"good location, next to easy exit from town"
This hotel is right next to the slip road for a quick and easy get away in the morning. Good lobby bar with friendly bar staff who will bring you food from the restaurant if you wish. They offer a very good breakfast buffet to.
"Good big hotel!"
Stayed at Radisson Blu, Deutz, Köln for 2 nights for the Xmas markets. Although not central, Deutz is on the 'other' side of the river from the main town, there is a tram stop right opposite. Although a bit of a maze to negotiate the crossings to get there! Trams are frequent and being Germany, reliable and safe. 5 stops to the city centre. Runs into the early hours too. Hotel big and spacious yet not anonymous. Staff were nice and helpful. Room well equipped - iron and board, usual tea and coffee things, nice big bed and air con/heating. Like their green idea of miss a day of room service. Shows they care too. Got a room with nice view over Deutz on 5th floor - it is a business area so don't expect beauty but if at front you get a nice skyline of the Cathedral etc. Room service was one of the best I experienced. Probably too quick! I ordered and expecting 15 mins or so had a quick wash. Man arrived with my dinner as I was drying off! Can't complain about that really. Food nice too. Had restaurant dinner next night, equally good quality. An interesting chicken consomme soup and pizza. Very good. Absolutely no complaints about this hotel. Price reasonable for quality and good value. Free wifi with no password carry on either. One thing, more personal. A strange huge cast iron Rhinoceros in reception - absolutely hideous - but guess that's a matter of taste! Watch taking things from mini bar. The big bottle of water is 7 Euros! I think that is very dear. Nonetheless, will definitely stay at this hotel again gicen chance. Highly recommended! Thanks for a nice stay guys!
"DO NOT BOOK PACKAGES ONLINE"
TL;DR: tried to book a hotel and spa package with various additional amenities on the Radisson Blu website, was charged accordingly, then told we'd only gotten a room--no spa, etc. Unhappy customers show staff glitch in website and they rectify, but only after almost 2 hrs of waiting, after an almost three hour drive. *** This hotel is a wonderful place, and our stay ended up being great with the help of the staff, but I've declined give more than a three star rating for the hassle of getting things right. We used the Radisson Blu website to book the Claudius Therme package which includes a free drink at the bar, dinner, breakfast, 50% off hotel parking, and a day pass to the Claudius Therme spa (allegedly with robe, towel, and slippers--which is not true, you only get admission for the day). We also decided to upgrade, when prompted on the website, to the junior suite metro style for an additional 68€. We booked online, used a credit card to reserve the room, and thought nothing of it. When we arrived we'd driven three hours and were ready to check in. Or reservation was on file and they happily gave us our room keys. My girlfriend kindly pointed out that we'd reserved the package deal which included dinner, etc. and this is when we were told that we'd only booked a room--no package. Upon closer review of our reservation confirmation we found out why they thought that--it had no mention of the package, just the upgraded room. As such, and with justifiable rationale, the hotel refused to honor the package without proof. The corporate reservations office had no further details either. They then came back and said that we can get the package as we *thought* we had reserved it, for nearly 150€ more. This didn't sit well with us, as the good deal was genuinely the only reason we booked that hotel instead of something more affordable. They then responded that by downgrading the room to a standard room, we could do it for almost as much as we'd originally been charged online, which also did not make sense to nor appeal to us. Luckily the cancellation policy said we had until 18:00 to cancel, and given the ridiculous run around, and the fact the spa package online was actually showing up as cheaper than when we originally booked we were going to cancel this reservation and make another with the proper package deal detailed. This is when, in the process of booking the new reservation, we'd noticed that in the final screen before you submit your reservation and are responsible for it, even after specifying the package there was no mention of the package: just the upgraded room we wanted. After pointing this out to the lobby staff whose English wasn't the best (and our German is atrocious) she asked the front desk manager to help us. After tagging out, the front desk manager gave us the same options for the "rebooking" of the package for 150€ more, which we politely denied, and asked to cancel. I then showed her the steps we took to book the room and what the final confirmation screen looked like, and she then, after deliberation, told us she was sorry about the glitch on the site and that they would honor the package as described, with our room upgrade, for the original price. AFTER this debacle all was wonderful, especially the room. Based on the hotel and the service it's certainly worthy of a 4+ rating, but this experience left a bad taste in our mouths.
"PMW EXPO - Cold and wet but the Hotel made the stay"
Another box ticker from the Radison Blu group.. Great hotel, great security, loved the much bigger room ( compared to London ) and the bar was , lets just say very interesting and lots of fun. Also witnessed the Carnival madness, which was amusing. Hotel food wasnt 10 out of 10 but there are plenty of great eateries in close range. Great, clean and modern hotel with impeccable staffing.. Recommend to anyone
"Very good, needs litlle bit more for A+"
We stayed there for weekend for seminar. The hotel is at great location, near station that can get u to airport in 15 minutes. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Especially about metro information and sightseeing tips. The big ( - ) for me is gym. It only has 3 equipments ( leg kick, lat machine, shoulder press ) and free weight up to only 8 killos. There is 2 tredmils, steeper and bit more for cardio. Sauna is great but I believe that high class hotel should at least have more decent gym. Great breakfast, but disappointed by lunch tbh. Anyhow, I would still recommend it for positive reasons above and its very close to bridge and cathedral.
