"Very poor first and last impressions"
We had a very poor start to the stay. Arriving shortly after standard check in time we were told that it would be around another two hours before we could access our rooms due to flight crews using the interconnecting rooms we had requested. I notice from a previous review that another family have experienced this very same problem, so please just be aware if you are a family wanting these rooms. We travel frequently and when rooms aren't ready - especially after standard check in time - we have almost always been offered an alternative room to at least rest and freshen up in. Not here though. We were just told in a very matter of fact way to come back in two hours. No apologies were made. As it was raining we decided to have a late lunch/early tea in the hotels bar/restaurant. We firstly sat in the bar area and were eventually served by a miserable lady who offered no smile or pleasantries throughout our dealings with her. We then moved through to the restaurant area. It has a limited menu but service was much better with the waiters really making an effort to impress. Thank you. Food quality was good. Just be aware there is currently building work right next to the hotel which could be heard from the bar and restaurant areas. The rooms were basic. Do not expect any luxurious touches. Just basic rooms that are functional but don’t make you want to spend time there. The standard pillows are very soft but they do have a pillow menu to choose from. We ordered four of our preferred pillows but there were only two available. The alternatives provided were good however. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The shower was powerful and the usual Radisson This Works toiletries were good as always. Through the app, I requested some English Breakfast tea bags for our room, only to be told that this type of teabag wasn't provided free of charge and should I want that type of tea it would have to be ordered through room service at a charge! Strangely though, our daughters room did have English Breakfast teabags provided. I queried this through the app but have yet to receive a reply! On check out, a man asking for an umbrella interrupted. The staff member decided to deal with this man and walked off to fetch his umbrella, not asking if it was ok with us. On her return she was then asked if she could phone a taxi for him. So we were left waiting at the counter again with no apology. When she eventually returned she asked if our stay had been ok. We raised some of the issues encountered and she did apologise for the shortfalls but the damage had already been done at that point. We would not choose to stay here again.
"Not for children above baby-size"
Had quite nice two-night stay at the well-located Radisson Blu Hotel, Hamburg together with my wife and our 11-year-old son. Did not sleep too well, however, as the extra bed that we would expect after having booked a room for two adults and one child up to 13 years was not available. In other words the hotel allows for two adults and one child but expects them to sleep all three together in a queen-size bed under the same quite warm duvet. And they do not even provide an extra towel. The positives, a great breakfast and a nice sauna and steam bath, can not help being overshadowed by sleeping packed like sardins under one duvet. I would think that a Radisson Blu Hotel could do better than that.

"Great hotel in a good location"
Stayed for 3 nights in February with husband and owner first time in Hamburg. The hotel is what you would expect from a chain and although on the outskirts is situated next to the train station. We had a lovely room with great views of the city. Staff were very polite and extremely helpful. With had the B&B rate and the choice was fantastic continental to cooked and everything in between.
Often just a short stopover but very enjoyable. Just next to the train and in walking distance to the town centre, so no need for additional transportation. Rooms are very nice and clean, with a gorgeous view over the town - make sure to ask top floors and view to the Alster. Staff at check in is efficient and knowledgeable. Currently outside noise is a bit disturbing as the construction works just next door at the convention center.
