"Surprisingly Disappointing "
As a Club Carlson frequent stayer was very surprised and disappointed in both the quality of hotel and especially the service or lack there of. Front Desk staff quite condescending- "the guest is always wrong, even when the guest proves themselves correct." No recognition for being a frequent stayer with Radisson Hotels. No internet service in hotel for several hours in the evening. Finally began working again after 11 PM. Guest room was a dungeon with a view of the backside of the elevators from hotel room window!!! Room was clean. First and LAST time for me at the Radisson Sonya Hotel. Many better choices in St Petersburg!!!
"Good hotel, but with some challenges"
1. The room is nice and with a decent space. It is also pretty clean. 2. The food is also exceptional, at a very decent price. And really I mean exceptional. You can have salmon with eggs and red caviar for about 10 euros or so. 3. It is quite near to the Nevsky Pr., so pretty much in the city center. 4. The service is also friendly and quite decent. Now starting with the bad parts: 1. Laundry is changed every 3 days if you do not request it else 2. Not everyone in the hotel or the reception speaks decent English 3. They will not be able to explain how the phone in your room works for international calls. I struggled and found out only 4 days after. Furthermore, if you want to use your phone, you are requested a guarantee-fee of about 40 EUR (2000 roubles as far as I remember). Which in my case was pretty annoying, as they could not explain me how it works, and in the end they wanted this guarantee, which... how should I put it - my stay at the hotel was already paid, and it was about 1600 EUR. So you ask me for 40 EUR guarantee, after you were not able to explain from the beginning how the phone works' All things considered, I would still recommend the hotel, as it is one of the best in SPB for its price.

"The kindest staff of professional I have ever met"
I have traveled the world up & down and never like this time I have found professionals so helpful and kind as in the Radisson Sonya of st. Peterburg. The hotel itself is very cosy and central. Like all Radissons it offers a good breakfast, nice and clean rooms, a good restaurant (I will write e dedicated Judgement on T.A. because they also deserve it) and a nice sauna. The position is very nice and central, close to Metro Station and few enjoyable steps from the famous Nievsky prospect. I strongly recommend this Hotel and its staff for a very nice stay in the charming city of St. Petersburg.
"45 years later ..."
My first visit to this beautiful city was in 1971 and our school party was looked after by Intourist. The first hotel we stayed in was interesting and adequate. So 45 years later I finally made it back to stay in this quirky and comfortable hotel on Liteinsky Prospekt. The hotel is warm and comfortable, with friendly staff who speak excellent English. My room on floor 2 had a very high ceiling and overlooked the inner courtyard - so not a lot of daylight. As I was there for only 48 hours, that was not really a problem. The bed was cosy, with excellent pillows. The bathroom was clean with good towels and an efficient shower (no bath). The wifi was efficient and free. We ate in the hotel restaurant on both evenings and the food was good. Breakfast was served in the inner courtyard - a lovely space, serving lovely food. And I could brew tea in a teapot with boiling water from a samovar! Perfect. Although the location is just outside the main central area, the public transport to Nevsky Prospekt is frequent and cheap. In the summer there are several easy walks to the river Neva and other tourist sights. I would definitely stay here again. As a footnote, the second hotel Intourist put us in on our return to Leningrad (after 6 days in Moscow) was The Astoria. Imagine that!
