"Not a great stay"
Our stay at RatiLanna was not great to say the least. While the hotel says its "five stars", we definitely did not get that feeling from the time we arrived to the time we checked out. A few reasons why we were not happy with our stay: 1) Room service: forgot multiple items when bringing our order 2) Laundry: told the laundry service multiple times (and even wrote it down on the order slip) that we needed a one day turnaround and for the laundry to be ready by 5p so that we could pack. Not only did we not hear from the laundry service, we had to call them multiple times in the evening and they had no idea that we needed the laundry by that time. 3) Bathrooms: The bathroom was old and dingy. Whenever we turned on the sink faucet, water would spill all over the bathroom counter. 4) Breakfast buffet: We sat outside and there were ants all over the table. We cut our breakfast short and left since no one seemed to care. 5) Electricity: for some reason every morning around 5am the lightings and fountain in the bathroom would turn on automatically with out any rhyme or reason. We woke up early both mornings because of this.
The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed here for four nights and were very impressed. The breakfast was very good and they offered gluten free bread. The pool, fitness center and spa were also very nice. I would highly recommend Ratilanna to anyone traveling to Chiang Mai.
"Great hotel, very Lanna Style "
We are staying at the Ratilanna Riverside resort, it is an excellent resort, fantastic breakfast beautiful rooms and an amazing gym. Very peaceful hotel and my room is not far from the road but I cannot hear anything. The sound of the water feature in the room is lovely but it can be turned off at night to have a good sleep. The staff are also very friendly and very hospitable. We have two more nights here and I am enjoying it a lot. We have hired a scooter to get around and everything is very close. You can also rent tuk tuk and they are very cheap.
"Quaint and relaxing hotel"
This hotel was a lovely getaway from the hustle and bustle. It is quite a remote hotel however, as there are not many places you can walk to. There were 2 places to eat within walking distance. We decided to venture out to the night markets and had to take a tuktuk, which only took about 15 minutes. Even though it is quite remote, I did feel safe in my surroundings. The swimming pool has a swim up bar, and I would recommend to have breakfast outside facing the river. One of the highlights for me was the buffet breakfast every morning. I definitely recommend this property if you are after some peace and quiet. But do take into account that you will need to take a tuktuk to get to any places of entertainment.
