Spent a week in January for much needed sunshine and wasn't disappointed. Good weather all week. Large room with spacious balcony. More food variety would have been good but didnt go hungry! Will return.
"I would give it 6 stars if I could"
We've just stayed a week at the Radisson Blu in Patalavaca and couldn't be more pleased. When we arrived, we had to wait a bit for our room to be ready, which was fine as we soaked up the sun just off the lobby with a glass of cava. When we got into our room, we realized that without telling us, they'd upgraded us from the one-bedroom we'd booked into a beautiful two-bedroom suite. It was pure heaven. The room was not only spotless when we first checked in, but the housekeeping staff was fantastic throughout the entire week. They kept our coffee supply stocked, cleaned the room each day beautifully, and even ran the dishwasher for us when we forgot to do so. It was wonderful as well to have a washing machine in the suite so that we don't come home with a suitcase full of dirty laundry. I think everyone notices when the housekeeping isn't up to par but in the case of this hotel, they are all clearly very well trained and do a super job. As well as the grounds keepers - the place is really beautiful, the pool area clean and tidy, and the public washrooms by the pool and at the gym are always immaculate. Breakfast: No complaints here. There is a wide variety of options for every taste. The omelettes are excellent, as is the fresh fruit. Plus the staff at breakfast are very friendly. We used the gym every day and for a hotel gym it is great. They have numerous cardio machines plus weights and weight machines. Sure it's in the basement of the hotel, as most hotel gyms are, but at least it's clean, well supplied with towels and water, and has more than enough options to get in a really good workout. This is not a cheap hotel, but you get what you pay for. In this case, what you get is a wonderful hotel, great staff, yummy breakfast, and a lovely location. I wouldn't stay anywhere else on Canaria.
"Pretty good, but not quite 5*"
We stayed in a 1-bedroom suite for one week and had a very good time. The room was spacious, bright, clean. As mentioned in previous reviews, staff is very helpful - even enthusiastic -, the view is amazing, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The resort is generously designed, apparently the hotel was fully booked while we were there but it never felt crowded. Why only 4 stars and not 5' 1. On three occasions our room had not been made up when we returned from the day's outings around 3pm despite having left before 8am. 2. The sunloungers by the pool and in the garden are spectacularularly uncomfortable. Their steel frame and level of comfort make me wonder if they originate form a 70ties Soviet Russia Black Sea resort. 3. The biggest fly in the ointment is the nocturnal free entrainment (from around 7.30 - 10.30) from the party at the not so nice but very big neighbouring resort. Unfortunately the music wafts across thre bay and has the potential to spoil a quiet evening of the balcony.
"These people turned a potential disaster into an excellent experience"
In August 2016, we went to Grand Canaria for a week’s break. At around 10 pm, we initially checked in to another hotel in Puerto Rico (which shall remain unnamed) and at 10:30, we had decided that that place was not for us. Usually, we vacation in the Caribbean and rightly or wrongly; we expected a certain standard. In the morning, we called the Radisson Blu, explained our situation and asked if we could stay with them. At that point, I would have settled for an air-conditioned room. When we arrived at the Radisson, we had a Champagne welcome by friendly and helpful staff. I think they saw the pain in my eyes and turned on the charm from that moment. Within the first few minutes, I was made to feel that our well-earned vacation had truly started. You must remember that this was sort of an emergency. We arrived in the morning, way before usual check in time and this must have been outside of protocol for the staff; but you have never guessed it. They secured our luggage and we were allowed to use the pool and other facilities until our room was ready. My daughter slipped into holiday mood for the first time since we arrived in Grand Canaria and we sat by the pool drinking cocktails and watched her frolic in the pool with the other children. This was the start of the vacation we needed and expected. We were made to feel relaxed and I was so grateful to the staff for everything they did. The room and the view was spectacular, we literally could not ask for anything more! The hotel facilities were also beyond our expectations and the restaurant served some of the best food you will ever have on holiday. We arranged a couple of trips around the island but I would have been more than happy to spend the entire time on the hotel compound. Again, thanks to the staff of the Radisson Blu for rescuing us and offering us a brilliant holiday.
Good hotel, good service, nice and clean. Good pools, good breakfast. Good view and nice quiet room. Reason why not give higher score was smelly aircondition, couldnt use it cause of smell. Really expensive in room rates but it was nice and peacefull. Nice garden with sunbeds. Still im gonna think twice next time is it worth of money.
