"Christmas shopping with my mum"
Great location for train and shopping. Friendly staff lovely room. Definately go again. mum loved shopping Would recommend this hotel so convenient for Train station and St Davids shopping centre, also great for Cardiff castle and Motoarena, all within walking distance and plenty places to eat nearby
We booked in to the Radisdon Blu, Cardiff for one night to visit our son at the University. To begin with they wanted £18 to park our car overnight. There is a NCP Car Park just down the road which is £7.50 for the night. The room keys didn't work they said it was because we had put them next to mobile phones, having had them both re-set they still didn't work! There was only one lift working which was very slow, so trips up and down the stairs with dodgy door cards was not amusing. The room was cold, tea making facilities very limited and despite the Room Service being advertised as 24hrs a day, due to HEALTH & SAFETY FIRE REGULATIONS only a cold sandwich was available after 11pm - what utter rubbish. What they meant was due to no chef being on duty only a limited choice cold sandwiches was available, at a cost of £7 plus the tray charge of £4!! Room cost £84.60 without breakfast. Poor service!!!
"Good quality in central location"
I spent one night here and was very impressed with what proved to be a spacious 7th floor room. It was clean, well decorated and tastefully furnished, and most importantly the bed (I think a king size) was extremely comfortable. There was plenty of wardrobe storage, which included a small safe, hairdryer, iron and board, and the room also featured a large TV and the standard kettle and drinks. The bathroom had a bath and shower, and hot water was plentiful. There was no "internal" noise from other guests, however it must be mentioned that the hotel sits alongside the line into Cardiff Central station, so you will occasionally hear some minor train noise. I used only the restaurant for breakfast; the food was plentiful with options of continental and full English. The latter could have been a little warmer. The only negative is the lifts, which take ages. There are actually 3 if you go searching. That said, as I need the exercise, I took the opportunity to use the stairs (be slightly careful - these are not carpeted above the 2nd floor and the lights appear to work on motion sensors). I must also mention that the staff on reception and in the restaurant were excellent. I will certainly make the Blu my preferred option should I have the need to return to Cardiff.
The hotel reception and bar is very nice but our room was very dated and in need of modernising! The bed was uncomfortable with an awful silk headboard, the sheets were like a hospital bed and there was stains on the carpet, however the bathroom was modern and clean. Two other couples in our group weren't happy with their rooms and managed to move. To top off the stay there was a problem with one of the lifts which kept breaking down while we were In it and the queue was so big for breakfast that we didn't have time to wait! The hotel is in a great location but there are much better hotels in Cardiff to stay that are just as central .
"Excellent for a night or 2 in Cardiff "
Stayed here this week after booking in advance at a very reasonable price. Very impressed with room - corner room with great city views and very sizeable. Modern and clean, toiletries in bathroom and tea / coffee making facilities. Excellently positioned for everything - so close to Cardiff central train station / motorpoint arena / restaurants / shopping. Very welcoming staff. Well recommended.
