"Highlights and low lights"
We always stay at a Radisson and this was a last minute arrangement. The upside was that the hotel is well up to Radisson standards and the staff nice.It is a busy party/wedding reception type of place and the foyer can be very noisy. It was a good stay only marred by a couple of points; as we were on a tight schedule and parking overnight can cost £20 upward we decided on the offer of the hotel parking and returning the car for £25, which is good. The problem was when we asked for our car it took nearly an hour due to a ticket mix up. If you use the service give them on average half an hour notice; they do advises this. The breakfast was ok but no bacon when I looked and no cutlery, the whole breakfast was a bit laboured but ok..I would stay there again and like the place but thought the comparatively minor points needed a mention.
"Terrible ventilation "
Room furnishings decent if a little dated. Service good. Ventilation awful. Foyer stuffy and smells of eggs. Room stuffy. Windows don't open and aircon is ineffective and sounds like a diesel generator.
"They need to re-focus and up their game."
Stayed last Saturday night with my wife and another couple. Check in was slow, lady was lovely and they did have a room ready for us at 1pm and as the check in isn't till 3pm I was well impressed. The rooms are spacious, clean and the bed is great. The big minus for me is that for £169 there isn't a bottle of water complimentary. There wasn't one in the mini bar either that you could buy. Tea and coffee supplied, but no biscuit. I think that given bottles of water in a plastic bottle are only 14p its poor service. We slept well and the hotel was not noisey. They have a late breakfast that is between 7am and 11am so that's good, trouble is the breakfast too be honest is overpriced at £12.95. The bacon is rubbish and it just look like a steamed pan of fatty broiled bacon. Had to ask for eggs as there wasn't any. Black pudding was that dry you could knock a nail in. The toaster is a Duallit type toaster where you can toast unto 6 slices. Half of the elements are broken so it only toasts one side, which is pointless. Question, which manager checks these things for quality. The coffee machine went off and took a young lad called Josh to sort it out. He was a very nice lad who seemed to be on his own and was doing everything. He brought the coffee to the table for me. A lot of staff hanging around at the front bar area talking as well, perhaps they were talking about the toaster!!! . I have stayed here a couple of times before and actually wrote a nice review last time, but the standards have definitely slipped since then. I probably would try somewhere else in Liverpool which is a shame as I generally like the brand.
I have just returned from a 3 night stay in Liverpool. We had a great time in this wonderful city however the accommodation at the Radisson Blu let us down slightly. The first thing I noticed about the hotel was how the layout of the corridors looked startlingly like a prison, albeit a very modern and clean prison. We were located on the very top floor of a high rise building. This I did not mind but my elderly mother was not too keen. There was a very high balcony looking down into the lobby which made her nervous. The main problem with this hotel I felt, is the design and layout lacks a human touch. It felt clinical and was trying too hard to be cool and modern. The rooms were boxy which would have been acceptable for a short stay except for the lack of air. The rooms felt claustrophobic and stuffy as there were no windows that could be opened, even a fraction. Therefore the aircon needed to be on constantly and unfortunately the aircon was extremely noisy. Our sleep was disturbed considerably due to this. We visited in March I imagine the warmer, summer months would be unbearable. The food was mediocre and over priced, again style over substance. I would not stay here again. On a more positive note most of the hotel staff were great, they were friendly and professional, especially in the leisure centre. The pool area is quite pleasant and relaxing. The location is good as is walking distance to city centre shops etc. .
"Very poor standard for a radisson"
I was very disappointed wit this hotel, it didn't have a yes I can attitude. I work for a radisson in Dublin so I know all about being yes I can and how this is portrayed to guests but when we arrived into reception on Sunday we just didn't receive this from reception, it was almost like they didn't want us to approach, there was no hello straight away when we walk in. We tried to check in early(I had asked for one when I booked) but I was meet with sorry we don't do that but was never asked for my name just in case the room was ready. Then the hotel couldn't find my tickets I got dropped off nd after ten to fifteen minutes finally found them. When we came back to the hotel that night we were very tired and just wanted something quick to eat, we decided to eat in the bar. This was very disappointing, the bar menu is very poor and dear enough 12 pound for a pizza and if u wanted something to just nibble on was 6 pound like some chips. Where I work back home we have a full bar menu with the like of salads, steak, Shepard pie etc. I also sat at a table for about ten minutes and was never approached by a staff member so we left and went else where. This was disappointing as I was so tired and wanted to stay in and I know this is not a typical radisson standard to try avoid customers especially one who would work for the company. Breakfast on both mornings was very disappointing. We went down both mornings at around ten and it was open for another half an hour. Had to ask the first morning for the buffet to be refilled and the second miring they didn't care about refilling everything was nearly empty or was empty i.e. All the pastrys. It was almost like it grand all our business clients have gone through there is only a few more guest to go through we don't need to refill it. We would never get away with this in my hotel in Dublin. Also on the second morning I asked for a fresh fried egg as the one left on the buffet looked like it had been there a while, I asked for a fried egg easy over and the staff seemed not to know wat the was but proceeded to go into the kitchen to get what I thought was a freshly cooked egg but when I got it about a minute later I'm guessing it came if a batch that was sitting under the light in the kitchen for a while which was disappointing. Either the staff member was to lazy to ask as she didn't know wat kind of egg she was asking for or the chef wasn't bothered about making a fresh egg and wanted to get rid of the batch he had done up previously. I hope that this message will hope you improve with the standard and that guest will get a great radisson service. I expected more and I just didn't receive it when I arrived. Even on the Sunday when I arrived I dealt wit the one staff member in reception and then when I came back again but she didn't remember who I was and had to ask for my name again so I could check in. I also felt that even though I was a radisson staff member and this was noted when I checked in I felt the hotel didn't go out of the way to go above and beyond for me and give me anything out of the ordinary. I stayed in other radisson and on arrival I got an upgrade etc but in this hotel nothing
