"Some improvement needed but not a bad hotel"
This is my 2nd stay here. The hotel is a little secluded and thus commuting can be a issue, the hotel however provided free shuttles to malls and other places around at fixed times. A taxi ride from he hotel to ioi mall Wil be 11 myr and apx 25 myr to Cyberjaya. The rooms look 'old' but are comfortable and some modernization may help. Breakfast is good and served both local, Indian and European stuff. The pool while is small gives a good view. In room dining is just about ok. Check-in was smooth.
"PutraJaya Shangrila ... a disappointment"
On-line booking.com photos are great but real life... a disappointment and misleading. A rather run-down hotel, staff are not smiling, looking so unhappy, not a welcoming entrance, the colour of the building and the paint is so dull and has no life. Totally not interesting at all. The interior makes you feel like you've gone back to the 70's .... need uplift, paint job, spirited staff.
We stayed at this hotel before an early morning flight. Having stayed in other Shangri-La hotels before, this doesn't even come close. The pool was closed due to a thunderstorm so we went to use the other facilities. We found both the men's and women's steam rooms were broken and you had to use string to keep the sauna doors closed. The rooms were okay but fell a long way short of 5* accommodation. They desperately needed upgrading. The hotel offered 1 hour of free drinks early evening. This was a nice treat except the hotel offers no entertainment. The place was totally stale and lifeless. By 8:30pm we went to bed because we were bored. I normally stay at the Pullman Hotel in Putrajaya. It is far better. The rooms are more modern. It offers a proper bar area with some entertainment. Sorry Shangri-La. You've let yourself down
"Fails to live up to the Shangri-La franchise"
I was very disappointed with the quality of the hotel. I stayed over weekend for a conference and the condition of the carpeting for meeting rooms was appalling. It smelled damp and awful. Unfortunately my room was on the same floor and although the room itself had minimal carpeting, the damp carpet smell was so strong it permeated through into the rooms. The bath tub had stains and scales & did not look clean enough to use. I hope they do more to improve on the management of the property.
"Disappointed for a 5 star hotel"
The room is very dusty (tables, floor, sides of the window & bathroom). The floor has leftovers of previous construction and was not cleaned if after room cleaning the next day. The kettle was badly designed where it leaks, and the pillows were too soft. No weighing machine and only one bathrobe was provided although there were 2 occupancies. However, the check in and check out was very fast and hotel staffs were very polite and attentive.
