"Good location, away from the noise of Copacabana"
Overall the hotel is average, but has a very nice stretch of beach just in front, food is good and not too pricy. Other than that nothing fancy. Rooms do require renovation despite being comfortable. Sleeping quality id good, internet in the room was not working well but the view is great and sitting at the balcony is very relaxing. Did not use any facilities other than the meeting rooms. its a hotel to stay for a couple of days and use the beach in front while exploring Rio. A bit far from the main attractions if tourism is your main reason for visiting.
"good location, nice staff"
There was some really nice people in the reception. The parking is ovepriced but there was always enough parking spots at the nearby streets. Dangerous ' who cares, it was a rented car. Nice swimming pool. The beach was wonderful. Nice restaurants and shopping centers nearby.
"Hotel on seafront"
I stayed already on a few occasions in this hotel in Barra da Tijuca. It is nicely located straight on the beach. Positive: - Good and large breakfast - The rooms are large with a nice balcony with sea-view (sort of sideways). - Large rooms - Extremely helpful staff that really does an effort to solve your problems as fast as possible (this is unfortunately exceptional for a lot of Brazilian hotels). Negative: - The hotel is in need of renovation. There are carpets everywhere and after a few years the humid tropical climate of Rio de Janeiro makes that there is often a "damp" smell in the corridors and rooms. With air-conditioning this is compensated but there is still a damp feeling. This is also the main reason why the hotel didn't receive an Excellent rating.
My experience started with the system being off line . So I had no keys to get into the room . The room was clean , great view of the beach . Shower was ok , bed was ok , food was good , breakfast too many people but awesome view . The body guard was very rude by making fun of what you are wearing and definitely not trained or polite . Blocked me from getting in the hotel after I was wearing only shorts and no shirts . I also tried for 3 days to get the safe to work , but the staff seems to be useless in solving problems . Overall very poor experience .
We recently stayed at the Sheraton hotel having stayed there some years before and having read the reveiws wondered a bit what we might find. Whilst the decoration in the rooms is tired in the sense it has not changed in some years the hotel is general fine, with a great location, friendly staff and we did not encounter any issues and the rooms were clean and well appointed. The Hotel is someway out of town so is best suited to visitors who only want to dabble with the Rio attractions and spend some time on the great beach or other activities
