I spent a few nights in Beijing on business and stayed at Raffles. I didn't quite know what to expect but can honestly say that it is definitely one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The lobby and public areas are all high quality with lots of interesting artefacts to look at. The staff were always polite and helpful. The room I stayed in was spacious and clean. The food was also extremely good with breakfast having a wide range of cuisine to suit eastern and western tastes. The room service that I had was also excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel whether in Beijing on business or pleasure.
"5 days stay"
On arriving John The Raffles ambassador for the hotel welcomed us with drinks fantastic idea while the checking in was completed. After checking in our luggage was taken in to our room. Excellent service very nice large suite with club room facilities
"Affordable old world elegance in a good location"
Stayed for four nights in November in the so called "slack season" when things seemed a little quiet in Beijing generally. Room - a business room king - was very large and though a little worn in places we thought it retained an aged elegance. Only minor issue was some difficulty in getting the room cool enough at the night despite the low temperatures outside ! As others have noted, the location is very good for the Forbidden City et al, the concierge and the Raffles ambassador are very helpful, breakfast is a useful inclusion (good range and good quality and not sure what the alternatives are nearby), and the Writers Bar while very quiet for us was an enjoyable place of a drink one night. The gym is pretty good too.
"We loved our stay, too bad Raffles turned operation to Chinese Government upon the expiration of their lease 10-31"
We loved our stay. Helpful, knowledgeable staff, plush comfortable room, within walking distance of Tianan Men Square, the Forbidden City, and the National Museum of China. Raffles lease ended October 31, 2016, right after our stay. The Chinese Government was to take over the operations. So, not sure how it will be in the future. Best move the Chinese could make would be to retain the staff that was there. The Concierge staff was the best I've ever seen. Prices are so low in Beijing, that you could splurge on a property like Raffles.
Stayed from 1st of Nov to 3rd of Nov, hotel located on the central of Beijing. Room is kind of old, internet is not very fast. very convericent to go anywhere. room temperature is adjustable, but a little dry. Average hotel for Business. very local hotel.
