"Grand Hotel in a great location."
What a great hotel We had two nights in this old grand hotel and could not fault this hotel . the staff were wonderful and nothing was to much of a problem . We had dinner on the first night in the hotel and the food and service was 100% Breakfast on both mornings was very good and the staff remembered us form the first night meal. The huge pool was so good and we spent a couple of hours there each day. It was just a piity the hotel are not yet set up to accept our Accor gold card yet and said they are sill waiting for all the paper work to be approved.
"Fantastic Service and incredible charm"
What a wonderful spot. Raffles is an oasis of serenity in the middle of everything. The service is impeccable, the staff very often knows your name. I felt less like a guest and more like I was with friends. The charm of the resort is excellent. I felt like I'd gone back in time to the 1930s, but with the amenities of today. You won't regret it if you choose Raffles for your stay.
"Great hotel and location....though pricy"
A lovely 5 star luxury hotel which was a great base to visit the sights. Excellent service and breakfast. Lovely pool to relax in. Only strange thing was that I had booked an upgraded room and when we arrived they tried to sell me a further upgrade.....which they did successfully...first time I've paid for a further upgrade..... Didn't eat at the restaurant in the evening as the local eateries seemed to have better choices and were a lot cheaper.
"Love the desserts"
Just had the most of out the world chocolate fondant. Coffee was good. Actually my friends and I were just here to check out the desserts and we love it. The service staffs were attentive. We will return next time.
"Good and not so good"
The Raffles didn't quite live up to our expectations. The public areas are old world and really lovely, pool was huge and enjoyable. It was a bit like spending 3 nights in a museum. The staff are all very nice and friendly, they are trained to cater for your every whim however we found this to be uncomfortable at times. The hotel seemed almost empty with more staff than guests so it seemed like they were always hovering over us. But I guess it's a fine balance between getting service and not getting any. Our room on the lower level was just a room, nothing special. It was a bit disappointing after seeing the public areas. It was very dark and had a dank musty smell which wasn't pleasant so we didn't spend much time there. I asked the concierge if we could have some room freshener or something put in our room to make it smell a bit better. I think it was sprayed once but soon dissipated. Bed linen was of average quality, was expecting lovely sheets and quilt but not to be. We did have a sitting area near us in the floor above which was useful. Food we had was nice, drinks a little pricey but this is to be expected. We were a little disappointed with our stay, it wasn't bad but didn't reach the heights we were expecting from a Raffles property.
