"Another great stay!"
We recently stayed at Privilege Aluxes for the second time. We stayed in Room 142, February 28, 2017 - March 9, 2017, which is a Honeymoon Suite with 1 king bed and a whirlpool tub on the balcony with a view overlooking the pool and beach. Check-in was smooth with no problems. The room was clean and everything was in good working condition. Since we were getting married while staying on the island the staff had left us a bottle of sparkling wine and a tray of deserts! Housekeeping did a great job each day - be sure to leave them a tip! We did not choose the all-inclusive package this time but we did receive breakfast each day as part of our room rate. The buffet is perfect for breakfast. We usually ate lunch from the beach restaurant. There are so many wonderful restaurants on nearby Hidalgo Street for dinner and entertainment in the evenings. We noticed a couple of things that were different this year: drink service at the beach was slower than in the past, perhaps they had fewer servers working each day but we do make sure to give them a tip each time as they do work hard. The other thing was supposedly the beach is only for resort guests. That is not the case. People, sometimes groups as big as 8 people, would pay the server or bartender $20 USD each and they were able to use the beach, chairs & palapas, etc... their $20 goes towards drinks and food. Often times we'd see them carrying in their own alcohol to use once they spent the minimum amount. One day in particular we saw at least 4 couples using 4 palapas and they did not pay nor have a temporary wristband. I think the security guards are hired from an outside firm as they did not seem to notice. What is frustrating is that we would then be unable to find a place to sit on the beach so we would have to sit by the pool - sort of makes a paying guest feel cheated. I really hope they do something about this as they should only let non-guests buy a day pass during low-occupancy times not during high-season. We look forward to staying there again, perhaps this December!
"My Happy Place"
This was our 3rd visit to Privilege Aluxes since May 2015 and it just keeps getting better. The staff are always friendly and helpful. They really go above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The rooms are beautiful and have all the amenities you'd need. The food is great at each restaurant and the beach servers make sure you have everything you need all day long. The beach has soft, white sand, crystal clear water and some of the most beautiful sunsets I've seen. The island has a laid back vibe and is perfect for a relaxing vacation. Be sure to rent a golf cart and tour the island. Head out to Hidalgo Street for evening entertainment. All the locals are very friendly and accommodating. We will continue to come back as often as possible. Thank you to the AMAZING staff at Privileges for always making sure our vacation is a memory one!
"Love Privilege Aluxes!"
We have stayed at Privilege Aluxes 3 times and absolutely love this place! The staff is phenomenal....hard-working, polite and so efficient! Great location and beautiful beach. I wouldn't plan on staying anywhere else but PA!
"clean, great location, beautiful beach"
first time to isla mujeres. really loved the island -- very beautiful. did not do the all inclusive. did get the grand platinum suite -- dipping pool and balconies fabulous with amazing views! will do this review as pros/cons list. pros: very clean rooms, comfortable bed and pillows, delicious buffet breakfast (included), friendly staff, beautiful (big) beach front with plenty of available seating, very close/walking distance to downtown with shops and restaurants and playa norte and golf cart rentals -- which are cheaper than renting from hotel but you have to leave your driver's license (yikes!). cons: for all the great reviews i read, we were underwhelmed with the food at the beach restaurant (mediocre compared to elsewhere on island). our biggest complaint was that much of the staff at the front desk (although friendly) were not very fluent in english which made getting information from them challenging. as far as the island goes, definitely rent a golf cart (in hindsight, we would have pre-rented online for the whole time we were there), go to punta sur (gorgeous views), places to eat: rolandi's (on hidalgo) - great pizza, margaritas, and dessert, sunset grill - amazing paella, muelle 7 - accommodating staff and great ceviche and lobster, mango - fish tacos, guac (make sure and go in church across the street), villa la bella bar - great margaritas and frozen mojitos (and view!) went to jax because of so many reviews but was just a sports bar with bennigan's type food.
"Can't wait to go back!"
My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Privilege Aluxes and decided to come back to celebrate our anniversary. After our second trip, I can officially say that we would be hard pressed to find a resort we enjoy more than Privilege. The location is absolutely perfect - you're just a few steps from beautiful Playa Norte. I can't say enough about the staff. They were always smiling and helpful. Upon check in, we were assigned a room located on the first floor. We spoke with the front desk to request an upgrade to a higher floor and within two days Olivia found us the perfect room to upgrade to. Next time we will initially book a room with a sea view. We booked a Suite Deluxe and the room was very spacious. If you plan to spend the day on the beach under a palapa where you can have food and drink service, I recommend getting there early to claim a set of chairs. We typically didn't have a problem with this, but if you show up to the beach too late the chairs may all be taken. The resort is very safe and we noticed they had security guards positioned near the hotel entrance and on the beach. We especially enjoyed the Tuesday night beach party at the Beach Club (food, drinks, and live music on the beach... so fun!). I can't wait to book our next trip to Privilege!
