"Saturday Night Stay"
My Husband & I stayed at The Radisson Blu hotel Cardiff last Saturday and throughly enjoyed all it had to offer. The staff were pleasant and helpful. At the moment the hotel was having construction work doing to update its appearance but this was of little consequence to guests as disruption was kept to a minimum. Our room was a Standard Double Room which was spacious. The bathroom had a bath, shower within the bath and large vanity mirror above the sink & toilet which was well lit. Bed was comfortable and the pillows were amazing. Very clean, tidy and inviting. The Breakfast the following morning was included in our rate and was delicious! I could have gone berserk but reigned myself in but what I did have was lovely. The only negatives for us was the bumped up prices of the drinks in the bar hence we only stopped for one and the parking rate of £18 to park your car within the hotels basement car park for 24hrs. If your taking a car there's a NCP car park just further a long opposite the University of Wales Music place which charged us £7.50 for 24hrs!!! Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and we will be back in the future sometime.
We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel room was large, clean and quiet. It was very modern and reasonably priced. It was easy walking distance to many things. The train station was less than 5 minutes away, and the Cardiff Castle was about 10 minutes away. The hotel is adjacent to a large pedestrianized area that is filled with shops, pubs, and restaurants. We ate at The Cottage pub and at Jaime's Italian; I recommend both.
I have now stayed here few times The first parking was a pain when your following the sat nav as a lone driver, but after going around once found an NCP as the hotel park was full. The second time I managed to get parking in the hotel carpark which I have to say is more convenient. The third time I parked in the John Lewis carpark but had to wait for the car park to open as I was up early. Reception is usual light airy place and staff where friendly. First Room was dark and I have to say was not overly impressed, and had a nice view over some works. The second time I was slightly higher, but the view was not pretty. The third stay I was in a business room, views were really great and you could see all the city. From a business stand point the room is fine plenty of plug and USB sockets, bathroom was serviceable with plenty of room for razor, and other items. Lifts can be a pain in respect of the waiting times The bar is well placed and you can look out over towards the St David’s centre. The staff are friendly and the food is not too bad. The second stay was on a Friday and the bar did have a stag do meeting. The restaurant food is really very good and well worth a visit. Have to say I do like the positioning and the hotel overall.
Very helpful staff, hotel was bright and cosy, rooms very good lots of power points, Good tea making facilities biscuits would be nice, room was just a little on the dark, lovely bathroom and towels, excellent breakfast. Will come again and stay on my next visit to Cardiff.
The hotel is well positioned in the centre of Cardiff. The room was comfortable and clean. The only downside was the lack of on-site parking. Parked opposite in John Lewis at a cost of £20 for a one night stay, could work out expensive if you plan on staying a couple of days. Breakfast was included in the deal which was very nice.
