"Cozy, artistic, wonderful"
My husband and I have stayed in this hotel for 4 nights during our visit from St. Petersburg, it was really wonderful. First of all the location is perfect. You are almost near to every thing, historical places, night life, food, bridges, .... The bed and pillows are unexplainable. After a long day of walking this is the most needed thing in the world, a comfortable bed. The break fast was also good. The rooms are clean with a modern decoration. I loved it
Very nice hotel; friendly service, special credits for extremely comfortable beds! Our room was in 7th floor and street side, noise from the traffic was s little bit anoying. Breakfast was ok, but this was the first time for us in St Petersburg that there wasn't any sparkling wine in breakfast during weekend, comparing to hotels at same category.
"Good, but poor location"
I am going to commence this review by saying this hotel is in a TERRIBLE LOCATION - I put this in caps, because every other review here states thst the location is great, which is one of the reasons we chose this hotel; therefore it is really important for me to say that it is NOT and that after 6 nights here, I want to jump off one of the bridges into the canal every time I have to walk home along what is probably one of the most boring and unattractive streets in st petersburg ( that is saying something, as pretty much all the streets are stunning!). As for the hotel itself, different story. We were travelling with our son and booked a suite (414). It was a fabulous suite; fabulously comfortable bed, bathroom and separate (large) extra toilet and basin, loads of cupboard ,space, little seperate reading nook in a bay window, every convenience one could possible want in s hotel room - they have thought of it all. Coffee machine PLUS seperate kettle for tea (I'm a tea person, my husband coffee and it is most unusual to get any in Europe let alone both!) and sooooooo quiet and dark - I don't think I have ever had a better nights sleep - for that alone, gold star! But back to the location - too far away from everything. We had to get a cab every morning - walked home every night, as not so easy to get a cab when out and about, but really tedious having to cab all of the time. Not even a location where cabs were handy - always had to be called and usually took a good 15-20 minutes to arrive. No particularly good restaurants handy - closest easily 15-20 minutes walk - in summer this might be pleasant, but not in the middle of winter! Based upon ts fa t alone, I wouldn't recommend the hotel. The other thing we found was that although the staff were very pleasant, they often had no idea what they were doing - a mixed bunch. One concierge was excellent but the other (seemed to work every second day) was so hopeless we wondered why she would have such a front of house position. Even today, I asked if a particular museum was open, being a public holiday - she advise me that it was most definitely closed / we happened to be walking past late this afternoon, only to see it was open ( too late in day to make the visit worthwhile) - this information should not be a guess - she could have called if she wasn't sure - and we missed out, as this is a one off visit.....we were also regularly given other misinformation - I won't bore you here; also had some other weird things going on, like the receptionist who rang our room at 10.30pm (almost 11) at night to discuss some charges we had queried earlier in the day - my husband advised we were in bed and didn't wish to discuss at that time of night but she kept insisting! Never experienced such odd behaviour in a hotel. So what can I say' Room great, some staff not well suited to their roles, position rubbish. You decide! But great night sleep.......
"When you don't want to leave your hotel room"
I travelled a lot and once in a month live in hotels. I have a very big hotel experience, but Radisson Sonya is still in my heart. It is absolutely amazing that a hotel from international worldwide chain has so unusual designed after Russian book crime and punishment. My mansarda-room on the 7th floor realized all my child's dream to have a bedroom on roof. The night view of Liteyniy made my night like in fairy tale. Except the very awesome atmosphere, the service is excellent. I would like to thank all front office team, and big thank to Kristina K, who made my stay. Breakfast was also good with big variety of food with smiling stuff. It is out of the question where I will stay in my next trip to Saint Petersburg. Thank you Radisson Sonya.
"Classy hotel on excellent location"
This is an excellent hotel by any measure, and absolutely perfect if you are into Dostoyevsky, or if you are Club Carlson gold member. Walking distance from most of the points of interest, excellent service and rich and varied breakfast with tasty fresh smoothies.
