Stayed here April 22-23, 2017. We arrived at the hotel at 3:45 pm from a very harrowing drive from Los Angeles (took 4 hrs due to traffic) as we tried to check in with the front desk we were told that we have to wait 30-45 mins before we can get in our room. Staff additionally told us that they will text me when the room is ready. Annoyingly obliging, we impatient waited in the lobby for 30 mins then we decided to inquire again for our room. The staff finally said "oh its been available!" What do you mean' We waited for nothing' And I thought you guys are gonna let me know!' Rude! So anyway I let go of my ill feelings regarding the annoying checkin and decided to enjoy our stay. Wrong! What sucks with this place is the complete deceit from their advertising. All they promote is they wonderful spa area pool when regular folks like us were not even allowed to get in there because youll need a "day pass" or reservation to get in so ur only choice is the two other ugly old pools. There is nothing special to this place. Nothing close to what their website photos are portraying. Its just simple pathetic.
"Best 50th Birthday Dinner!"
Just got home from a 50th Birthday dinner with my brother in law and his family. Guacamole app, Portabello Mushroom Burger and Bread pudding for dessert. We were treated like visiting royalty by our server Vickie. The food was phenomenal and so was the service. A great night indeed.
"Nice place for a short stay"
The grounds, rooms and common areas were all very nice. Unless you golf or go to the spa your entire stay there's not a whole lot to do right around the hotel. On the one hand that is nice as it's very quiet. There was a private group which took over much of the resort during our stay and many small children took over the spa pool and no one did anything about it, Otherwise, no complaints. It was obviously very busy and the staff did a great job keeping professional, polite attitudes with all the guests. our room wasn't ready until pretty late in the day but they gave us free drink coupons while we waited. Overall it was a nice stay.
"Disappointed. Won't be back."
There was a conference at the resort when we arrived causing major congestion. People were everywhere (lobby, hallways, sidewalks, restaurants) making it impossible for paying guests to enjoy the grounds. It was difficult to walk anywhere and had to eat breakfast from the cafe in our room because there was no place to sit. The parking lot was full, forcing us to valet park which caused delays in getting to a scheduled function. The staff (several complained about the crowds) said this particular group had been at the resort before so the management scheduled this organization again, knowing it created an uncomfortable environment for their guests. We ate at the resort a few times. The Avant was good but service was very slow both times. The Bar was a nice informal place to eat and the Cafe was great with a wonderful, friendly staff. We stayed in the Greens portion of the resort, which had a beautiful view of the golf course. We had reserved a king room but upon arrival, only a queen was available. Our neighbors were very noisy which is a little annoying/embarrassing at 2:00 a.m. It is a beautiful facility but our visit was a big disappointment.
"One of the most beautiful properties I've ever stayed at!"
The Rancho Bernardo Inn is really breathtaking - the views of the gardens, golf course, swimming pools are extraordinary. The food was delicious and the staff was personable, friendly, and went above and beyond to assist me with whatever I needed. The room was beautiful - from the lighting, the spaciousness, the furniture, and balcony - it was lovely. I highly recommend the Rancho Bernardo Inn.
