Wonderful location walking distance from Atocha Station, easy cab ride from airport. Lovely bar & restaurant at the front of the hotel and a couple of good cafes for breakfast close by. Prado is walking distance as are both Sophia Reina and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums. Lovely Prado gardens with a Crystal Palace. Would stay here again in a flash.
"Ideal hotel for your stay in Madrid, business or pleasure"
Radisson hotel is perfectly situated in the centre of Madrid, walking distance to the major museums, the Retiro park, Atocha station, etc, but also the historical centre is within reach. We rented bikes for all days, which proved to be for us the ideal way to get everywhere in Madrid. The hotel is very well equipped with all you need for your stay. Moreover, very friendly personel, fluent in English (and Spanish I presume) helped wherever needed. Rooms are clean, have all we needed. The only downside were the relative high costs of breakfast, which we solved by taking that in neighborhood
"Rainy weekend in Madrid "
Straff was generally very friendly and helpful. Arriving late the first night I was assigned room 301 which was in my saying inhabitable! The room was extremely hot even though it was in the end of October. No matter how many times I complained the staff didn't seem to be able to lower the the temperature. When I opened the small window to the patio outside the ledge was filled with pigeon faeces and they started flying all over the place. I asked to change rooms but that had to wait to the next day since the hotel was full. The next room was very good with wiev to the street. I was not offered any kind of compensation. And we overheard the staff talking about us saying. "You know, they have THAT room" in Spanish. If you plan to stay here. Make sure you get a room facing the street. And room 301 should be taken out of circulation.
"Worst choice of TV Channels I ever experienced in a US Brand Hotel"
I booked the Radisson Blu Prado Hotel in Madrid to visit the Prado museum and to stay in a Hotel where the staff should be fluent in English. Yes, the staff speaks English, but whoever picked the 96 TV channels has a very strange taste and does not seem to care for English speaking guests, in particular Americans: there are 10 English channels, thereof only one (CNBC) from the US. Bloomberg is advertised but does not work. CNN is not available! There are, however, 19 Arabic channels. In addition, in a country where football (soccer) is king, there are no sports channels carrying the games played by Real Madrid or FC Barcelona. I did not come to Madrid to watch TV, but I had expected to at least find CNN among the 96 working channels. On the positive side, the hotel location is good and the room is reasonably clean.
"Wonderful stay over the weekend in the heart of Madrid"
We had the opportunity to stay again in our beloved Madrid in early October and enjoyed very much the location of the hotel in plain center of Madrid. Located in the barrio of 'Las Letras' the hotel is very close to Prado and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza as well as to Plaza Santa Ana and Plaza Mayor, all in walking distance. The wonderful barrio encloses picturesque locations of tiny small bars and restaurants, which give you the charming flair of downtown Madrid. Service is great, rooms are calm and very clean, breakfast is nice. So whenever staying in Madrid, chose it for your next stay, you won't be disappointed.
