Lagoa to the Botanical gardens. So many great bars and restaurants within 10 minutes of the hotel, and without the hassle/bustle of Copacabana. Or you can do our beach walk challenge - 7kms from the hotel up Ipanema around Arpoador and along Copacabana to the Windsor Atlantic - but it had to be a taxi home! Would definitely recommend this hotel.
"Hotel will treat you better if you speak Portuguese"
The hotel, location, pool, rooms are all very good, however the attitude and service level of the front desk staff made our stay not so good. We arrived with another couple who had booked the same room type as us who had invited us to Brazil. We stayed in mid-December with a lot of empty rooms, and asked if we could check in early. The front desk staff said we would need to pay to check in early so we decided we would not do that. However when they granted the other couple an early check in and double upgraded room type we were quite upset. Rather than trying to help us, the front desk staff was very unaccommodating and kept telling us we were not entitled to check in early. This made it hard to enjoy our time here and we felt uncomfortable asking for any help from the staff. That aside, the breakfast area and their staff are super nice. And the pool area has awesome views. The fitness area is not much to brag about. We also found out that we reserved our room for R$ 605 and that prices had subsequently dropped to about 450, so keep checking the hotel for lower prices if you intend to stay here.
