Got a room on ground floor. Sliding glass door opened to a small patio that you could jump in the pool. Generously sized room, nicely layed out. Wife had a Thai massage at their spa. A little rough, but that's what a Thai massage is. Since I'm a woos, had a nice gentle scented oil massage. Very relaxing. If you stay at the hotel, I recommend taking a taxy to the long tail boat to Freedom Beach ( 500 bht/person round trip) from directly in front of the Holiday Inn. Fun 20 min trip. Rent a lounge and umbrella on the beach. But bring your own towel. No good snorkeling, but nice place to swim and relax. Small restaurant there.
I'm writing this review as we are leaving Chiang mai (sob). The resort is excellent. The staff are just wonderful from the guards who stop the traffic when you cross the road, to the manager who kindly helped us when we had another delayed flight as we left. (Each of you, thank you!) We booked a 7 night stay (only stayed 6 due to rescheduled flight) room on top of the pool. The setting was superb and romantic. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. I only had problems with over eating. Pool is slightly cold but not too bad when there's sunshine. I particularly liked it when we had tropical thunderstorms where I can just lie on the balcony lounge listening to the rain and reading my book. Location is convenient. There are lots going on by the river Ping. Restaurant Woo is a fantastic choice only 2 minute walk. We went twice! We had a delayed flight out of Chiang Mai. We were stuck in the city for 3 hours after checking out. The hotel staff had let us stay a bit longer and use the pool. We really appreciated as it was 38C! Thank you everyone! We will be back!
"5 Star Resort"
This was an unexpected trip for us but we couldn't have picked a nicer place. The admin staff were very helpful when I requested documents to be printed and scanned. All staff everywhere from cleaners to the security guys who stopped the traffic for us to go across the road to their restaurant which over looks the Mai Ping River. Had a spa on my last day and that was a 10/10, what a serene place.
"Fit for three star hotel"
Breafast quality is very basic definitely not fit for five star intercontinetial standards. All the TV channel are in Thai language bit strange weird for hotel with 3 star hotel. Room is average for 3 star standard.
"A great stay"
Everything you need in 1 place with wonderful accommodating staff too. Using the Spa treatment and massages here is essential with the hotel restaurant 10 steps across the road with a beautiful view of the river. A must stay in Chiang Mai.
