"Alot Excellent, Several Just OK"
Jr Suite, partial ocean view, All-Inclusive, November 2016: Much is charming and service was outstanding. Food outstanding except for the "24 buffet" is only a very small snack room with limited support (you know, service, extra limes, cream, etc), but at least "something" is available almost always, but it is not a conventional buffet. All inclusive drinks were only average. Same with beer (175 ml -- 6oz glasses) too small. The staff are wonderful, I'm sure if you asked for three glasses at once they would accommodate you. I like kids but there were screaming kids everywhere and my only real gripe with that is that I was never told by my travel agency, etc. If you're a family with screaming kids, you'll feel right at home! On site, inside-hotel sales on-going and non stop. Not a fan because they're too aggressive. The place is charming, albeit almost too big. The planned events are not communicated with guests very well, coffee cups are too small --100 ml tiny adorable porcelain cups (4 oz or less). Overall our stay was nice, albeit marred by incessant (yes incessant) requests for upgrades, extra services, handing out business cards, over greeting, standing in your line of travel, yelling for you to stop and browse the wares in the lobby, etc... you get the idea. Sadly, I will forever associate the term "amigo" with high-pressure sales. Great weather, wonderful pools and pool-side fun, great people watching, and other guests were very enjoyable -- the place jjust needs to be fine tuned to maximize the guest experience. Definitely not an A overall, but much of it was very nice and honestly the service was good and often exceptional.

It was in November 2013. We liked it here, the rooms were quaint and comfortable. The food was pretty good and the location was interesting. At the end of 5th Ave. - we packed a beach bag daily and ran the gauntlet of vendors down to the beach 10 minutes away and the sister resort where you could get drinks on the beach. Wonderful beach. We went a little off the beaten path in the day time and found some less pressure sale stores that were worth it. We took the contivo to Tulum and had a blast that day snorkeling at Akumel beach. We did a tour of Chichen Itza as well as Coba. Wonderful!

DO NOT BUY IN!! Big $$ they try to get out of you. I did this in December 2013...I regret this greatly! will never pay off..as a matter of fact, they are now trying to screw me out of one of the 2 incentive weeks!! they do NOT call back..or answer emails ref booking the reward trip this fall. Went last October and had a great time. I even have a couple other couples that wanted to come down this time and they have not responded to that...I think they must be in trouble..or just disfunctional for sure. if you book them, do it thru another service that buys bulk weeks...DO NOT JOIN MEMBERSHIP!!

hotel could not be faulted from check in to checking out 11 nights later. staff were friendly and willing to go that extra mile especially reception staff. we stayed in a junior suite overlooking the private pools. had jacuzzi in suite dvd player music system. hammock on balcony mosquito nets on patio doors. large bathroom with walk in shower. separate dressing area with excelling lighting over large mirror with 2 sinks and ample wardrobe space it's the magic box what is a brilliant idea every room as one and when room service is ordered instead of being disturbed they place your food inside the box switch on a light which then lights up in the suite to let you know your food as arrived abd once eaten place your plated inside again and they are regular checked 24 hour room service with fillet steak on the menu all included in all inclusive package mini fridge topped up daily with optics spilt for choice on restaurants but we good the normal dining buffet restaurant was more then adequate didn't realise there was a quiet pool until 4 days before leaving which was a disappointment as the main pool which is cental is very loud and lots going on during the day. also along side the quiet pool we found another buffet restaurant a outside bar and coffee lounge there's no qurt6esxabout losing your towel cards as you help yourself to poolside towels we found hotel location was ideal as on fifty avenue practically. but was very annoying s5 times the shop ownera constantly on at you to go inside also beware they clock your wrist band see your in the top hotel and they try and trick you saying there your waiter at hotel and they are having to work long hours to keep there family's business afloat and goad you into spending with them. we did falk for it on first occasion but soon realised.
"Gran Porto Real"
Hector from the 24 hour snack bar was a fantastic, helpful, friendly, employee. He went to the length of bringing me Captain Morgans spiced rum wvery night since he knew thats what i liked. Montero was a spectacular bar tendor. He would have a specific drink made for me my father and mother (which hew knew we would order, as soon as we arrived at the bar. All three different drinks. He was outgoing and very friendly and hospitable. We love Monte 😊 And Nicolas was also a great bar tendor. Always there as soon as we finished our drink to mix us another. All of the employees here were phenomenal hosts. I plan to return as soon as possible!
