we recently returned from a timeshare break at the Radisson Blu (Golden Sands) a bit apprehensive about the timeshare hard sell etc.(3 hours ish) well to be honest from start to finish we were treated like VIPs, even when we decided against the purchase, of what I might add, were superb rooms and super overall facilities on site, Paul Noad our sales advisor was professional throughout. I would recommend this offer of seeing Malta via a timeshare with Azure at the Radisson a must. Once again thanks Paul for making the experience a great one.
My wife and I spent a very relaxing 4 day stay at this hotel. It is enviously positioned overlooking a beautiful sandy bay (not many of these on Malta!) with great views. The hotel comprises 3 main inter-linked tower blocks, some of which appear to be used as time-share/member accommodation. Upon arrival at the hotel, after negotiating the unexpectedly heavy weight of traffic from the airport, we were warmly greeted and were allocated a room in the middle block on the 7th floor. Although we hadn't booked a sea-view room, we got one which was very welcome. Our room was very spacious, very well equipped (including a kitchen area with small cooker, microwave, fridge and a sink), clean, modern and extremely comfortable. We experienced no noticeable external noise from our room, and sleep quality was good. The a/c at the hotel was not turned on, but the cool ambient temperature meant that this was no problem during our stay. Outside, the hotel grounds are well maintained and the pools are very attractive. Staff were generally courteous, friendly and efficient. We used the spa facilities every day. The indoor pool was of a good size and the jacuzzi and steam room were good. However, there are separate saunas in the men's and ladies changing rooms and the men's sauna was out-of-action for the duration of our stay. The only other issue we had with the spa is that children were supposed not to use the indoor pool area before 4:30. However, several parents ignored this allowing their 'little darlings' to run wild spoiling the peace and tranquillity of the area. The hotel spa staff did not seem to care about enforcing the rule. We used the Seasons restaurant for breakfast every day and the buffet spread was excellent. We used the same restaurant one evening for the Carvery but our meal was disappointing with overcooked meats and lacklustre accompaniments. We ate in the Ogliolio restaurant the other nights and found this good, but beware the very large portions (on more than one occasion we had to take some of the food 'to go' as we couldn't eat all of it!). Apart from the hotel restaurants, there are no other eateries in the vicinity of the hotel which was a bit of a disappointment. The other disappointment is the limited amount of parking spaces at the hotel. Despite the fact that we stayed in low season, it was extremely difficult to find a space. In fact one day there were no spaces at all. Goodness knows what it must be like in the height of summer.
"Timeshare Experience with Azure"
This is a fantastic hotel in a unbelievable location and unlike anywhere else on Malta. Having holidayed in Tenerife for many years, Timeshare became a dirty word. However we are now into our 5th year with Azure and I can honestly say they deliver a 5 star service in a 5 star resort. But like anything financial, make sure it's for you before you sign anything. We will be back in September for some more pampering.
We have stayed here many times, the feeling you get when the hotel comes into view on the drive from the airport is great, the hotel stands on the cliff and overlooks the stunning beach. Once checked in we enjoyed the full sea view from our suite and generous double balcony, crack a bottle of red and watch the sun sink slowly into the horizon, you know your on holiday. Every staff member and especially Henry is helpful and attentive, there are numerous places to eat drink and be merry, and also very comfortable areas where you can sit and relax, read or do whatever you like. The various eating places are all excellent and the choice is there to suit all, we have stayed over 15 times mostly in our timeshare suite but sometimes we have been upgraded, always pleased to be there. You are probably best to hire a car but if you don't want that there is a hotel mini bus which to and fro across the island and just outside the grounds is the local bus service which is very frequent, taxis are readily available to. The beach is cleaned every day with plenty of facilities and a private area for timeshare guest with waiter service to your sunbed. The sunset is a joy everyday, the whole bay lights up with a golden hue as the sun sinks into the sea. We never tire of the resort and buying a timeshare here has been a joy, All in all we recommend Golden Sands, we can't think of any downside to this beautiful place.
