"Overall a very nice place to stay"
Overall, I had a very pleasant stay here. The building has a very nice design aesthetic. The room was nice and clean, and the mattress was comfortable. It was a queen sized bed, but they provided two separate small duvets, for some reason. A proper duvet would have made it more comfortable. For the first half of the week, the Wi-Fi was incredibly unreliable. I would get about ten minutes of usage and then not be able to connect again until the next day. Mid-week they must have fixed something though, because after that it was rock solid and fast. I found the breakfast buffet to be quite expensive at 25 Euros. Perhaps it's a fairly normal price for business hotels, but I think it's ridiculous. The dinner restaurant was very good, and I felt it was priced well considering the quality of food. Location is fairly well central, making various tourist and business spots easy to get to by car or public transportation. The parking situation was a little annoying, in that you had to pay with cash each time you wanted to get your car out of the garage, so if you want to go somewhere in the evening, you'll be paying more than the daily rate. The gym is small and was packed the one time I used it. But I didn't have to wait much to use any of the equipment. I would definitely consider staying here again the next time I'm in Cologne on business.
This is a nice hotel but its located a bit off. You need to google about the tram system. Once that is done you easily find your way. Hotel with nice gym and sauna facilities. The breakfast was very good.
"Good rooms, great breakfast, nice bar! Can't complain!"
Stayed here on business. If you have to be around the Koln Messe conference area or Lanxess arena, this is a great location. Otherwise, it is far from everything else in Koln. The rooms are nice and cosy. I had a comfortable stay. I especially appreciated that they accommodated an early check in for me since I was coming off a long flight. Probably the only hotel to do so in my many trips to Germany now! Nice lobby bar area that allows for socializing. The gym is average - lacks equipment. Sufficient if you want to do some cardio and that's pretty much it. The breakfast is quite good, and I appreciate that they have a live counter for eggs which is not so common in hotels across Europe.
"What an excellent hotel !!!!!"
This is an excellent hotel. The breakfast is wonderful one of the best I have had anywhere. The friendly bar staff and receptionists are highly commended. They also have a great sense of humour. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Will be back. Thanks for making my stay great.
"Great for Christmas Market trip"
Me and my boyfriend stayed here the weekend before Christmas. I booked the trip as a surprise for my boyfriend’s bday, I let the hotel know in advance and we were welcomed with some cheese, olives, bread and red wine in our room which was a nice, thoughtful touch, especially as we checked in late and were hungry. Check in – the gentleman that checked us in wasn’t particularly friendly and asked if we had booked our trip through Expedia (which we had) and requested (quite abruptly) that next time we book through them directly instead, which I thought was quite an unnecessary comment and why would I do that when it’s cheaper booking through Expedia. We didn’t talk to front desk staff much, but when we did, to ask for directions to the city centre I got quite a rude response and was told to give him space. The hotel itself is nice and looks lovely to pull up to, especially in the run up to Christmas with the huge Christmas tree in reception and Christmas lights outside. Rooms/ bathroom - were nice and clean, and they were cleaned to a good standard every day. Tea/ Coffee were supplied in the room alongside a kettle, although me and my partner found it quite annoying that only 2 tea bags were supplied every day, however one day we did ask reception for a couple more tea bags, not a big ask but the same gentleman that checked us in reacted like we’d asked him for the moon and rudely pointed us to the bar – however a nice girl at the desk stepped in and grabbed some extra tea bags and milk for us which we were grateful for. Gym/ Spa – very simple/ quite small, but clean which is the main thing. Massages were very overpriced so we didn’t bother, but we would have had it been cheaper. Location – I know a lot of people have said that it’s quite far from the city centre, it is… if you’re lazy. It’s a nice 15-20 minute walk which includes a nice walk across the padlock bridge which we enjoyed doing every morning/ evening– so no real need to catch a tram. It’s also a 5minute walk to Lidl, which was good to get basics eg water - as the petrol station next to the hotel was expensive. Tax – Annoying that they add this to your bill on Check Out. Taxi to/from airport – We thought we were being ripped off initially as it was around 30 EUROS for a 10minute drive, if that – but apparently this is the normal fee. Good location to airport.
